I am developing one web application using VB.net. This applicaton this site is actually meant to fetch the details of the active directory users. When i enter the user id in the text box and press enter it should give the complete properties of the user account. This includes : Account Creation date, modification date, password last set, user cannot change password, user account expiry, user must change password at next logon etc. I have done almost all the things. but still i am not able to read the following properties : Account Expiration date, User cannot change password, user must change password at next logon.View 1 Replies View Related

I have a text box on a form. It is a masked text box that shows in the format XX/XX.It is used for the expiry date of a credit card. What I need to do is how to take a value like 08/11 which means August, 2011 and check that it is in the future. For example something like 08/09 would be last year and hence would be invalid. Is there any way to take this string and check?View 3 Replies View Related

I'm developing a revised version of a system I have been using for years, but with all the advantages of .NET features that were not around when I first made this. It's proving a steep learning curve! So, when a user logs in through my Login.aspx page which simply compares username/password to Database record, the system creates a session variable containing the user's Username and various other things. There are two type of variable which will be common to all elements of this system
User Specific data, Username, Permissions, etc
Setting variables, drawn from a database of pre-set facilities which are setup within the system, some will determine which facilities work, how they work, and some will be dependent upon the User's permission. Obviously, I could set everything within the Session data, but that'd be inefficient wouldn't it? If I were to set these globally available variables in my App_Code, how would I go about setting this up so that, for example, those variables which require a database call, are set for the duration of the Logged-In session and do not require constant Database lookups? Further to that, those variables which are dependent on the session state, would need clearing on each LogOut. I am using VB.NET.

how I can ensure that conversion of a date to a string and a string to a date will give me the same date format.

I'm actually only interested in the date part as the label text shows so f is more than I want. But also, the day and month are reversed.

I have a date time as a string, eg. "2010-08-02", I'm trying to convert it to UTC with the following code snippet..DateTime.ParseExact("2010-08-02Z", "yyyy-MM-ddZ", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture)When I print to the console, I get the following: 8/1/2010 5:00:00 PM.Is there a reason why the date shows up as the date before the date I'm trying to parse? I could just add a day to this to advance to the original day.View 3 Replies View Related
I'm fairly new to ASP.NET & VB.I've been asked to take an existing textbox that is automatically filled with the current date and allow the user to either add a "+" or "-" and a number or a spcific number and convert that into a date.I underdstand the basic concept on how to do this, but I'm running into some problems using the proper commands in order for this to work. The Textbox is called txtDate. What I've tried to do is this:
If txtDate = '+' Or '-' Then
DateAdd("d", txtDate, today)
Here is what the whole thing looks like:

I am attempting to import data in a batch from an Excel Worksheet to a Sql Server database. Everything works except for the one date field in the spreadsheet. The date returned is off by four years from the value in the spreadsheet. Example: The Excel sheet has a date 10/24/2010 14:18, but when I look at the column in my query, the date is 10/23/2006 2:18. This pattern, 4 years and 1 day earlier, is repeated for every row in the worksheet.
The Excel column comes to me as a custom type, formatted m/d/yyyy h:mm. I receive this from an outside vendor and having them change the column is not going to be my simplest solution.
For what it's worth, the relevent part of the query is:
Select [Date Created] From MyWorksheet
I am currently working on a custom data type, and wanted to implement a = operator.
I data type is a nullable date that returns a string value if date was supplied.
I want to allow the variable to be set like this

I have two tables: a schedule table that contains information about how an employee is scheduled and a numbers table in which each number corresponds to a date.
I can do this on the SQL side or the code side. I have Linq at my disposal if I need it. The table doesn't need to be compiled by SQL. This will happen dynamically on a website and should be as efficient as possible.I don't want to have to iterate through each and look for breaks in contiguous days if I don't have to.
I'm trying to write a program which compares the difference between any date in the past and the system date, showing how many days have elapsed since that date. This is what I've got so far:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub TextBox2_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
That's what it looks like so far. I was wondering how you can automate the top label so it automatically comes up with the date when the program is run.Plus, I need to know how to display the dates difference (how many days have elapsed between the system date and the user's chosen date) in the bottom label.
Would it be possible to search a table, confining to a specific date range based on a date-time column, and get a count of the 10 most used words in a particular var-char column excluding a list of words? All in SQL?Currently I am pulling out the records that match and sorting through the contents outside of SQL, I would think where I can do it directly on the server it would be more efficient.(SQL 2008)View 4 Replies View Related

