The problem is I am able to extract the data by giving cell reference like: TextBox1.Text = objWorksheet.Cells(5, 2).value
But I want to select a row as per input given by user and want to extract data from that row.
The input given by user is in text format, in my case name of employee. And I have to extract address of that name.

i am using vb .net and importing excel sheet to ms access. i am doing this work very well. but i want that when a user select the excel file to import, than user must asked for the data types that he want for the different fields, by default when user imports the excel file it assign the text data type to text filed such as name and number data type to numeric field such as roll_no. but i want that user select the data type according to his need.

With vb.net I would like to select 4 cells in Excel and then pass those cell values along with 1 button tag to a formula in Excel.I press a button with a month, say "May" as text. I want to grab a cell in Excel labeled "May1t" the value of which is the number of hours until may. This is the code I'm using.

I have created a database in VB2008.NET using SQL 2008. My problem is that while I am in the form where I see the the data, I want to retrieve backwards the related data from Owner and Car eg. the owners name and the car model.

I cannot figure out how to incorporate the number of days into the input box then get it to loop and count the number of times the User inputs in the number of days. Then I have to incorporate it into the equation to get the total distance D = MPH * Hours. What I have right now wil not count up the number of days and locks up after I input one number and will not add anything to the listbox. Because I also have to make sure that they cant add nonnumaric values and the number of hours per day cannot exceed 20. i am developing a windows application using vb.net and sql server. I have a windows form in which there is datagridview that calculates the 3 rates for a product E.g Pogo Lunch Box its cost price is 10 Rs. now we need to calculate 3 types of rate
rate 1 is 5% added to cost price = 10.50
rate 2 is 7% added to cost price= 10.70
rate 3 is 10% added to cost price.= 11
everything is fine till now, I am very able to do this... Now my problem sometimes the user may change the rates whatever he wants as eg. in this case rate1 maybe 10.80

I need something tje user can type in data to such a parts QTY cost etc. There are no predefined parts list so the user can enter any part name/Number and there is no limit to amount of parts that can be entered.
Does anyone have any idea what might be useful. It was thinks of a listview bu i can't see that you can type into that. I cant use comboboxs because there are no predefined list and i know there is some way to generate text at runtime (i think) but i don't know how to do it and i would prefer a clearer approach.
I am in the process of migrating from VB6 to VB 2008. In a pixel grid system I have thousands of cells with about 15 properties each. In VB6 I employed the user-defined datatype "udtCell()" as my array structure. Is this still a good approach - or should I perhaps make Cell a class?

On the main form of my application, I have a Rich Text Box which is where the user will be entering information. The text is black. then, i have a button which calls the dialogue "Notes" A dialogue appears, with a rich text box. the user should then be able to enter text into the box, click "OK", and the text entered into the Notes dialogue be inserted to the rich text box on the main form -- with the font colour "Red". The rest of the text in the main rich text box on the main form should remain black.

I am working on an in house application. I am coding a simple application in vb .net. This applications takes a few inputs from user and calculates a result. Now I want to implement a simple functionality that user should be able to save the input and results just like most of the windows programs can in a new file format. And user should be able to open the save file when desired.

Then I need the program to count how many times, the letter appears in the phrase. I have everything set up. I know how to count how many characters are in the string, but not how many designated letters there is.
