How To Group Properties End Fields In User Defined Class
Mar 21, 2011
Suppose I want to build a class like
Class MyClass inherit Something
Dim A as string Bim B as integer
End Class When I am writing code, and i want to use thesenew properties or fields, the intellisense shows me the new properties and fields mixed with those inherited. Is there a way to show them all grouped togheter separated from those inherited ( a part giving them a common prefix in the name)?
How can I access (read, write, create, delete) user-defined fields for single contacts in Outlook directly via the Exchange Web Service? I need to create/name a field and set a value (it should be viewable in the Outlook contact > "All Fields")I've found some code to set extended properties - it worked, so I could set and also read some values. >> but its not listed in "All Fields" of an contact.I'm using Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007 - but it should also work with other Versions (Exchange 2003, 2007 and Outlook 2003)
I am having some trouble using Refelction to list the properties of a user defined structure. I need to get a list of the properties and their values.[code]
I would like to make a "deep copy" of a class object that I have defined. See Visual Basic 2005 Code below
Dim MyStuff1 as new MyClass Dim MyStuff2 as new MyClass mystuff1.getbyID(anID) mystuff2 = mystuff1
Unfortunately the statement "mystuff2 = mystuff1" makes a "shallow copy" of mystuff1. Therefore, if mystuff1 is redefined then so is mystuff2. What do I have to do in MyClass to implement a deep copy method such that operations on mystuff1 and mystuff2 are independent?I would prefer something like
mystuff1.deepcopy(mystuff2) or mystuff2 = mystuff1.deepcopy()
I was knowing that For Each loop can only be applied to those classes that implement IEnumerable interface . But recently i accidentally wrote a code that is using For Each on my class's objects collection and my that class is not implementing IEnumerable interface .Below is the sample code that i am testing on :
Sub Main() Dim personList() As Person = New Person(2) {} personList(0) = New Person("s1", "s2")
I am in the process of migrating from VB6 to VB 2008. In a pixel grid system I have thousands of cells with about 15 properties each. In VB6 I employed the user-defined datatype "udtCell()" as my array structure. Is this still a good approach - or should I perhaps make Cell a class?
How do I set a User control (or a class with a few properties) to appear in the tan bar at the bottom of the Designer? I have tried googleing it but, I don't know what that bar is called (Kinda Hard to Google without know what to Google)
I'm trying to match up a specific group name and see if it exists for the currently logged in user using Active Directory roles. If the Group Name exists for the Current User, I want that group name to be displayed in a drop down list. Example: If current user is in BIG Group, display BIG in drop down list.Problem: All I am getting is SIDs and I'm not able to get anything to match up to the group name and nothing will show up in the drop down list.I also get the following Error:Error: Object variable or WIth block variable not set.How do I fix this?? here is the code I am using:
Private Sub GetMarketingCompanies() ' code to populate marketing company drop down list based on the current logged in users active directory group that
I'm currently refactoring an old Visual Basic DLL (VB.Net), which stores all of its data in one module called Globaldefinitions as public fields. There are about 200 fields, referenced thousands of times all around the code:
Public Module Globaldefinitons Public a As Short ... Public zz10 As Double
[Code]...
I need to change the module into a class with non-shared fields. This means, each and every of these thousands of references needs to reference the instance of that class:
globalDefinitionsInstance.a = 5
How do I go about this efficiently?
Regular expressions operating on the source fall flat. Refactoring tools like Re-Sharper or CodeRush don't seem to offer this functionality. Visual Studio 2010 cannot do it automatically either.
I am trying to redirect command line output to a list box in a vba macro, and I've found some code that I think might point me in the right direction, but I keep on getting the same error. When I use this code [code]It gives me the error in the title and highlights the first declaration line.What does it take to define a new "process".
Class Foo ReadOnly name As String Public Sub New(name As String, dependentUpon As Foo) Me.name = name
[code]....
The output of New Bar() is:
Dependent created. Dependent upon nothing. Independent created. Dependent upon nothing.
It seems fields are initialized in the same order as they appear in the source code, which (a) leads to an unexpected result, and (b) seems a little puzzling, given that one is normally not permitted to read from uninitialized variables in .NET, yet that seems to be working fine above.I would've expected VB.NET to be smart enough to initialize referenced fields first, and only then those that reference it; i.e. I'd have liked to see this output instead:
Independent created. Dependent upon nothing. Dependent created. Dependent upon Independent.
how to get VB.NET to behave like that instead, without simply having to swap the declaration order of dependent and independent inside class Bar?
