I want get a collection of all the open windows. I know in VB.NET, but dont know in DHTML/VBScript for Windows Vista Sidebar.
I'm trying to get a collection of children in a Windows folder in my VB program. I don't know what classes / methods to use. I could look it up but I wouldn't know what to search for and .NET has way too much documentation to wade through.

View 6 RepliesI have a Motor Class, along with a Collection to hold objects address. Each Collection object holds the Class fields as a String to display in list box. I am able to write the collection string to the file and save the string. But unable to open the existing file, read the file back into the collection object.

I have looked all over for anything (samples or tutorials for working with files and collection objects) pertaining to type of operation with out any success.
Is it good practice to store sub-collections of item X inside a parent collection of item X for caching 'filter-queries' which are performed on the parent collection? (They won't be used together (as in color AND type).) Or is it also ok to just Loop over the collection and return the correct entities in a temporary collection?

The code below, once executed, will produce 1 IE window. I'm pretty sure I understand why it's doing this, but not sure how to fix it. What I want is 3 IE windows open, at the respective sites.

Also, the way my GUI's set up I have buttons for each individual tool, when clicked they open a new tab in the same IE window, as opposed to a new IE window.

currently in my application I have a Global Collection that is a Collection of Collections.Currently I am trying to add items/ elements to one of the child collections of the Global Collection but I am unable to use the collections methods of the child.When I assign a variable to the child collection and return the collection it is just an object with the collection inside.
Ex:

I've been working with a CMS called InsiteCreations 2008. I'm running into an error I just can't wrap my head around. I would even be willing to compensate anyone a small amount over paypal, for a solution. The error is rare in occurance, and appears when clicking about 3-4% of links to other pages within our CMS.The full code page is quite large, but there seems to be only one function associated with the error. The error also only appears when not logged into the CMS. If logged into the CMS, clicking the link simply displays the page as normal. I have already checked permissions on the page from the CMS admin console, and it is public.
The error message is as follows:

View 11 RepliesI want to list all open Windows Explorer windows with their active path in a ListBox. The app should refresh the ListBox if the explorer window is navigated to a different path.
For e.g. two explorer windows are open. One is navigated to C:Windows and the other is navigated to D:Stuff. When the app it run, it adds C:Windows and D:Stuff to the ListBox. Then, the user navigates to a different folder in one of the open explorer windows like C:Windowssystem32. The app should then refresh the ListBox and list C:Windowssystem32 and D:Stuff instead.
I have an MDI parent within which are contained several mdi child windows. when I close the MDI parent window, I need to check for any open MDI child windows (they may not be in the foreground) and check if they need saving. the saving part I'm ok on, but I can't get a stable system for checking if there are any open MDI children, when I click the button that closes the application. any suggestions?

Rather than going into each and recording the URL/window name (which is listed in the window title bar, relating to the content of the web page), is there a way to capture that information within VB.NET (in a WinForm app)?

Is that the kind of thing I'm supposed to do to fix all of these type conversion issues or am I going about this the wrong way? Also in situations like that, should I be using DirectCast or CType?
I am currently working on a small vb.net project which consists of several windows. These windows consist of buttons and so on and if I click on one of these buttons, another window opens up and the previous window just closes up or hides itself.
The problem is as follows; when the new window opens up, it goes to another place (coordinate) on the screen(though its just a slight displacement).
hat can I do to make all the windows open at the same place??
I have made an alternative OS and i wan't it to open Windows Explorer. I have tried Shell (C:WindowsExplorer.exe) and it works,but the startbar appears at the bottom of the screen when I dont want it to.
