Make An Integer Appear In A Listbox?
Sep 30, 2009What code can I use to make an integer appear in a listbox? If any of the above are posted, you shall burn in purgatory. Don't worry, as forums are not considered cheating.

View 3 RepliesIf I set a ListBox.Height = ListBox.PreferredHeight when the control is hidden and IntegralHeight = True, then set it visible:
a) Actual Height reduces by typically 3-5 pixels after redraw (but not 1 pixel per item).
b) PreferredHeight does not not appear to give the correct integral of item heights.
Is there a way to make ListBox calculate the correct integral Height before the ListBox is made visible, so it can be correctly pre-positioned from bottom edge?
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
ListBox1.Visible = False
ListBox1.IntegralHeight = True

I am working with a future value application and I am trying to display the calculated future values in a listbox. For instance, I input the monthly investment, the yearly interest rate and the number of years into textboxes and I want the application to list out the future value for each year until the number of years in which I entered is reached. I cannot figure out how to get the code to display the value after each year. I am trying to use the "mod" operator to display the value each time the 12th month comes around.[code]...
View 7 Repliesi am having trouble displaying the values i get from an IList(Of T) and displaying that in a listbox found on another form. I have used a for loop to get the values from the IList, then i can display that in a msgbox. for eg:
Dim j As Integer
Dim path As String = ""
For j = 0 To best_tour.Count - 1
[code]....
best_tour is ot type IList() path keeps the name found in the list everything works fine inside the loop..but it does not populate the lst_output listbox.I have tried using files, but in vain. It just get the values from the list but does not display that on the listbox.If that can help, then listbox is found in a panel on the form2, but taking it out of the panel does not affect anything.
Is that possible to save values from a listbox to mysql database? I guess yes. I have a list of values in a listbox obtained from splitting a file. The strings are like numbers but they are of type string. What I need is to get those values in the database in the integer type. How can I proceed?
View 8 RepliesI know im suppose to show code, how to make an integer, I kinda feel bad wasting a thread for a simple answer, but I cant figure it out, what im trying to do it make an integer values in the range of 10 to 1000.

View 1 Replieshow I can control the tool tip popup or make calls to the text that displays based on a integer value. I'm wanting it to display a text based on a interger value inside an if statment for a picture box. So if the ingteger = 1 then tooltip.text = "" else tooltip.text = "" but that is not the correct syntax.

the big part is where i get: operator '+' is not defined for types 'integer' and '1-dimensional array of integer'.why do i get that message and what does it mean? how do i make the code do what i want?
I faced an error when upgrading VB6 code to VB.NET. The error occurs at AddressOf WindowProc
AddressOf expression cannot be converted to 'Integer' because 'Integer' is not a delegate type
My declaration for SetWindowLong is:
Declare Function SetWindowLong Lib "user32" Alias "SetWindowLongA"(
ByVal hWnd As Integer,
ByVal nIndex As Integer,[code]....
What is the reason for the error I get?
I'm trying to create a linked list of an array of integers. Why is the following implicit conversion required?
When I run the code that contains that conversion, I get the following error.
As a real-time data acquisition user control data (a packet of an array of bytes) arrives every second, is converted into an integer array and inserted into a linked list.
The most recently arrived data is painted as coordinates on a grid at the right of a PictureBox using Graphics.DrawLine (pen,X1,Y1,X2,Y2).
The oldest data (arriving 120 seconds ago) will be drawn at the leftmost portion of the Picturebox.
Why a linked list rather than a list? To display 120 views of time sequence data, the draw routine the most recently inserted node to a node that points to Nothing. How do I limit the length of the linked list to 120 nodes and always ensure that the last node points to Nothing?
Do While Not item Is Nothing
item = item.NextItem

I am a newbie in VB and I got a piece of code which can display the current running program. I need to use that in VB2005 and I got the below error message. Can anyone help how to fix it?[code]
View 18 RepliesI'm trying to convert a VB6 project to .NET, but I get problems with some callback functions, and the following message comes up: "AddressOf' expression cannot be converted to 'integer' because integer is not a delegate type" I've seen several solutions to similar problems like this, but I am not able to understand this issue with delegates.
After the conversion, the code look like this:
Declare Function vsmsgwSetDataPackageCB Lib "vsmsgwW.dll" (ByVal PACKAGE As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer
Dim arginitP As Integer
[Code]...
Which gives the error: Method 'Public Function PackageCB(HisNodeID As Integer, ByRef data() As Byte, ByVal length As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer' does not have the same signature as delegate 'Delegate Function DelegatePackageCallback(hwnd As Integer, lparam As Integer) As Integer
I have a LINQ2Entity problem, I want to get the value, string, from a database, so I select FProducts.Serial_number, and to end the query, I do .ToDictionary. The problem is, it tells me that it doesn't have sufficient parameters, to convert ToDictionary. So I need something like select FProducts.Serial_number, Nothing). ToDictionary. Also FProducts.Serial_number, 0).ToDictionary doesn't work.
Sub GetStatistics(ByVal ProductNumbers As List(Of String), ByRef Passed As Integer, ByRef FailedProducts As List(Of String))

this is for a BINGO game final project that I already turned in but this just bugged me that I could not get the sorting figured out. I am trying to get this to sort the random numbers in to columns under the correct letters but I keep getting the error Operator '>=' is not defined for types '1-dimensional array of Integer' and 'Integer' under the line:

I am new to EF Linq and I have been struggling with this query for a few days. From reading this forum, I have managed to get this far:
Dim noPic = (From f In myEntities.FriendLists
Where (f.UserID = Profile.ID)
Select f.FriendID).Except(From g In myEntities.GuestLists
Where g.EventID = _id
Select g.FriendID)
[Code]...
I am trying to get everybody from the FriendList who is not already on the GuestList to display in a Repeater control. After reading the forum I was able to append .First() to noPic at the myNoPic declaration and finally get a result but that only gave me the first element. Does anybody have any advice on how to accomplish this?

I'm just writing a bit of code to compare an id of integer with an id of integer? for example:
Dim id As Integer = 1
Dim nullId As Integer? = Nothing
Dim areEqual As Boolean
areEqual = nullId = id
When I try to compile the code I get a compiler error: Option Strict On disallows implicit conversions from 'Boolean?' to 'Boolean'. Whilst it's very simple for me to work around this, I was hoping that someone might be able to explain what's going in the compiler to give this warning.
I'm trying to set an Integer value from my.settings.The values comes frpm a listbox, and then inserted to settings (set to specialized.StringCollection)The problem is when i'm trying to get the values and apply them to my function.Error code: Conversion from string "65 & 71" to type 'Integer' is not valid.To me it looks right, but maybe i'm missing something.

I would like to display over 20 items in a listbox under about 10 headings. As you can imagine, with the varying lengths of each cell, this looks pretty messy. For example, if a name is long, it takes both the space under the name heading and the number heading.
How can I avoid that while still use listboxes, and NOT DataGridview! I'm having an awful amount of trouble with Grids!! I would like something simple yet neat.. Can't I have columns or dividers in listboxes?
I want to make a listbox with to columns on it and they both have titles. If you look at the Mozilla Firefox bookmarks window i want it to be like that.
