I am in the process of migrating from VB6 to VB 2008. In a pixel grid system I have thousands of cells with about 15 properties each. In VB6 I employed the user-defined datatype "udtCell()" as my array structure. Is this still a good approach - or should I perhaps make Cell a class?
I am trying to redirect command line output to a list box in a vba macro, and I've found some code that I think might point me in the right direction, but I keep on getting the same error. When I use this code [code]It gives me the error in the title and highlights the first declaration line. What does it take to define a new "process".
Following is my code. Private Structure DISPLAY_ELEMENT_TYPE

Actually this is vb6 to .net converted code. I m getting compile error at following line
temp = Lset(DispElem(i)) bcz Lset is not supported in .Net Lset accept string data type for first parameter and interger for second. If you know any alternet solution or if you have any source code for Explicit convert UDT to string type and vice versa.
i want to know how to type cast to user defined type in vb.net.I have a mark object which contains student id , subject name, subject id and mark. I have to read the subject id from a combo box and read corresponding mark value from it to a text box.
I have been having some trouble today with a User-Control of mine. Is what is happening is when I try to build an application with the control in it, the Form.Designer has an Error saying that Namespace.ControlClass is not defined. I have no idea what the problem might be and hope that one of you do.The weird thing is that the Control Builds just fine and I can drag it from toolbox to the form and THAT works. Also, it works just fine in Design-time. It didn't start erroring until either, I upgraded it to VS2010 or until I changed it a bit today. If necessary, I can post it here.
First I put it inside a Module and it works just fine. However when I created a Class and put it inside it, it showed up some errors. (they are in the code's comments)
Public Class MyImageClass 'function to merge 2 images into one Public Function Merge(ByVal img1 As Image, ByVal img2 As Image) As Image 'Type 'Image' is not defined Dim bmp As New Bitmap(Math.Max(img1.Width, img2.Width), img1.Height + img2.Height) 'Type 'Bitmap' is not defined [Code] .....
I tried importing the System.Drawing namespace to this class which didn't change anything either. I've never really touched the OOP side of VB.NET before, this is my first attempt creating a class.
I apologize in advance about asking a newbie question. I am a less-than-intermediate programmer who has done most of his work in VB6, and now trying to wrap my mind around the new concepts of the NET languages. In VB 2010, I have a Structure called "Direction", with one data member -- an integer named "Value". It's supposed to represent a value of degrees from 0 to 359.
i'm using VB.net 2003 application program. i'm trying to convert a VB6 program to VB.NET. The VB6 code i'm trying to convert is shown below. declared g_Share() array in module and trying to add values to it inside form.
i'm using VB.net 2003 application program. i'm trying to convert a VB6 program to VB.NET. The VB6 code i'm trying to convert is shown below.declared g_Share() array in module and trying to add values to it inside form. VB6 (Code inside Module)'Global type array to hold printer info.
Public Type OShare PrinterName As String BackupName As String CurrId as Integer End Type
'Declare dynamic array for printer info as user-defined type declared above.
Public g_Share() As OShare VB6 (Code inside Form) Public Sub LoadPrinters()

when pgm runs and when it reach ".PrinterName = myReader(0)" line, it crashes. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. using immediate window i can see the myReader(0) value. how can i create dynamic array for user-defined type in vb.net?
I would like to make a "deep copy" of a class object that I have defined. See Visual Basic 2005 Code below
Dim MyStuff1 as new MyClass Dim MyStuff2 as new MyClass mystuff1.getbyID(anID) mystuff2 = mystuff1
Unfortunately the statement "mystuff2 = mystuff1" makes a "shallow copy" of mystuff1. Therefore, if mystuff1 is redefined then so is mystuff2. What do I have to do in MyClass to implement a deep copy method such that operations on mystuff1 and mystuff2 are independent?I would prefer something like
mystuff1.deepcopy(mystuff2) or mystuff2 = mystuff1.deepcopy()
I have a User defined table type(UDTT) in Sql 2008 I am writing VB Code to send data to Stored procedure that uses it as a parameter I have found that the datatable i build in VB has have columns in same order as udtt when passing it to SQl from VB Currently I have this roughly
In SQL Server Create type table my_table Field1 varchar(10) Field2 varchar(10)
I was knowing that For Each loop can only be applied to those classes that implement IEnumerable interface . But recently i accidentally wrote a code that is using For Each on my class's objects collection and my that class is not implementing IEnumerable interface .Below is the sample code that i am testing on :
Sub Main() Dim personList() As Person = New Person(2) {} personList(0) = New Person("s1", "s2")
End Class When I am writing code, and i want to use thesenew properties or fields, the intellisense shows me the new properties and fields mixed with those inherited. Is there a way to show them all grouped togheter separated from those inherited ( a part giving them a common prefix in the name)?
