Currently I have two tables in a Database (Temp, Main), currently I have four fields in Temp(ID, Qty, LastDate, AddRem), and Three in Main, (ID, Qty, LastDate). I have the program set up to enter in all the information minus AddRem into Temp, then my thought was to either tag the item to remove, or add to the Main table. I'm assuming this could be done by import then update, however every avenue I've attempted has been meet with Exception errors. For the add/remove field it is linked to a Combo Box, which brings me to my other question, how would you link a specific field to say hey if it's this option then add, and if's the other remove?
How can use vb.net forms to add or delete quantity in a field og ms sql data table.. EG: like in stock, we hv to add purchased stock and deduct selled stock.
I am working on an application for Point of Sale system in .Net 2008,vb with MsAccess as database and now i am on the final part of this application which is inventory module. Where in that module i have created Stock table and I have two tables related to stock.
This is my programs complete code, the only problem is i want to fix the amount of decimal places that show up in my gridview. The problem is if i do this on the asp side the location of the column gets thrown off and the column is duplicated. I figured if i just remade the table on the asp side it would work only problem is if i remove the sql for that particular column the asp side column cannot get data.

i have a problem regarding datagrid.remove and textbox. This is a Function to Add and Subtract Values on a specific Column. If I cellclick on the main datagrid on a specfic row which has record where the record goes to the other datagrid with no record yet to be filled with record, the textbox will count/ add all the values from the UNITS COLUMN and in an instance on one row removed in the other datagrid, the total value of units in the textbox does not subtract or less. here's the code.
Public Function total_units_remove() As Double Dim totalunits As Double = 0 Dim i As Integer = 0
I have a 3 column listview. Column 1 and 2 has few integer. How can I subtract Column 1 and column and show the result in column 3. Below is a sample data for columns.
I successfully connected a remote MySQL database and it is listed in the Data Connections. My database has two tables, inventory and history, both work and I can retrieve the data from each. The problem is when I try to link the inventory table to a datagridview object. As soon as I enter the configuration wizard a red x appears in my data connections. Regardless of this, however, I can still successfully add my history table. The problem is that the inventory table name isn't visible and I get this error:<``>Could not retrieve schema information for table or view ``.The inventory table is what I need and I don't understand why it blanks out.
how can I set the size of my integer array if it is determined at compile time?

I have a dataview, and I am trying to "clone" its structure only in part, by creating a new table via code. I cut out most of the columns, so this is easier to read. My question is - Why does this always seem to add things a a string?
Later in my code, I try to sort based on "View_Order", but it acts like a string. The values sort as 1,2,20,21,22,3,4, NOT 1,2,3,4,20,21,22 like it should.
Using Cint() while moving the values from table to table didn't work for me... and the boolean becomes text as well. Is the problem in this code, or would it be elsewhere?

