Get A ListBox To Display Contents For A Selection That Is Made In A ComboBox?
Dec 16, 2009
I am currently pulling data from a database into a comboBox. My intent is to have the description of the selected option in the comboBox displayed in a listbox. How to i get this data to be displayed in a listbox?
I'm curently trying to get information displayed in a listbox from a selection made in a datagridview. For example a user selects an artist from the treeview control and it displays all the albums by that artist in the datagridview. Once a user selects an album all information for that album is displayed below the datagridview in either a listbox or listview control. I've tried dragging the conrols from the datasource and it' won't drag onto the listbox. What do I need to do to get it so that it will display album, artist and track information?
I have a form with a combo box and a checked list box. When I select one item in the combo box, I want the list in the checked list box to change to the appropriate choices.
I am currently using the NorthWindDataSet from the msdn tutorials. So far, here is what I have to populate one of the listboxes on my form:[code] I make a selection in ListBox2 I would like ListBox3 on my form to be populated with that particular person's Order #'s.
I am new to the forum and to VB, and not great at coding in general.I am learning, and this site as well as others have helped me get farther than I ever imagined. Second, my project is purely for my benefit, so I can learn. There is no corporate or school related goal here, just trying to learn. So the title is a summary of what I want to do. I have a form with a combo box that has five different choices, and below it, a checked list box. What I want is the collection inside the checked list box to change depending on what I select in the combo box above it.For instance, I have room 1 - 5 in the combo box, and the the checked list box below it, I have the furniture associated with that room. The eventual goal is to have this form populate a database, that allows the checked furniture to be recorded in a record.
I assume I need to use a db, such as access, to list the "furniture" in each room, and have a different table for each room, where the combo box selection will populate the checkedlistbox from the appropriate tables contents.I need a step by step on this, because I am a bit of a brick. Most tutorials are also done in VB 6 or VB 2008, and there have been steps missing in association to VB 2010.
getting a scrapped list from a website into a listbox. I now need to use the contents of that listbox in a combobox and am going nuts. I have included the code
I am doing a lab where you have to connect to the database using the Database Configuration Wizard in Visual Basic (Visual Studio 2008). The database connection is there since the form will display the records. The problem is the user is supposed to be able to click on the combobox arrow to select a stock rating (high, low, etc) and then the listbox will display only the stocks with that rating. I thought this would work but nothing is showing up in the listbox.
' strSql is a SQL statement which selects all the fields from the Team database. Dim strSql As String = "SELECT * FROM Stocks" 'strPath provides the database type and path of the Team database[code]...
I'm writing a standalone application in VB.NET using Visual Studio 2005. I want to display/hide a bunch of Buttons based on the selected value of a ComboBox. Each selection would have a different set of Buttons to display, and I'd like to have them arranged in a nice grid.
Driving a TabControl with the ComboBox value would be the kind of behavior I want, but I don't want it to look like a TabControl to the user because it might be confusing. Is there a way to do this?
Basically, I'd like Selection1 of the ComboBox to show Buttons 1-4, Selection2 to show Buttons 5-11, Selection3 to show (maybe) Buttons 1, 3, 5, 6, and 8, etc., have them arranged nicely, and have the GUI show only the ComboBox and the buttons.
I have a program that needs to display a playlist of songs, for a band performing someplace, from a .txt file. The songs in the file are listed as follows:
All You Need is Love-Beatles Rock 4.25
[code]....
The first line is the song's title and group name. The second is the songs genre. The third line is the songs length, 4.25 is 4 minutes and 25 seconds.upon clicking a button, I need to display a playlist from this .txt file based on the number of minutes the band has to play, minutes entered into a TextBox, and the songs genre, selected from a ComboBox. The songs cannot repeat and must be random.I have already coded the program to read the .txt file but have not clue where to start with the rest.
If I set a ListBox.Height = ListBox.PreferredHeight when the control is hidden and IntegralHeight = True, then set it visible:
a) Actual Height reduces by typically 3-5 pixels after redraw (but not 1 pixel per item).
b) PreferredHeight does not not appear to give the correct integral of item heights.
Is there a way to make ListBox calculate the correct integral Height before the ListBox is made visible, so it can be correctly pre-positioned from bottom edge?
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
I have a combobox which contains a sample of names selected from a table.Currently the default name displayed in the box is the 1st name found in the table. What I would like to do is display the name of the person who is doing the selection as the default. The name is stored in a public variable 'PubName' and I do not want the user to be able to type into the combobox themselves. Is this possible?
I have a relatively simple application that uses a series of combo boxes to ask questions. These combo boxes are bound to a table with 2 columns in it "RSN" and "RSN_ID". I'm using one table adapter to feed the form (and these boxes) once the main form is loaded. The problem I'm having is when I change one of the boxes, they all change to the same value, almost like they have the exact data source (which they do) but shouldn't you be able to make different selections even using the same table adapter? I have to run 20 queries at loadtime, or create 20 table adapters.
My current setup is like this: Data Source: table that feeds the combobox Display Member: RSN (from combo box table) Value Member: RSN_ID(from combo box table) Selected Value: Form's main binding source, unique to each combo box, where the selection is actually saved.
This works perfect when using one combobox, but as soon as I bound all of them I ran across this...
