I've been tasked with obfuscating and auto building our projects. I have the two working great independant of one another, but I need to find a way to get the obfuscated build into the drop folder set in TFS2010. In my .vbproj file my MSBuild code looks like this:

I've searched the VS settings and haven't discovered why the bin.Release folder is empty after a build. The bin.Debug folder output is normal. The same occurs with the obj.* folder.

I then imported an old project made using vb 2008 EE.I found that a few errors were reported.In the project I addressed some function from a dll called "rsource.dll". I used the following function call:Public Declare Function rs_init Lib "rsource.dll" Alias "init" () As Double.The other different thing is the projevt was developed on a 32 bit OS but since then I have upgraded to 64bit (if this makes any difference). he other thing is where is the debugger PAUSE button. has it been removed from vb 2010?Also when i run debug it seems to create the exe in the Build output target folder instead of the default bindebug folder why is this?
View 5 RepliesEvery time I compile a new release build in vb.net 2009, the file version number of my main exe is correct, but the assembly version number is the same as the last build instead of the current version even though I manually change the file and assembly version in the design studio to be the same prior to compiling.The only way I can get the assembly version to be correct is to close Visual Studio and delete the obj folder. Then if I open the solution and recompile, all is well.

A co-worker checked a very simple Visual Basic Visual Studio 2010 application into our version control system. When I checked it out and tried to build it I got the weird error below, which I am guessing has something to do with which .Net Framework the build is targetted towards and also which Framework I have installed.

I put 6 pictureboxes in a TableLayoutPanel and have a timer control call the Ahead1 subroutine to load a new picture into the last box after all of the other pictures "move up one box".The problem is that every the timer calls the Ahead1, the program uses about 30MB of RAM and the program eventually ends with an OutOfMemory Error. (Choosing the Picture Folder - only called once)

I goal is to create an application where I can drag and drop a folder and then an icon that i want the current folder icon to change to- all this for vista/W7. I am using Visual Studio 2008 Professional to build a VB.NET console application. I have a text file that I want to copy to the output directory after a build. I would like to create a build event to do that, but I do not see a "Build Events" folder on the property page. Is there a setting where I can get this folder? So when i build or click debug on my program. No errors come up and its smooth. So i decide to publish my programme. However. I come up with a bunch of errors during the publishing.

The situation: when i build my project (or publish) Visual Basic 2010 makes and exe and a couple ddl files. when i run the project with the .exe and the other files the program works perfectly.
My problem: I want to share it with friends and it is just a verry little program ( a n internet radio) so i want it to be 1 .exe with out any other instalation needed so i can easly share it to anyone who wants it. when i make an even smaller program and Debud->build it, it is only 1 exe and no instalation needed. so is there a way to make my program to 1 exe only?
Having difficulty with the module below failing on line 21. It is telling me: The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002) Basically what it is designed to do is look for a directory, if that exists then look for a file in that directory. If both = True then it should open the folder to browse the files. I believe the issue is with the "Program Files" being 2 words since the script runs using a root path, but I'm not sure how to format the path correctly to make it work?

The application requires that asssembly CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine Version 10.2.3600.0 be install in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first. This version is listed in the references of the program and in my mind, be included in build. How do I get by this error?

I am loading an Assembly using Assembly.LoadFrom() as the assemblies are located in a different path from Application Base directory.

sAssemblyName is the one I loaded using LoadFrom() actually. After it said it cannot find the assembly, I used AssemblyResolve event which solved my problem :Subscribing AssemblyResolve event :

And I thought maybe the error occurs because it cannot find a dependent assembly defined in assembly manifest file I loaded using LoadFrom() already but when I checked the args.Name, I saw it was trying to load same assembly and after that it worked without any problem. So basically a type in the loaded assembly cannot be found before the event adding change.
My old code was using AppDomain.CurrentDomain.Load() and Assembly.Load() methods and they were working fine without the AssemblyResolve event. I was able to reach types in dynamically loaded Assembly from every where within the same AppDomain.
LoadFrom() can find dependencies automatically within the same requested assembly path and that couldn't be problem as everything this dll needs was there. So at first it looked like a AppDomain problem to me as it looks like it seems it can reach assemblies from Load context instead of LoadFrom context and I am now using LoadFrom context.But now it seems I should pass oAssembly instance evertwhere to use any type from the loaded assembly?Doesn't it load the assembly where I can reach it everywhere (same AppDomain) using simple Type.GetType(...) method?

A has: class Button.
B has: instance of Button (call it oButton).
C has: oButton.
C wants to have: assembly oButton is in (B).

I'm wanting to include a system tray icon in my WPF project, and found this resource:[URL]..which looks like it will work beautifully, but it's written for C# and I'm using VB.net for this project. I downloaded his project and built the notifyicon as a DLL, then added as a reference to my project.
It throws up an error: Unable to emit assembly: Referenced assembly 'Hardcodet.Wpf.TaskbarNotification' does not have a strong name So I'm trying to figure out the best way to proceed. Do I need to strong name it, or is there a better way to do this?
