I know that even when the timer is disabled, it still keeps on accumulating so I need a way that when the timer is paused, the timer doesn't keep on accumulating and when the timer is resumed, the timer continues from where it was when it was paused.

View 2 RepliesI have searched a lot on Google about Pausing and Resuming Downloads and I find the examples with background workers but I don't understand them and that is why I can't change the code according to my app.Is there an easy way of doing this or do I have to do it the hard way?
View 5 RepliesMy program continually loops creating text/voice commands, and displaying/speaking it to the players. So, in the event that someone needs a break, I have provided a Pause button and a Resume button. The problem is, I don't know the code to pause or resume a program.
Private Sub PauseButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles PauseButton.Click
End Sub
Private Sub ResumeButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ResumeButton.Click
End Sub
I have a thread running on my application that checks a database every so often to decide whether or not to update nodes in a treeview.
Each treeview node represents a document and I have an open button that opens the document for the user.
When the document is opened, I wanted to suspend the thread that refreshes the node list until the document is closed.
I have MyThread.Suspend and MyThread.Resume. But the document viewer is on another thread.
I created functions for suspending/resuming the thread in the application. I have delegates in the viewer to call those functions from another thread. But I'm still getting an Error. "Thread is not user-suspended. Cannot be resumed" or something of the like.
But I realize that Suspend and resume are obsolete functions, so what class or objects should I be looking into and if it didn't take up too much of your time, a small example as well?
I have this proyect where Im trying to do a program that concentrates all the Weather related links, information, and images in a single place, to make easier the job for a friend teacher whos a meteorologist.
the program per se does a lot of "parsing" of htmls, eliminating the information not needed and also download automatically certain images ( Satellite specially.. ) most of these images are... sort of hidding inside the html ( thus the parsing.)[code]...
I'm a newbie and trying to make a VB downloader using Public Shared client As WebClient = New WebClient client.DownloadFileAsync(New Uri(FielUrla), saveDialog2.FileName) I'm not sure is this the right approach, but I've found info about this method. Now I want to make "Pause download" and "Resume download" buttons but can't find information how to do that.

View 4 RepliesI'm trying to filter submitted web sites by attempting to browse them while bouncing the request off of OpenDNS. If the page received is the OpenDNS page, I'll assume the page shoudld be blocked.
How might I accomplish this task using the System.Net.WebClient class?
Dim wc As New System.Net.WebClientGamerTag.Replace(" ", "+")wc.Credentials = New System.Net.NetworkCredential(Email, Password, "http://live.xbox.com/en-US/profile/profile.aspx?GamerTag=" & GamerTag)Dim fx As New System.IO.StreamReader(wc.OpenRead("http://live.xbox.com/en-US/profile/profile.aspx?GamerTag=Dark Slipstream" & GamerTag))Dim str As String = fx.ReadToEndfx.Close()
The above code will open a webclient, set the credentials (possible error?), create a stream of the entire page, and then load it into a string (str).I then scan through and look for what is needed (Gamerscore, Motto, Bio, etc)-in this case. This doesn't work however, it doesn't sign in.
Is it possible to send HTTP POST with some form data with System.Net.WebClient?If not, is there another library like WebClient that can do HTTP POST? I know I can use System.Net.HttpWebRequest, but I'm looking for something that is not as verbose.
Hopefully it will look like this:
Using client As New TheHTTPLib
client.FormData("parm1") = "somevalue"

I've been using an invisible WebBrowser control to submit a form on my server, but I'd like to use System.Net.WebClient() to accomplish this so I don't have the control hanging around on my form.I need to get the page, fill out the username and password fields, and click the submit button. This was done easily enough with the WebBrowser control, but I can't find any examples using System.Net.WebClient().

View 1 RepliesI have been prototyping a simple site search tool.I found some online references to using webclient.download data. I have a (mostly) working prototype, but it only returns static HTML on the page that is being searched.I also would like to be able to search the contents of controls (such as text in label controls that are set at run time.) In the code below, the data in label1 is not returned.[code].....
View 3 RepliesI need to parse a Unix text file so, I am using System.Net.WebClient to ftp into a Unix server then using the .DownloadFile() method to get the text file, but its coming in with the Unix end line ""; so is there a way to convert that to windows format while doing the DownloadFile method? I do re-read it after and fix it, I am just looking for a better way.
Or is there an alternate such as instead of a DownloadFile, and the two other steps above can I just read it into an array right off the Unix server?? If so then what method would I use?

How do I make a pause between code lines? See code below. This just prints the word "Hello", I was hoping to put a delay between the letters to make it look more real. Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click, Button2.Click
SendKeys.Send("%{tab}") SendKeys.Send("H") SendKeys.Send("e") SendKeys.Send("l") SendKeys.Send("l") SendKeys.Send("o")
End Sub
I am facing an issue. Actually what i am doing is that i am tryin to store certain values in a database. A function is such that it calculates 5 values and stores them in a database. While storing them in the database it displays them in a textbox on the form. Now i want to display them one by one which it does. But it does it so fast that i can only see the last value that it enters in the database inside the textboxes.[code]...

2) I have some solutions under 2010. In 2 or 3, while debugging, I can change instructions without restarting the application. In others, I cannot change anything (Is like readonly), Looking in 'My Applications', Tab 'Debug', Option 'Configuration' I can choose several Options. In the applications I can debug, the default is 'Active (Debug)'; in the others is 'Active (Release)'. If I change the options, the word 'Active' remains attached to the original option.
