I have a report that I want to filter using a From Date Text Box (which is a string) and a To Date Text Box (which is a string) so the user will insert a start date and and end date to filter the report, how would I do that? This is what I have:

When user stores a record, I need to make sure dates don't overlap.My simple code checks date ranges within a specific record (e.g. user enters 9/16/2011 or 10/21/2011, I throw an exception.)But, on the slim chance a user gets creative (e.g. 10/14/2011 - 10/23/2011 or even 10/14/2011 to 11/16/2011), now they have circumvented my check.BTW, the user could enter 10/14/2011 to 10/23/2011 if they were editing the record that contained values 10/15/2011 - 10/22/2011.So, I'm trying to solve this riddle with a linq query. However, what I have isn't working exactly right.

Should I pass a parameter in the query or shouldn't this suffice? edit2: i've checked the SQL and it does show the correct date format to search for (ie, dd/MM/yyyy)... but when I hover the mouse cursor over over 'dtiAsAtDate.Value' it comes up as '#mm/dd/yyyy#'.
I've got a date variable that looks like this:

How to use a DateTimePicker to query a database table. Basically, when a day is chosen on the DateTimePicker, I want all the database entries for that day to be populated on Datagridview. I need an SQL querry to select all the sales from a certain date, with the summed sales grouped by salesmanID. The problem with the querry is that the data in the salesDate field is in a long format (with dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:sss) and I dont know how to set the querry to disregard the "time" info, and take in account the "date" part only.

I have a program (below) which runs an SQL query on an Access database to bring back records based on the date a user selects. This issue seems to be that US date formats are the only date formats that SQL queries accept. I may be wrong, but this is my understanding. All my dates in the database are in EU date format (dd/mm/yyyy). What happens when i run my code is that I can not access a record with the date of 08/05/2010 unless the input date is 05/08/2010.

I've been running into some errors with converting strings to dates in the following code. I have recently added the intcall.Value = DateTime.Parse(txtIntCallDate.Text) function which had gotten rid of the error message, however the records are not being updated, any of them on the form. Prior to this the strings were being updated just fine. As long as there is a date entered on the form there is no error, if it's left blank i get the "Problem converting string to datetime"

Now the user can decide to fill all the fields and query this i have done using AND OR in the sql syntax but the problem is when he decides to leave some blank my program is throwing an exception how can i skip the blank fields and only execute the WHERE clause for the filled boxes.

SELECT col1, col2 FROM table1 WHERE colDate = @date
The source of @date is a label with the text: 2009-05-29 12:06:00 I get the following error when I run the query:
Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string
I tried using convert(datetime, @date), as well as different date/time formatting of the label itself. Everytime I get the error.
However, when I run the query in the management studio like:
SELECT col1, col2 FROM table1 WHERE colDate = '2009-05-29 12:06:00'
I found out that the @date is parsed as 05-29-2009 01:30:00 TT I don't know where the TT is coming from? And I'm sure SQL Server wouldn't be able to handle it?