I have a form like that: What I need to do is when the user selects item1 from combobox a message will be displayed in listbox. My combobox has 11 items so I must have 11 appropiate messages to be stored automatically in listbox . (The message is appropriate of what item is selected from the combobox)
Here is the full code implemented : Private Sub ComboBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ComboBox1.SelectedIndexChanged Dim msg1, msg2, msg3, msg4, msg5, msg6, msg7, msg8, msg9, msg10, msg11 As String If ComboBox1.SelectedValue = "Item1" Then msg1 = "Ati ales item1 din combobox" [Code] .....
what i am trying todo is get a listbox to display the contents of an XML file. The problem is at the start of the code when i try to load the xml file.
I have a DGV with a CB column in VS2008. I would like an event when a DGVCB selection is made (without leaving the cell). It will probably have to be a DGV cell or row event but I can't find one that fires as soon as a DGVCB selection is made.
i have a treeviev and listbox.i want to display the selected contents of treeview into the listbox.my code is working for file but not for folder. means i want, if the all contents of folder ABC(i.e all files) are selected then in listbox i want to show the only path of folder not the seperate path of each file.
I'm using VB 2005 and MS Access 2000. I have a process that does some "stuff" with the data, re-queries the database, re-populates the form then displays a messagebox indicating that the process has completed. My issue is that after clicking OK in the messagebox, that whatever textbox the cursor was in prior to starting the process, now has all the text in it highlighted. If I don't show the messagebox then this doesn't happen. And if I don't call the process that repopulates the form controls, this doesn't happen. There's no code in the app that selects the contents of the textbox so is there a property somewhere that controls this?
Is there a way to update source combobox to printer combobox selection? So going from printer1 to printer2 the source will update according to what that printer has to offer.
I'm having a problem with combo boxes. I usually use Java and it's been awhile since I used VB but I never remember having this much difficulty. My application is using an SDF file. From Data Sources, I drag the details on one of my Tables to my Form to get all of the fields. Three of them are comboboxes. Each of the three is an INT64 and each corresponds to a primary key in a different table. I click the tasks button on a combobox and for data source I select the appropriate table that has the data to go with the combobox, for display member I select the field that I want users to see, and for value member I select the primary key. Then I run a quick test and start the app, open the form, and add a new record. When I select a value from the combobox the selection won't validate because it doesn't think it's an INT64 like it should be. It seems to be using the display member as the actual value instead because if I change display member to the primary everything works great.
I have two comboBoxes, one is CountryCombo and second is StateCombo. What I want is the that when i the clicks country combo and select a one country then the States of that the country should get populated in the State Combo.I have tried things many many many but nothing working. Below is my code of how my CountryCombo is getting filled.
query="select CountryName from CountryMaster" if dr.hasRows() {[code]......
Brand new to VB 2008 Express, but have done some work in VB 6. Not sure what I'm missing, but here goes. I have two comboboxes linked to an Access 2007 database. One box lists the names of the States in the US.
This is what I used for the Table Adapter Configuration Wizard for the combobox "State" SELECT ST_UID, ST_NAME FROM STATE
For the combobox County I used: SELECT ST_UID, CTY_NAME FROM COUNTY ST_UID is an Integer.
I created a label with a bound value to STATE.ST_UID so that when a user selects the name of a state from the State box the appropriate ST_UID populates the label, (i.e, California has an ST_UID = 5).
The problem is when a state is selected, I only want the Counties for that state to appear in the County box, i.e, COUNTY.ST_UID = 5 if California is the selected state.
I then tried to convert the value in the st_uid label to an integer:
CODE:
This is what I last tried when again using the Table Adapter Configuration Wizard for the table that populates the County box: SELECT ST_UID, CNTY_NAME FROM COUNTY Where ST_UID = 'StUID' Order By st_uid, cnty_name
What I'm getting is a "Data type mismatch in criteria expression." I'm sure my error is something so simple.
I currently have a form with two comboxes. The first cbo is being populated with a project number, which is being pulled from the first column of a spreadsheet. I now want the second cbo to read the first cbo and then find that project number on the spreadsheet; when it finds that project number, I then need it to copy data from the row the project number is on. I have converted to vb from vba. Below is the code I used in vba (which obviously does not work). I only need certain cells from the project row.
Dim proj_num, rng As Range Dim data, i As Long, j As Long With Sheet1
I am a new student of Visual Basic. I am using Vis. Studio 2010. Is there some sample VB code that I can gain access to that shows how to test on multiple selections that were selected within a listbox using the "For each" construct? In this scenario, multiple items have been selected but not 100% of them. I need to know how to test on which ones are selected as I examine each one in the list using the "For each" construct.
I created a bitmap, that is supposed to be displayed on the screen, in the middle. It will have to be on top of EVERYTHING!! Even if a full screen application is running, I want it to show. My questions are: Is it possible to even display a CUSTOM MADE bitmap on the screen?

Way, to promptly display to a listview all the changes that has been made to a database? I notice that every time I add new records to database it seems that it doesn't quickly display to a listview, unless I close and reload the form where the listview is attached.[code]....
i made a mp3 music player and i used listbox to let the users see what songs they have added but i want them t be able save and load their song list. How can i do that?
