Aug 31, 2009One of the great features of Page Frames in the now discontinued FoxPro language was that you could use a Page Frame (like a TabControl) and hide the tabs. The nice thing about this was that if you wanted (for example) to have simulated "frames" you could use a Page Frame control, hide the tabs, and that gave you endless frame that you could then access programmatically.I need to do something along the same lines. To further illustrate, if you look at any configuration screen in Office 2007, they all have a ListBox on the left, and then clicking on those Listbox selections brings up "frames" on the right with what you want to work with.This is the effect I want to create - but in .NET I cannot see a good control to use.
Panels - these seemed a good idea at first, but even when set to Visible and not Visible these frames hide each other so they dont seem like they will work.
GroupBoxes - Tried these but the same problem as with panels.
TabControl - Tried this, and it works great - but I DONT want the Tabs. Instead I want non-tabbed pages, that would then be like frames.
What is the best control to use? And, can I hide the Tabs somehow in the TabControl?

Apr 18, 2012I have a simple web for that has a dropdown list and a button on the form.The dropdown list is bound to a table in my database and holds three values with idents between 1 and 3 (Weekly,Monthly, Please Select).I have set my datasource to pull back item 3 (Please Select) as the first item in the dropdown list to prompt the user to select an option. Items 1 & 2 have data assigned to them and this pulls back the relevent data for these options.
Here is my problem. I need to hide my button when the page loads until the user selects item 1 or 2 and would like the button to be hidden of option 3 is selected. I have tried to complete this in my page load event and the code for the dropdown list but i cannot seem to get this to work.

Aug 27, 2009My application is intended to crawl a URL page and extract all possible links from the page.It works fine for a certain URL but with another it keeps causing problems. When the root page is accessed it correctly extracts the different directory links. but when it requests the directory links html page it pulls the main root URL again. someone mentioned about redirection but when debugging I see the url variable containing the directory link correctly.

Apr 5, 2011I have written an application in Visual Basic 2010 that I would like to hide from the Task Manager Application Tab, if possible. It's fine if it is listed in the Processes tab.
The purpose of the application is to allow users to postpone a restart following software update installations that require restarts. The application includes a form the user's must interact with so it can't be permanently hidden from view on the desktop. I am basically looking to mimic the WSUS Windows Update dialog which allows users to postpone restarts.
VB6 has app.taskvisible which is no longer included in VB 2010. I have seen a lot of discussion around this topic but no real solutions.

Aug 20, 2010I have a legacy application that has an interactive graphical user interface, but also periodically checks for files in a directory and reacts to the files. I want to launch the application from a VB program, but not see the GUI (i.e., just let the file interface do it's thing). I really don't want to see the application running on the desktop at all (e.g., no windows, nothing on taskbar), the only evidence would be if I checked task manager I'd see it running.
Obviously this app would be ideally a service, but that's not where we are and I can't change it so I'm trying to simply not see the GUI.
I've seen the ProcessStartInfo.CreateNoWindow and WindowStyle = hidden flags but they don't hide the GUI of the legacy app.
again launch the legacy app (actually an unmanaged C++/MFC app) from a VB managed admin app.