i am developing a windows application using vb.net and sql server. I have a windows form in which there is datagridview that calculates the 3 rates for a product E.g Pogo Lunch Box its cost price is 10 Rs. now we need to calculate 3 types of rate
rate 1 is 5% added to cost price = 10.50 rate 2 is 7% added to cost price= 10.70 rate 3 is 10% added to cost price.= 11
everything is fine till now, I am very able to do this... Now my problem sometimes the user may change the rates whatever he wants as eg. in this case rate1 maybe 10.80
how to convert a VB6 "User Defined Type" to a VB.Net Structure. I'm lost on the internal array declaration and fixed length strings. Here are my VB6 Type Declarations.
In BTSegment how do I declare fixed length strings in Structure? in BTStatus how do I declare Seg(MAXSEGMENTS) As BTSegment 'Index Segment Structure
i am using vb .net and importing excel sheet to ms access. i am doing this work very well. but i want that when a user select the excel file to import, than user must asked for the data types that he want for the different fields, by default when user imports the excel file it assign the text data type to text filed such as name and number data type to numeric field such as roll_no. but i want that user select the data type according to his need.
code that i use is to import file is given below:
Imports System.Data.OleDb Imports excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel Public Class Form2
i am trying to read an existing excel 2007 file from vb.net i used a form with single button and i written code in button click event code is :[code...]
How can i get the same output as the VB results. And i have tired it ! Type conversions, math functions, everything i can think of to get the same VB6 output !
I need something tje user can type in data to such a parts QTY cost etc. There are no predefined parts list so the user can enter any part name/Number and there is no limit to amount of parts that can be entered.
Does anyone have any idea what might be useful. It was thinks of a listview bu i can't see that you can type into that. I cant use comboboxs because there are no predefined list and i know there is some way to generate text at runtime (i think) but i don't know how to do it and i would prefer a clearer approach.
I have this code working. It sets the Visible property of controlToSecure to False. [Code] However I would like to get rid of hardcoding types of properties. In this case i'm hardcoding Boolean. Instead I would like to define the property type dynamically. I tried it like below but I get an error on line 2 "Type property Type is not defined". I just defined that type on the line before though? Does anyone know why this doesn't work and how i could get it to work? [Code]
Public Pixels(0 To 95, 0 To 127) As Variant Red = Pixels(X, Y) And &HFF i get this code from VB6, and when i transfer to VB05 i got problem said " Operator 'And' is not defined for type 'Color' and type 'Integer'. " i sent to VS2005
Public Pixels(0 To 95, 0 To 127) As Object Dim red As Object Red = Pixels(X, Y) And &HFF
Is it possible to create a user control with a list of custom class type property? If it is, how can I? The issue is that, in designer mode the property is not displayed in property window. I can add the list on markup but when i switch to the designer mode it gives an error which is 'The user control does not have a public property named BookList'.
I wish to put the XMLSerializer behind a 'facade' class of mine so that user wont have to supply type info to the constructor. But doing this has a problem. Consider this class:
Class XmlFormatter Private Shared xs As XmlSerializer Public Function Deserialize(ByVal serializationStream As Stream) As Object Dim o As Object = Nothing
[code]....
The problem is that the user of this class cannot use Deserialize without first using Serialize because the XMLSerializer instance is created in Serialize and it is shared. But using Deserialize without this instance will simply return Nothing.
In my application when i click the button i'm getting this" Operator '=' is not defined for type 'Char' and type 'Boolean'." But when i test it locally there is no problem at all!