I have a calendar column which is generated on from load. Its value is assigned to todays date - for instance 04/04/2012
I also have a comboBox with a list of months.
Is there a way I can change the value of my calendar column to reflect the chosen month?
For example, if I select January from my comboBox then have the date as 01/01/2012.[code]...
It is supposed to change the forecolor if the listview date in the first column is less than label 3's date.
For ii = 0 To Me.ListView1.Items.Count - 1
Dim iInvoiceDate As ListViewItem = Me.ListView1.Items(ii)
If iInvoiceDate.ToString < Me.Label3.Text Then
No errors and all the variables are returning what i am expecting but it doesn't change the forecolor.
I have several records in a database that have Start and End Dates
09/15/2011 - 09/30/2011
10/15/2011 - 10/22/2011
11/01/2011 - 11/15/2011
When user stores a record, I need to make sure dates don't overlap. My simple code checks date ranges within a specific record (e.g. user enters 9/16/2011 or 10/21/2011, I throw an exception.)But, on the slim chance a user gets creative (e.g. 10/14/2011 - 10/23/2011 or even 10/14/2011 to 11/16/2011), now they have circumvented my check.BTW, the user could enter 10/14/2011 to 10/23/2011 if they were editing the record that contained values 10/15/2011 - 10/22/2011.So, I'm trying to solve this riddle with a linq query. However, what I have isn't working exactly right.

I'm trying to compare the modify date of a file vs the current system date. I've found an MSDN article describing how to get the modify time of a file:
Dim infoReader As System.IO.FileInfo
infoReader = My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFileInfo("C: estfile.txt")
MsgBox("File was last modified on " & infoReader.LastWriteTime)
This gest the Date and Time, but I want just the Date not the time.
I am using VB.NET. Is there a date function that calculates the date based on the number of months I have given?
for example, if i say July 2009 and looking for 10 months back, it should return Sept 2008.
I need to compare the date that is entered with today's date minus some number of work days.
I used dateinterval.day, but that is the actual day, not the work day. i don't see a "simple" way to get work days.
For example, my number is 3, so i want 3 work days (M-F) not 3 days.
i am using date time picker and i am selecting 1 date from calender.after selection of that date i want to refresh date time picker i.e. it should display todays date.View 2 Replies View Related

So there's this accounting package at my client that spits out text-based reports with invalid dates, like February 31st or September 31st.The reports are formatted with spaces and mono-spaced fonts. The data that gets parsed out are fed into a more formal local SSRS report, and that's about all you need to know.
What I am interested in fixing is the situation where a date is invalid and can't be converted into a DateTime struct. The date format from the report is "MMM-dd-yy" (e.g. "Feb-30-10"). The date strings need to be fixed before being shown in the formal report. I've seen this done two ways in my time as a developer, and I want to come up with a cleverer way of doing it (if there isn't a built-in way I don't know about). The first bad method (I can't believe I'm even showing you!):
Dim month As Integer = <Parse out the month from the bad date string>
Dim day As Integer = <Parse out the day from the bad date string>
Dim year As Integer = <Parse out the year from the bad date string>
Dim validDate As DateTime
I have an Sql server 2005 table called Emploeefl with 2 fields, EmployeeCode and Date of Birth. The data type for the date of birth is Datetime. I have a Date time picker on a vb.net 2005 form called dtDateOfbirth. When I click on the save button I get the error message "Conversion from string 'yyyy/MM/dd' is not valid. Below is the code
Dim newQE_Date As Date
newQE_Date = Format(Me.dtDateOfBirth.ToString, "yyyy/MM/dd")
'newQE_Date = String.Format("2008/09/10", "yyyy/MM/dd")
We have a very massive system where reports are run off dates from specific days through to today's date using various definitions of "GenerateSalesReport(DateStart, Date.Now)". For debugging purposes I want to simulate reports that occurred in the past so I need to change the object "Date. Now" to a specific date from the past on my development environment. Can you override date. Now?View 3 Replies View Related
I am using SSIS and I need to transform a date. How can I transform a date in String format (e.g. 14/09/1980) to the same but in date format in VB.NET?
I would like the datetime format to insert it into a SQL database.
I'm trying to get datetime value but here is issue with nullable datetype.