I am using vb.net 2005. I am trying to set report groupings of a crystal report at runtime based on user defined options. MSDN says this: Dim FieldDef As FieldDefinition FieldDef = Report.Database.Tables.Item(0).Fields.Item(comboBox1().Text) Report.DataDefinition.Groups.Item(0).ConditionField = FieldDef But error shows invalid group number
My LINQ query contains the following Group By statement:
Group p By Key = New With { _ .Latitude = p.Address.GeoLocations.FirstOrDefault(Function(g) New String() {"ADDRESS", "POINT"}.Contains(g.Granularity)).Latitude, _ .Longitude = p.Address.GeoLocations.FirstOrDefault(Function(g) New String() {"ADDRESS", "POINT"}.Contains(g.Granularity)).Longitude}
The query works, but here is the SQL that the clause above produces
SELECT [t6].[Latitude] FROM ( SELECT TOP (1) [t5].[Latitude]
[Code]....
but this produced an error: "A group by expression can only contain non-constant scalars that are comparable by the server."
I am trying to write a module that will select cells from multiple, non-contiguous columns within a row that is defined by a variable. The column numbers are known and are unchanging. For example, my worksheet might look like this:
A B C D Row 1 X X X X
I want to select cells A1, B1, and D1; however, I don't want to use the row number (1 in this case) in my code. Rather, I want the row number to be specified as a variable. The code I am writing is inside a For/Next loop, so I would like to use the iterative variable (i in this case) to define the row number. That way, every iteration of the For loop will select cells from a different row.
I tried it and get an error but maybe I'm tring the wrong way. Can a usercontrol inherate an application defined class ie.. could you inheritance a classic rect class into a user control to add the hight and width properties to the control without having to do all the coding all over again? Currently I just declair a private instance of the class within the control and then encapsalate. It would be nice if I could just inherit all the functionality of my classes into controls designed to implament the classes.
I've created a couple of Comparer classes for FileInfo objects to allow sorting by Name and LastWriteTime properties, but ideally I'd like to combine them into once class, so that I can compare/sort by any property simply by passing through the chosen property name.However, I don't know how to go about this. My comparer class current includes:
Dim oX As FileInfo = CType(x, FileInfo) Dim oY As FileInfo = CType(y, FileInfo) Dim Result As Int16 = oX.Name.CompareTo(oY.Name)
I want to be able to substitute the Name property with the property name stored in the _sortColumn variable.I'm expecting the solution to be rather simple, but as yet, I haven't been able to figure it out!
Solution:I'd already got as far as researching Reflection, and had stumbled across PropertyInfo. But Fredriks solution cut down my search and provided a bit of structure, and I've come up with this (VB.Net) solution which seems to work nicely:
I have 53 text boxes in my windows forms application. I need to save the "text" of all the textboxes into a single file. Is there a way, I can control all the textboxes as a single textbox group and use its properties.
For example: Can I write something like : For i As Integer = 0 to 52 Textboxgroup.text = TextBox(i).Text Next ??
I am using Cecil to try to read my attributes properties:
[AttributeUsage(AttributeTargets.Method, AllowMultiple = false, Inherited = false)] public sealed class TraceMethodAttribute : Attribute { public TraceMethodAttribute() { MethodStart = true;
[code]....
This is, I'd like this last block of code to check whenever the attribute applied to Main, for example, has MethodMessages set to true or false. From what I've seen, it seems like both attributes.Fields.Count and attributes.Properties.Count is set to 0. Why is it?
In our IDE, for example, Visual Studio, if we display the properties of a System.Windows.Forms.Button control, we see some properties that expose anoter set of properties. For example: FlatAppearance, Font, Location, Margin, etcetera.I would like to do something similar in a custom control.I know the code behind is wrong, but here is an example of what I´m trying to do:
Public Class StateOfMyCustomControl Public Enum EnumVisibility Visible
[code]....
In my IDE, in the properties window of my custom control, I would like to see my property State, with the possibility of display it to set the properties Visibility and EventManagement.
I spent a lot of time on this problem. I am able to do simple Group By LINQ queries (on one property) but for multiple fields I'm a little stuck... Here is a LINQPad sample of what I want to do :
dim lFinal={new with {.Year=2010, .Month=6, .Value1=0, .Value2=0}, new with {.Year=2010, .Month=6, .Value1=2, .Value2=1}, new with {.Year=2010, .Month=7, .Value1=3, .Value2=4},
I have classes which have automatic properties only like public customerName {get; set;}. They are public because they are accessed outside the class. They can also be accessed inside the class. They offer good encapsulation and better debugging. I can put a breakpoint on one if I need to know who is accessing it and when.My question is what are the disadvantages of using properties only with no corresponding fields? I can make the setter or getter private, internal.. etc which means I also have flexibility of scoping it when needed.
I'm making a control and I am trying to finalize my design time properties grid. I have several List(of Class) items as public properties and when I click on the design time menu (while testing the control) there is the word "Collection" and a button with an ellipsis (...) that brings up a neat pop up with the buttons Add/remove and all of the public properties of the collection's class on the right hand side. Basically for a non-collection instance of a class (with public properties) I'd like a similar button to show up. I know I could put all of the properties in the main control class and group them, but I like the pop up box feature. Anyway to duplicate this? (think font grid item etc.)
