Function Be Used To Open A Particular Worksheet Called Report1 In The Report.xlsx File
Dec 15, 2011
I have used the Process.start function to open an Excel file as shown in the code
Process.Start("report.xlsx") and it works perfectly well.
My question is can this function be used to open a particular worksheet called Report1 in the report.xlsx file. If so what would the code be.I have spent many hours trying to research this topic but without success.
Can you look at my coding and let me know what I'm missing or doing wrong?I have a SSRS report that is called from a ReportViewer control and the ProcessingMode for this control is Remote. The report also has 1 parameter in it's DataSet.In the code I placed a MsgBox to make sure the code is finding the parameter and returning the parameter name. I am trying to stick the value of 10 into the parameter for playerID 10. Data for this player does exist.
I believe I need to add some more code to make this work but I'm not sure what else to add.
When the code executes the report is displayed but no data is shown in the report.

I am having problem opening multiple textfiles to multiple worksheets in excel. so far, if i have multiple textfiles selected, it will onl open one worksheet in excel of last file.
i am very new @ visual basic just worked in php and html before this i downloaded visual studio 2008 with sp1 before a few days and made my first steps whit it. i want to make something like an software package for myself just to trie out some things, and i would like to add (firefox.3.1.exe to MY RESOURCES, and after that i want to make something like a button and a button click event that when i clikc the button it opens the .exe file in my resourses and i can install it)so i know how to add it to my resources. so is there maybe any way to use SHELL to open a file called firefox_setup.exe in MY.RESOURCES?
I am creating a multipage excel report in a single worksheet using VB.Net. I need to display group header information at the top of every page. check whether a cell is the first cell of a page or not.
How can I call a function from inside another function and suspend the calling function until the called function is finished? I hope I can get some replies because I don't know how to ask the question and make sense:).
Anyway what I am trying to do in steps:
1. The user clicks button1 which triggers the click event. 2. From the click event I call a function 3. I then pop-up a form, that has instructions for the user to read. 4. After the user has read the form he will click the "Done" button and return to the calling function.
The problem is the the calling function continues to execute. I want to stop execution of the calling function until the users clicks the "Done" button on the instruction pop=up. I know I can use a msgbox but the instructions can be lengthly and does not look good in a msgbox.
I have tried the Call method with return in the "Done" button click but I can make that work. I also tried a goto statement but I can get that to work either. In the call statement I said call frmInstruction.show() and it got there but as I said the calling function continued to execute.
If a subroutine is called within a function, does the function always wait until that subroutine is completely finished before it will proceed with the rest of the function? If so, is there any way to make it not wait and continue on with the rest of function and not care what happens in the subroutine?
I am trying to convert a DLL function call which has the Callback function routine called within the DLL function call. The DLL function call signature is like this:
I'm attempting to use the VLookup function to look up a raw score and convert it using an excel worksheet. However, instead of returning the figure in the lookup location, its returning the value that i'm looking up. For example, i'm looking up the number 5, it should give me the value of 63 but instead of returning the value 5.
EDIT: The above code DOES work, but it does not work with the following code(returns number i'm sending). One thing I did notice, it doesn't seem to be looping through all the Subnames...I just get one result and there are 10 in the TEMP table.
I've got a basic logon form where if you enter the right password/username, it redirects you to the "MainMenu" Form How can I make a function called "checkLogon" that checks the username/password text to a variable in that function?
My application generates XLSX files based on a users requirements.
After the XLSX file is generated the user is redirected to where the file is saved using Response.Redirect...
Response.Redirect("filename.xlsx")
When the user then opens the file... they recieve this message.
The file you are trying to open, 'filename.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?
As a temporary fix I've instructed my users to press "Yes" when they receive this message and the file opens perfectly fine.
Does anyone have any ideas why IE6 is trying to open an XLSX file as an XLS?
I am trying to FTP an .xlsx file. I have to code uploading the file, but it is uploading it in a zip folder. how I can fix this? Is it a setting I am seeting with my code, or is it a setting the the FTP page itself? The code shown below is the code i am using to FTP the file. It was posted to my other thread by bdbodger.
and have successfully got a file name from the open file dialog when coded as part of the "Public Class Form1" -> Private Function btnOpenXML_Click function that was generated automatically by vb. The openFD was generated by adding the OpenFileDialog to the pane underneath the form.