I have a string that holds a value in the format of ddMMyyhhmmss.
I need to be able to convert this date to a real .NET Date object.
I am currently using CDate but it seems CDate does not recognize the format, is there any way of specifying the string format to CDate ???
row.Item("NoteDate") = CDate(n.noteText.Substring(0, 12).ToString).ToString("dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm:ss")
I am trying to parse a date from a textbox and store it in a date variable
Dim enddt_2 As Date = Date.ParseExact(txtenddt.Text, "dd/MM/yyyy", System.Globalization.DateTimeFormatInfo.InvariantInfo) 'txtenddt.Text
expenddt_1 = enddt_2.AddDays(-1)
enddt = enddt_2.ToString("dd/MM/yyyy")
enddt is a Date variable and when i convert enddt_2 to a string i get the error as
Conversion from string "17/01/2012" to type 'Date' is not valid.
Let me clarify, if a value in textbox is 17/01/2012 than after parsing the value is changed to 01/17/2012 (my systems Region and Language are dd/MM/yyyy) in enddt_2 and when i try to convert to dd/MM/yyyy format and store into a date variable i get the above error. This error comes only for the dates after 12. i.e a date variable accepts a date in MM/dd/yyyy format. The dates before 12 work fine, i.e for all dates from 1 to 12 there is no error. How can i make enddt store the date in dd/MM/yyyy format.
I am using ASP.NET with SQL Server 2005.
My date get saved in the database with data type = "smalldatetime".
I am displaying the date value into a text box called txtDate with a Reader......
Dim conn As Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection
Dim Comm As Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand
Dim reader As Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader
But currently my date get displayed as "2008/06/30 12:00:00 AM" and i want to display it as "30 June 2008".
I have a date I'm reading from an API in the following format:2010-03-15T00:00:00-04:00
When assigned to a date datatype in C#/VB.net, it's displayed as:
3/14/2010 11:00:00 PM //Note 3/15 is being displayed as 3/14
why is this displayed as the previous day? Is there a name for the format above?
For example, today is 05/11/2009, I have two text box.
Actually it means that whatever what date i choose within the current month, the two textbox will display the last three months date.
For Example, Current Month is November 2009 , Textbox 1 will show 01/08/2009, Textbox 2 will show 31/10/2009.
Another example is Current Month is January 2009, Textbox 1 will show 01/10/2009, Textbox 2 will show 31/12/2008.
May I know how the vb.net code should look like?
I'm working in visual studio 2005 and developing a windows form that has a datagridview on it.
One of the cells is a Calendar Column type (custom made). I pulled the code for it off the internet - it basically allows the user to select the date from a small calendar.
When the date is changed, it gets the correct value and it also saves into the database with the correct value.
The problem is that it doesn't load onto the grid with the correct value. In fact, no matter what date I enter in, it always displays it as 1 day earlier. e.g. If I saved it to the database as 4/19/2012, it displays it as 4/18/2012.
I verified that there's no other column in the query that retrieves the data for the grid that contains the value it's displaying.
What I am trying to create is a log in system, and in one of my forms I want to limit the date entered into a form. For example a user cannot enter a date more than seven days from todays date Which is what i achieved but what i am stuck on is preventing a user entering a date in the future
The problem that I'm having is that when I try to select a different date, the text doesn't go away. That may make no sence, but let me tell y'all what I've done.
1: Created a GroupBox
2: Put a DateTimePicker in the GroupBox
3: Put TextBoxs in the GroupBox
4: Changed the DateTimePicker to look like this:
A)Checked - False
B)Allow Drop - True
I thought that if I changed that, then the text in the text box would go to that specific date. It didn't do that, it just stays the same. What I'm trying to do is enter text in say 3/7/11 and when I choose date 6/12/12 it will display blank text boxes for me to enter something different.
