When i use VB6 i get the following outputs
961.605 * 100 = 96161
936.495 * 100 = 93650
929.295 * 100 = 92929
NOW..... When i do the above in vb.net 2005 i get the following
961.605 * 100 = 96160
936.495 * 100 = 93650
929.295 * 100 = 92930
How can i get the same output as the VB results. And i have tired it ! Type conversions, math functions, everything i can think of to get the same VB6 output !

View 5 RepliesI'm using the Double data type in a subroutine and it's giving inaccurate results. Basically I've got:
Dim Temp as Double
Dim A,B as Single
Dim C as Byte
Temp=A*B/C
When A=996 B=4 and C=1.6 Temp should be 2490 but that's not the case. I get something like 2489.9999628961091. This later screws up another calculation that's based on getting the value and remainder.Whatever the case I set the Temp variable to Single and it works. What I want to know is WHY does this happen? I'm a bit confused.
How do you validate input when you are dealing with doubles. I have successfully gotten the message box to pop up when the user enters a number in a text field, but what if I have a text box that requests a number from the user and they enter text? View 2 RepliesI wrote some software in Vb6 a long while ago and this program creates a datafile. This datafile stores variables like doubles, ints, arrays etc, using the Get/Put methods from VB6. This all worked great for vb6.I am now starting to rewrite this tool in .net and find that the binaryreader as well as the other fileopen methods do not convert the doubles correctly. So as I rewrite the software I still want to read the old datafiles just like before.if I use a byte array and read 8 bytes, the bytes read are identical in Vb6 and vb.net. We are talking about reading an existing old binary file created by vb6.
for example the number 3, stored as a double has a 8 byte array that looks like this:
[0][0][0][0][0][0][0][5] in vb6.
in vb.net if you use the bitconverter.getbytes(cdbl(3)) you get
[0][0][0][0][0][0][8]64]
in vb6 the first array is converted to the # 3 correctly.in vb.net the array is converted to something way way off.

This is returned by an API, so I can't just change it to decimal.The variable gets populated with this: 5.37979542325911E-315, which I took to mean that the current balance was $5.3797. This is incorrect!
So my question to you guys is: How do I convert a double to a data type I can use for currency?
Note: Cdec() and other casting to decimals hasn't workd. It's set the decimal to 0D.
I've been just making random programs trying to get the hang of the new language this time I was making a leap frog game where it switches back and forth beetween frogs every time a button is pressed. It also checks if the frog can land in the text box above the button pressed, if there is another frog there a message box will pop up saying sorry space is filled other wise the frog should land there.

In both cases something has to be loaded, however when a double click occurs, I do not wish to execute the code attached to the single click event.Is there a way to intercept the mouse click's and check if double or single and then execute the right event appropriately?
View 2 RepliesI have a htpc project that I am working on. The main program loads dll plugins which are basically other win forms. On each of these forms, including the main program, I use a picturebox (a double buffered picturebox) for the background image and then draw everything on it by hand. Whenever I load the form from the dll and show it, I get a weird flicker. It looks like it is the previously used double buffer. Is there any way to clear the background double buffer before the flicker? Or am I going in the wrong direction?

If I remove the datagridview code the 1st part of the program runs fine and works well, it is when I add in the datagridview that the error occers.
I have code that loops through a string array to add words one at a time to a line of limited length. I am trying to fit a phrase on up to four lines, centering the words on each line. My code appears to add the first word but on the 2nd word I get a "conversion from string "IS" to type 'Double' is not valid" error.
