Is there anyway to get the exact time. I know 'Now' Commands get the system time but the system time is not exact to real time, is there way of returning a value from a webpage, even using a webbrowser.

I want to put a log writer in the code so that i can track the events and find out where the application is wasting the time.But the problem is that vb.net tells the time only at a interval of 15.25 milliseconds what to do. although msdn documentation says that we can get the time in millisecond.
To understand my problem better pls go through the following code. this code is written on a click event of a button and it writes down the time in a log file. The problem is that it writes time like 16,16,16 and after some time when the dx value reaches to say 5000 it jumps to 31 and then to 46 and so on.

I am trying to calculate the exact amount of time in Years, Months and Days between 2 date values. I'm getting stuck on the day calculation. I've returned the # of months and it's value is 8.77. The .77 needs to be rounded to 8 which should give me the days. I'm not exactly sure what MATH function to use to do this.

I also have a hidden label on my form that has the current system time and date. I am wondering how do I take the date that is on the label and insert it into the column for the last change date on the datagridview when ever a new row is added. This way it automates the process of putting the exact time that row was added.

View 3 RepliesMVC3 vb.net. In my app I have a point where 500+ emails with attachments are sent out using a for each loop to accomplish this.. Nothing is returned to the browser the entire time this is running so eventually the browser think it has timed out... I tried just having it redirect to another actionresult function after every email and that function just passes it back to the email function. This is not working and I feel the reason is that nothing is actually being sent to the browser window its self.. Is there a way to fix this issue??

I imported an app from vb6 to vb.net It works fine. It has one axmsflexgrid control. Now I want to add another axmsflexgrid control in the same app. I tried to copy and paste from one frame (groupbox) to another and got this error:
"An error occurred while processing this command: Exception from HRESULT:0x800A018A (CTL_E_GETNOTSUPPORTED)"
An inputs on how would I fix this? Or just make a new axmsflexgrid?
I have a oracle database. I use the OracleDataAdapter(Oracle.DataAccess.dll) for select, update, insert, delete operations. I don't set any (table) locks on my own(I only start a transaction). I have a oracle table named "test" with the entry "test1".
Now my question: Can Person A read the entry "test1" while Person B is updating/deleting the entry at the exact same time? What happens in the worst case? An old match/empty match or can it cause any kind of exception/error(e.g. "TableLocked-Exception")?

Itemlists is a global lists i retrieved from database, everything looks fine to me but when i run this program, I found that the threads are inserting one records 9 times into the database(I have 9 threads in total), which makes me think that maybe i need to specifically assign 1/9 of a list to each thread? Is there another way to do it which doesn't require the splitting of the list, if not , how do i split it then assign?

Im not asking for the whole program, just something to get me started and hints along as i progress with it. Please help me get started on my program, its due in 2 days.
Here are the requirements....
1. The program must input any number of individual�s last and first names using two separate textboxes.
2. The array of names must be sorted by the last name using a bubble sort. You must code the sort.
3. The program must be able to recall the names from the file and add to the existing list of names so that more names can be added to, sorted, and written back to the file in sorted order.
4. Sort in ascending order: A to Z
5. All names must be displayed in a listbox in sorted order when the user wishes to see them.
6. In the listbox the last and first names must be separated by a comma and a space. Example: Smith, Mary
7. The user must be able to search for a name in the array, using the binary search algorithm. You must code the search.
8. Do not use module-level variables. Instead you may choose to use Static.
9. The program must be designed using Visual Basic 2008
i know how to give the control + t command ( " SendKeys.Send("^t") ) and how to send the alt command ( "SendKeys.Send("%t") ) but how do i give a command that presses alt and ctrl and t in the same time?

I know that time delays have been covered before around almost everywhere. however a method that forgoes forcing the GUI to become temporarily non-responsive, is all but a myth, or at least to my findings. i have the need for a GUI program to delay before the next command, however using the current method, detailed following, it causes the desired effect however it dose make it much less polished as when you click anything else on the GUI it goes un-responsive for the directed time. [Code] make a sub called say Tdelay( milseconds as integer) and have it run a loop as many times as the milseconds variable indicates and each time making the thread delay for 1 milsecond and then update the GUI/form in some way, then re-loop.

View 2 Repliesi have a panel on a form and i have various controls inside the panel which i then shrink and enable the panels scrollbar so i can scroll through the controls. i am trying to get the exact size of the panel (unshrunk).for example the panel is 500 pixels in width and i then shrink the panel down to 300 pixels and enable the scrollbar. when i try to get the size of the panel using code like
panel1.size.width.tostring
it keeps telling me the panel is 300 pixels long ..which yes it is because i shrunk it down but i want to get the full size of the panel which should be 500.