Private Function btnOpenXML_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnOpenXML.Click Dim strFileName As String
[Code]....
I'd like to move this code to a module so that it does not clutter my main form1 layout.
However when copy the code to a new module, the openFD is not recognised.
how to I re-declare this openFD or pass it into the function so that it can be used?
I am trying to create a form that opens a text file and displays the text in the textbox on my form. I am supposed to use a function to get the string of text from the file. Then I am supposed be able to click a button to call on the function. I have to use the OpenFileDialog to get the file and the path of the file can be anything (it is not a certain file). I am having a lot of trouble figuring out how to get this to work. I have tried coding it and this is what I have come up with:
Public Class Form_BaseClass Function ReadFile() As String Dim OpenFileDialog As New OpenFileDialog
I have a website where people send each other messages Recently I noticed that sometimes the same message is sent more than once For example, a message is sent four times within three seconds or twice within a second.I do not understand how this could happen, once the user clicks on the button that sends the message .So all the window switches and a message showup saying "the mail is sent successfully." I checked that if the user refreshes the page after it sends a message, then really the message is sent again. But I do not think that's the case, becouse the message is sent twice within one second.I am writing in vb.net and using mysql data base.Maybe it's related to the queue for the db, i do not know. Here's the code:
Function calls: Call GlobalFunction.update_mailbox_table(user_id, receiverId, txtMessage.Text, private_picture) the insert function Public Shared Sub update_mailbox_table(ByVal user_id As Integer, ByVal receiverId As Integer, ByVal message As String, ByVal[code].....
I have a function that takes some meter measurements. If the values are not close enought I want to run the function again until the values are close enough, or until the function has been executed "X" amount of times.
I've built a simple library to import data from XLS/XLSX files. The code runs perfectly in my WinForms app but occasionally throws exceptions when I run it from ASP.Net. The "occasional" part seems to based on file size. My test file is about 16,000 rows and 18 columns totaling about 4MB as an XLSX file. If I drop rows (down to about 12,000) it works or if I drop columns (down to about 12) it works or certain combinations of these (14,000x14, etc) it works. This leads me to believe that I'm possibly running into a memory constraint somewhere. Below is the distilled code that's not working:
Dim dsn = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=""c: est.xlsx"";Extended Properties=Excel 12.0" Using Con As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(dsn) Con.Open()'Exception thrown here Con.Close() End Using
The exception that I'm getting is:External table is not in the expected format Searches for this all talk about getting the DSN correct and since it works on the desktop I know I've got that right. My test machine is a Windows 7 64-bit with the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable - 32 bit installed. (My machine has Office 2010 32 bit installed which is why I have the 32-bit ADE installed, it won't let you install 64-bit.) I've set my IIS app pool to allow 32-bit applications which I needed to get ADE to work in the first place. I'm running the v4 Framework and as far as I know my IIS settings are pretty much standard.Like I said, the code works every time when I run it through a WinForms app but occasionally fails through ASP.net on the same machine.
I have a function to pull data from a XML, and to report a specific number based on a value in one of the elements in the XML. Unfortuntately, I can't get any break points to work, so I've been debugging with a trace.he strange this is that when i take out the function itself it works like it should, otherwise the Service freezes when it gets to the function and never uses it. I'm calling the function in while loop which is also within a Try Statement, here's example of the code.
Public Shared Function GetXNumber(ByVal audit As Audit.API)
Okay so what im trying to do is make a simple particle system in VB (Yes i know this isnt a ideal setup). Im going to have particles dieing and spawning new ones tho, To do this i need to be able to pass a function to the particle when its created then call that function when it dies. Is there a way to do this by passing function pointers?
I am wanting to perform certain processes before the program closes. I can get them through the File > Exit part of my menu, but I can not find the VB6 form_unload equivalent in VB2010. I have tried Form_QueryUnload but it never gets called when I close by using the RED "X".
