I am trying to change the background randomly from a selected list after a certain amount of time. I have the array set-up and I have it picking a random path (ex c:images est.jpg). I found in the registry the background image settings. I tried setting the registry key to the path but it seems like there is more to it than that because it doesn't change it. I also saw where it stored the file and tried changing it but again it doesn't change it. The funny thing is if I go to display properties afterwards it shows the correct image just doesnt set it. If I then click a different image and go back to it then it sets it. How can I make it update the background?

so if i say want to cruise 29 miles at 12 knts it gives me an awnser of 2 hours 24.6 mins instead of 2 hours 25. Although i do realise that 2 hrs 24.6 is technicaly right i was wondering if anyone here could help me with getting it into the correct format?
im trying to make a fast food program on which the user will input the amount that he has, then he will check on what he wants, by using check boxes. There are 7 different check boxes with 7 different amounts of money. I have the program somewhat finished (thanks for the people that helped me before) but theres still a couple of things that I still need to get finished but I dont know how to.I need to be able to get how much money the user has (this will be entered threw a text box, I think I accidentally messed this part up, because I cant get it to work right, (theres alreasy a permit amount of money in there and it needs to be what the user enters instead of the permit, 5.59, one) and this will be the maximum amount he can spend, then the user will check on the food he wants (and the program will add the sales tax also) then it will produce an answer saying if you have enough money or if you dont. But what im confused on is how do I get the users amount of money and make it the maximum mount he can spend and make sure it doesnt go over the amount that he has checked.[code]

However the actual position of all the objects should be visualized on the MainForm after each calculation-cycle.The calculation should be done continously in the BackGroundWorker-thread (unless stopped by the GUI).So far I initialize all the objects within the GUI-thread.Is it possible to do such calculations on the objects using the BackGroundWorker-thread although they are "owned" by the GUI-thread?Or do I have to "hand-over" all the objects to the the BackGroundWorker-thread, calculte one cycle and then "hand-over" the objects back to the GUI?

I have a user control that inherits the FW ListView and I need to dispose of two objects when the form's disposing of it's objects. Here's what I've concluded already, am I on the right track?

long story short, I have created a ListView type control, using UserControls for the parent control and the ListViewItems. Most the of the control is written and works fine, right up to the point where I tried to replicate the 'Control.SelectedItems(0).Index' property and the 'SelectedIndexChanged' event.
Each child object knows its index value, and could pass this value via the SelectedIndexChanged event (assuming this is how it works in a normal ListView control -- user clicks on an item, and that item fires an event updating the selected index value in the parent object).
How does the child object raise an event in the parent object? I have a feeling this could be done with Delegates, but I'm still learning about their usage.

In my Windows Form I have a ComboBox that is filled by a Stored Procedure with a list of names. I have the Combobox set for AutoComplete to "Suggest" and From "ListItems". When a user starts to type in and the AutoComplete does not find any matches in the listitems the user can tab out of the ComboBox and leave what they typed in the combobox even though it is not one of the Valid Items. Is there a way to check the Comboxbox to make sure of of the selected Items has been selected?

I was planning to just create a settings with "files" and "dirs", and just store the strings as | separated values (since that's an illegal file character).

I'm trying to get this to work so I can return only a list of items, instead of a list of items and the selected value. Is there a way to make the DropDownList select the selected ListItem from the ListItemCollection (or any other type of collection)?
