Flex And .net 2.0 Web Service - Allow Access From Other Domains?
Apr 30, 2009
I created a project in flex builder with application server type set to none. When I debug, I can access the web service from my local machine thats on a site [URL] When I upload the flex app to [URL] it works great.But, when I upload it to myapp.mysite.com/myapp.html it wont access the web service.
P.S. The WS was created with VB.net, and when I create a flex project with application server type set to .net, it wont access the WS from my local machine this is my crossdomain.xml file
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.adobe.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
<cross-domain-policy>
[code]....
My guess is that it isn't a flex problem, but a .net security feature... wich I don't know how to configure. .NET won't allow apps to use it outside of its own domain.

how to duplicate the 9-slice functionality of Flex/Flash in WPF and VB.Net. I have used 9-slice scaling many times in Flex and it would be a great asset in WPF. I would like to be able to have an image as my background of a Canvas and have it stretch without ruining the rounded corners.

In all my previous vb programs I've used the webbrowser control to do things. I'm starting to use the httpwebrequest. So what I'm trying to do with the program is log in to [URL]..This may seem really easy but I'm having issues with the cookies. Once I'm logged in I can access any pages on the subdomain my.ign.com but the second I go out side to something else I'm logged out.
Is there something that I need to change in the cookie? Below is my code so far

I'm having a problem connecting to a MySQL server over two different trusted domains.We're developing an app for internal use and have been using MySQL till now. It's a desktop app written in vb.net.Up until now all the users were on the same domain and there were no issues. Just recently there was an higher-level decision to split users in 2 different domains for various reasons.The problem is that users from the new domain cannot access the server. If that helps, I was told by the administrators that the users from both domains are trusted. Both machines are running Windows Server - 2003 and 2008.The server port is open, the grants are all in there(base_class@%) but upon attempt access denied for user base_class@datablock2.

Regex(@"@(?:[a-zA-Z0-9-]+.)+[a-zA-Z]{2,4}$", RegexOptions.Compiled);
Using the above, I want to pass only values like @gmail.com, @xyz.edu, @co.uk etc...
But I find that the values like abc@gmail.com (valid email ids) also pass through.

The code below tries to clear the cookies for all domains once a user logs out of the system. For some reason, only the last domain in the array is cleared. Why does this happen?
For example, if I change the size of the array to 4 and then change the for loop to only go to 3, then it only logs me out of y.xcv.com.
As a sidenote, I have this loop working on a different server that uses a slightly different function to clear the cookies.
Edit: Code updated per suggestions below. Now it fails on the "as HttpCookie" line. Do I need to include some library?
Dim aDomain(12)
Dim ESidCookie, WIdCookie, EBidCookie, TSidAccessCookie, PSidAccessCookie, SSidCookie As HttpCookie

I am creating a simple XML web service and have run into something I can't quite explain.My web service class has the following structure :
Imports System.Web.Services
Imports System.Web.Services.Protocols
Imports System.ComponentModel
[code]....
Invoking my method using the built in VS web service test harness works fine. I created another project, in another solution, to test consuming the web service. I added a web reference to my project and set it so I could reference my web service by using "localWS". Then in the page load event of my consuming class I tried to instantiate an object of my web service:
Dim srv As New localWS.MyWS
But there was no "MyWS" type found. There is however a localWS.MyWSSoapClient class. When I use it I can invoke my web methods. My question is, why can't I create a straight up version of MyWS class? In the tutorials I'v read, and in the book I have, example consuming classes for .NET XML web services can instantiate objects of the web service class they are consuming. As a further test I added a new web form to my web service project and from there I was able to instantiate a MyWS class.

i have a Windows service that is hosting a WCF service through net.tcp and this is working great. I have also created a WCF service application. I am trying to add the net.tcp service reference to the service application. Then I add it to the GAC that goes ok but if I try to RegAsm the WCF service application to allow it to be called from Server.CreateObject I get the error:
Warning: Type library exporter encountered a type that derives from a
generic class and is not marked as
[ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)]. Class interfaces cannot be
exposed for such types. Consider marking the type with
[ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)] and exposing an explicit
interface as the default interface to COM using the
ComDefaultInterface attribute.
It does not work. I have tried to call it through a class library but this does not work either as the end point is not set correctly.

I have developed a web service on my LAN PC, then I hosted that Web Service using IIS and now I can access that web service on that Local PC using http://localhost:<PortNo>/Service.asmx and similarly I can access this service from another PC on my LAN network using http://<ip address>:<PortNo>/Service.asmx, all is well.
Now I am trying to access this web service from a VB.net Program on another PC on my LAN. I added the Service to my VB.net Project using the Add reference in solution Explorer, all is well again. Now the problem is I don't know how to access that service in my code? When I try something like this:
dim myService as new WebCalService
'Webcal is my service running on a network PC.
I get an underline under WebCalService and it says Type Expected? How to use a WebService on a LAN in VB.net??

I need to write a Windows forms app in VB 2008 to communicate with a Web Service.I have searched MSDN and many other sites trying to find a good tutorial or example code with no luck. The one really good piece of code I found did not compile.It needed to import Microsoft.UDDI.I found numerous references to the UDDI SDK, but could not find any site where I could successfully download it.I have the UDDI.dll but it is in my VB 8 folder and would not register.There is no such ddl in my VB 9 folder.

need to have a summation field in each row of a grid in visual basic. Each row needs to calculate the remaining quantity of its row and all other rows beneath it. Thus the subtotal field in the 1st row would equal the sum of the shown quantity field for the entire grid.The next row would include its value and all those beneath it. Its subtotal value would be less than the subtotal of the row above it (by the quantity value of the 1st row). My code for the grid is very simple I just can't figure out how to add this iteration.

What is the best way to access a Rails 3 REST-ful web service, developed using standard Active Resource techniques including HTTP authentication over SSL, from a VB.NET consumer?Consumer can be .NET 4.0 if that is necessary.Are there any .NET libraries yet that can bridge the gap?
I have already come across links like this [URL]..web-services/), which use Linq.XML or XML.XPath to parse responses and generate post data for REST-ful web services. I have in fact coded a system similar to the one at that link, except for a different geo-coding provider and using XPath instead of Linq.

The issue I am having is I need to know how to access a folder under the project. I know you can use System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory to get into the bin where the excuting file is but I want to get to a folder is this possible? If not is there a way of creating the folder under the bin directory and accessing it. I can manually create a folder under the bin but didnt really want to do that.

I'm new to write windows services and I was searching around collecting necessery info and howtos. What I'm missing is the interaction between my webapp and the service. The servicecontroller sending messages to the service and gives me the main status of the service. Is there a way to get custom messages, set custom properties and get properties? If there are not, should I use a file for both the service and the web app where both can read and write on, like a settings file in xml or are there better methods? Is there a way to get the messages in the corresponding eventlog, how do I access them?
