Currently I have two tables in a Database (Temp, Main), currently I have four fields in Temp(ID, Qty, LastDate, AddRem), and Three in Main, (ID, Qty, LastDate). I have the program set up to enter in all the information minus AddRem into Temp, then my thought was to either tag the item to remove, or add to the Main table. I'm assuming this could be done by import then update, however every avenue I've attempted has been meet with Exception errors.For the add/remove field it is linked to a Combo Box, which brings me to my other question, how would you link a specific field to say hey if it's this option then add, and if's the other remove?

I would like to know the best, or standard, way to accomplish real-time client updates in a small multi-user application using an access data table as a data source.Specifically, this application will be used by 3-4 people. It uses a datatable which is filled on form load and bound to a datagrid at design time. The datatable is stored on a shared drive. The data table on the shared drive is updated in two ways:
1) Users can update the datagrid which then updates the datatable on the shared drive via the data adapter's Update method.
2) A server application does some work on some text files, periodically updating the data table.
I need the clients to reflect the changes to the data table on the shared drive as closely to real-time as possible. I know that the data table stored in memory on the client is disconnected from the data table on the shared drive, so I must query again to get the updates.
1) Is there an alternvative model I can use which is connected, and which will automatically reflect the updates in the data table on the shared drive?
2) If not, what is the best way to check for changes in the data table (so I can know when to call the data adapter fill method)? I am planning to poll the drive for a change to the .mdb file, raise an event and then fill the data adapter when the event is triggered. I am using this method successfully now to check for changes to a text file in another application, and I know how to implement it?

if it affects the run time of a program if I were to have multiple data tables as opposed to one data table with all my data in it? I am trying to minimize datagrids and just use code to access table data, in hopes that it will speed up my program. I am leaning VB and have created a basic inventory app for work that consist of 4 tables, CurrentInventory, Surplus, Staff and Category. Each of these tables have a corresponding form. My question is with the CurrentInventory and Surplus form/tables. I want a button on the CurrentInventory Form that when clicked the current record would be transferred to the Surplus table and deleted from the CurrentInventory table.I am assuming that I could somehow use the INSERT command to copy the current record to the surplus table but I am not sure how to accomplish this.

i have tried google and other sites.. but still cannot find solution. maybe i post the wrong question. but i manage to do this code. but its only shows only 1 record missing, but its supposed to show 5 records that r missing.
using visual studio 2010. I have a vb.net application that needs to be updated periodically. The software stores client lists in a database for the user, but when the user reinstalls the program after I send them an updated publish, the client list database is replaced with a fresh empty database.
Is there a way that the user can reinstall the software without losing their current database?
I don't know if I need to somehow make separate publishes. One for an initial install to set up the database, and then one for updates that leaves the client database untouched? I don't know how to go about it.