I am a newbie in VB and I got a piece of code which can display the current running program. I need to use that in VB2005 and I got the below error message. Can anyone help how to fix it?[code]
I'm trying to convert a VB6 project to .NET, but I get problems with some callback functions, and the following message comes up: "AddressOf' expression cannot be converted to 'integer' because integer is not a delegate type" I've seen several solutions to similar problems like this, but I am not able to understand this issue with delegates.
After the conversion, the code look like this:
Declare Function vsmsgwSetDataPackageCB Lib "vsmsgwW.dll" (ByVal PACKAGE As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer Dim arginitP As Integer
[Code]...
Which gives the error: Method 'Public Function PackageCB(HisNodeID As Integer, ByRef data() As Byte, ByVal length As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer' does not have the same signature as delegate 'Delegate Function DelegatePackageCallback(hwnd As Integer, lparam As Integer) As Integer
I am new to EF Linq and I have been struggling with this query for a few days. From reading this forum, I have managed to get this far:
Dim noPic = (From f In myEntities.FriendLists Where (f.UserID = Profile.ID) Select f.FriendID).Except(From g In myEntities.GuestLists Where g.EventID = _id Select g.FriendID)
[Code]...
I am trying to get everybody from the FriendList who is not already on the GuestList to display in a Repeater control. After reading the forum I was able to append .First() to noPic at the myNoPic declaration and finally get a result but that only gave me the first element. Does anybody have any advice on how to accomplish this?
I want to merge or import a column of data from one data table created in VB.NET to another data table's 'same-named' column. The destination data table has all the required columns created before hand but the source data table contains one column at a time, whose name is the same as that of one of the columns in destination data table.Whatever coding I have done for the same till now, results in blank rows at starting. The destination data table looks like this:And I want it to be displayed it as:
The user enters information into a textbox and I would like to reflect these changes on the database. So say there is a value of 50 in the textbox and the user just deletes this and it is now "". When I try to update the database I receive an error as it expects a type of double. However, simple appending a 0 here when a value of "" is encountered will not work for me as I have a universal function to handle all of my updating needs. How would I go about determining the type of field I am dealing with (int, double, varchar) of the data table which I currently have in memory
I am writing validation for a datagridview which may open a number of different tables (dependant on what the user selects). The idea is that the user will select a lookup table to edit or add too, the datagridview opens (via a binding source) and populates itself with a specific table's data.
The user can then edit the data in the rows and when they are happy update the dataset which in turn updates the database table.
This all works except there is no validation per say prior to the update. As the datagrid loads a different table dynamically I cannot predetermine table column names (without writing a mass of hard coded values) so I would rather go by the datatype of the column since the tables all follow a similar format.[code]...
I need to read data from an Excel sheet as part of a data conversion. Certain columns contain mostly numeric data but may contain some alphanumeric data somewhere in the excel sheet. The problem is, my conversion sees the alphanumeric values as null (or blank. Using the .ToString() method returns ""). To connect to Excel, I'm creating an oledb connection, creating an OleDbDataAdapter, then filling a DataSet with the adapter.
Here's the VB code for connecting: private _oleadpt As OleDbDataAdapter private _oleconnection As New OleDbConnection Dim olecomm As OleDbCommand '_database comes from a settings file and is the full path to an excel document Dim connstring As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=" & _database & "; Extended Properties=""Excel 8.0;HDR=YES;""" [Code] .....
I think the data adapter is determining the datatype for the columns based on the first however-many rows it looks at. It decides the columns with numbers are numeric which is the start of my problem. Changing the formatting of the column in Excel doesn't seem to affect the datatypes in my data set. Is there a way to tell the dataadapter or dataset what type of data to use for a column? Or should I try to cast the data in my SQL statement?
I am using VS 2008, asp.net and VB coding.Using Grid View, How can I access the data of the selected row if the column type is check box?The following line is working fine with text, date, number, lbltest.Text = GridViewRVs.SelectedRow.Cells(7).Text but the problem is that I need to access a checkbox..
I have already binded a data source from Access to my visual basic program but need to add a True/False column to two of the tables. I could do this manually in access and re-bind the sources but that would take up too much of my time so I wanted to know if I'm using the proper code to add a column to the data table directly from VB? Here is the code I want to try but I don't know where to place it?
I'm not sure what goes into the "something" parenthesis and where this code must go. I already tried editting through the data designer but although it shows the column in the DataGridView, it does not save any data or the column into the actual access file.
Attempting to run an SQL statement to UPDATE a column in a table with new data. The column being updated is defined as varchar(40) and the new data is 41 bytes (varchar(41)). I get a generic 'data will be truncated' error message, but no detail on which column caused the problem. I've attached a sample VB program to illustrate the issue. In this scenario, Company is defined as varchar(40).
My question: Can I get a more detailed error message? i.e. can I get an error message that tells me the row and column that the truncation occurs in? Often times, I may be updating hundreds or thousands of rows and only one value in one column from the source file is too large for a database cell. As a related question, does each OLEDB provider create its own error messages. i.e. will the MS SQL Server OLEDB provider potentially give different text in the error message than say the MS Jet OLEDB provider?
