The insertion part of the form works great. But my problem is in the form load part......If i leave a field blank(Null),then perform Save operation,close the form after successful insertion and then reopen the form,then it retains the previous values during the form load......This is only in case where i leave a field blank in the previous data entry in the database.......But if i enter values in all fields then form load is working great.
I need to manipulate data for 1000 boxes, each one of these boxes has 8 variables.How to declare an appropriate array? and how to load the array with the 8 variables for each box?
View 1 RepliesAfter the client finishes testing, they go to the results page and then my program returns them back to the secondary page.If they re-enter the testing page again, for a second go-around, with out completely leaving the program as I have been doing since I was tweaking the code after each run, the repetition counter is not resting back to Zero. Its still retains the information from the previous testing phase.
Example:The client chooses how many testing cycles they want to go through, from 1 to the total amount available to them to test. Right now its only 5.When they first start testing, it starts at 1 of 5, then progresses at one increment for each drug they test on. Once they reach 5 and answer their final question, the program then goes to the results page and then to back the secondary page. If they choose to re-enter the testing page without totally leaving the program, the testing page counter sits at 5 of 5. Shouldnt the page be resetting the variables each time it loads?
How can I load a form and allow it to run it's code in the form load but keep it not visible. I want it to do what it needs to but but not display.
View 3 RepliesI have an MVC application which sets some session variables based on internal static IP addresses.I have built an ApplicationController to override the OnActionExecuted sub in MVC for data that I need to use throughout my application.However, the code below, which is just a snippet of my code but is edited for my post, only partially works. On initial page load, the session variables aren't saved, but after a page refresh they are. The issue I have is that these need to be saved on the initial page load.
If Session("Item1") = Nothing Then
If IpAddressShort <> "" Then
Dim locInfo = cmsRepository.GetInfoBasedOnLocation(IpAddressShort).SingleOrDefault()
If locInfo IsNot Nothing Then
[code]....
Theoretically, if I'm correct, if there is no Session("Item1") set/if Session("Item1") is empty, then the rest of the snippet should run and set those variables.How come this isn't setting those variables on the first time the page load?
I would like to load a default created image at start. But seems to not be working on form load any ideas.[code]

When working with a collection of forms that the user must step through, is it better to pass the data foward when creating a new instance of that form, or is it better to call a function from the previous form? I have some code written that calls the previous routine, and it looks ugly, and I can't quite think of a reason why it was done that way. The only reason I could come up with was if the data was large, and there was a good chance that the user wouldn't use the data except in a special case.

How do i load the Main form of a WPF so that a seperate thread goes and gets data from the database while the form is in an apartmentstate? (drag-able / movable) I Know this is possible with opening a new window from your main form like this :
Private Sub openOrderWindow()
Dim OrderWindow As Orders = New Orders
OrderWindow.ShowDialog()
End Sub
[code]....
I've tried putting MyBase.ShowDialog() and .Show() and .9000+ other things The only benefit I've got out of using a seperate thread to load from the databse is i can see the screen right away (as oppose to it being a transparent box until it loads) but i cannot move it around or minimize it?is there any way to make it Movable while it loads?
i am asking about using the progress bar into the status bar to move when i load any child form inside the MDIParent form.

I get the same error message!!! "Declaration expected". Also I notice the variable's name is not coming up in intellisense. I have not come across this before as declaring an using variables and objects has been straight forward up until now.
I would like to pass variables variables from one form to another but the thing is that there is no variable that is actually being passed. I have tried to use instanciation
Dim f2 as form2
f2=new form2()
f3.textbox1.text="Whatever I want to pass",
but this did not work
I am using Visual Basic 2008 for this assignment. I have a project that I am working on and I need to be able to use form variables across the entire project.
I have looked on other forums but no definitive answers.iI have declared variables as such Public StrV21true As String and "Public StrV21False As String
Now apon assigning a string to the variable with an If Then Else Command, I go to the next form expecting that the assigned variable will be available for use in this second form but to my dismay it tells me that the variable has not been declared and will not even show up in Intellesence. Like I said before from research on the net I am using the public class in Form 1 to hold the variables and am kind of expecting the public class variables to be available through all the forms in the project. I would really like to know how to do this so as I can finish my project for class.
I've got a form in my MDI container. Lets call it Form1. I now want to show a dialog box (Form2) and pass the primary key from Form1 to Form2. Do i create a public function on Form2 called SetMe() or Do I create a public on Form1 And read from it? From a best Practice point of view, How would you go about it?
View 1 RepliesI am passing 2 variables from form1 to form2. In form2 I want it to where it will filter my dataset according to the variables in form1, before it's displayed. In form1 it works, but when passing those values (JT & WRID1) to form2, it doesn't work.
Form1:
Public Class Form1
Friend JT, WRID1 As String
Private Sub ShowForm2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ShowForm2.Click
JT = Me.dgvWLog.Rows(dgvWLog.CurrentRow.Index).Cells("dgvJT").Value.ToString
WRID1 = Me.dgvWLog.Rows(dgvWLog.CurrentRow.Index).Cells("dgvWRD1").Value.ToString
End Sub
End Class
Form2:
Dim s As New Form1
Dim JT As String = s.JT
Dim WRID1 As String = s.WRID1
Me.DataSet.Form2_Get.DefaultView.RowFilter = "WT = '" & JT & "' And WRID1 = '" & WRID1 & "'"
I have two forms. Form A and Form B. Form A has a datagrid that is populated from a SQL Database Table query. When a button is pressed Form B is launched that allows you to add a record to the database table. I need for the datagrid to be refreshed and show the newly added record when I close form B and go back to the parent.
[Code]...
i am having an issue populating two combo boxes on form load. The program will connect to an access database and pull data as instructed. Then as it pulls each record it puts it into the combo box.
This was working.. atleast i think it was. i dont recall it ever not working, however i wasn't looking for it.
My problem is that if when i load the MDI parent form and have it skip the selection form and the login form and load the next form in the sequence, it loads everything perfectly. However if the select form is loaded first, then the login form and then the form i need loaded, it will not populate. The only difference between the two different loads is that the login form calls a function that loads the form as a new project.form
I did this so that I can have multiple forms open at a time. I am assuming my problem is that I need to get the child forms handle then populating controls using that handle? but i think if I had to do that then I would beable to populate the comboboxes on the first form load using the login method of opening the form.
Here's my code.
vb.net
Private Sub frmLine1t5_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Me.Text = "Line " & LineNumber & " Test Form"
[Code].....
I want to load a child form which is a login form by default when the parent form is loaded.Right now when I click new file on the toolbar of the parent form, then only the login form is loaded but i want it be loaded by default without clicking anything.
View 10 RepliesI am after some code to load another form when the user closes the current form. I have tried this
[Code]...
I fear that there is something obviously wrong with my code, but I have come across a situation where the Form.Load event is not firing when I create and show my form. The form is not subclassed (as I've seen some problems with that in some searches), and I am not getting any errors thrown when I step through the code in the debugger.
I have a break point set on the IDE-created form load function (which does have the Handles MyBase.Load signature suffix) but the breakpoint is never reached and the form does display and work.The form is passed three arguments in the constructor but the IntializeComponent() function is called before anything else is done.

I have a small program which draws some lines with a method called: Drawlines But Now I want to call this method in the load form routine. So if the form is loaded the lines should be drawn in the picturebox. But is this possible or should the form first be loaded completely before you can call methods in that same form?
