Making An Email Reader Program - TCP Client + SSL?
Jul 12, 2006
I am making an Email reader program, and I need to use POP3 servers. I learned the protocol so I'll could use winsock for the connections.The problem is, that a lot of servers require SSL connection, and I don't know how to open one...I know there is a way with the TCP socket, but I don't know how......
I am trying to make an in-program email reader. So, I press a button, and it shows the next email. Originally, my problem was that it would automatically cycle through the email. I began trying to fix this... What i ended up with was something that makes it so now not even any email shows. The things i added when trying to fix this were:[code...]
I'm using the Chilkat add-on to read email from a pop3 server. I can download the headers fine but the headers all download into one column.How can I get my email to put the headers in the appropriate columns?
'Display the From email address and the subject. ListView2.Items.Add(email.From) ListView2.Refresh() ListView2.Items.Add(email.EmailDate) ListView2.Refresh()
[Code]...
What I am trying to do is to download the "From" person into the "From" columns and the "Date" of the email into the date column, so on and so forth but I'm not able to get them to go into their separate columns.
i am making a program send multiple fields to an email, however i am just testing it in a small file to get it to work, however i can't get it to send the email with say 4 text boxes ill post some of the code below and wil lbe greatful for any help.
I have an application that takes a series of reports and sends them as attachments in an email to a specified group of email accounts.
When I run the Java version of this using apache commons and the same setting, the email is sent. However, when I run the VB.NET version of the code, it fails on my local machine and on the client machine.
I have a VB.NET web application running on a server that uses similar code. I tried that code locally and it fails. Yet, the web application is working perfectly.
Why is it that the Java application can send the email, but the .NET application cannot?[code]....
I want to send an email using the default email client. If this is not possible, then Outlook will be the client of choice.* I want to be able to send attachments.* I would like to use Read Receipt on outgoing emails if possible.
What I want is to be able to launch an email from VB in the same way that MAILTO: does from a browser. ie. it launches an email from whatever the deault client is.One of the posts on here (linked from the FAQ) mentioned to use MAPI, but the problem is that I can't figure out which 'imports' I need to use.
Googling around I can find lots of excamples of MAPI code, but none mention the imports. If I just paste the code into my VB form it just says that the names are not declared.Another post indicated that these weren't functions from an import, but rather I had to add a MAPI componant of some kind from the toolbox onto a form - but I can't find any MAPI things in the toolbox either...
I have been reading through Atheists posts in regards to client-server and TCP client/server connection's. But how do i go about writing a program with 1 client and server where the client side creates a text file.Once the server sees there is a text file it connects and downloads it to itself or the client pushes the text file to the server.Once on the server i will read the text file and put its info into a sql db.
i am trying to make a messenger client which will work like alerter or similar, so far i have decided to to make two applications,
1) which will send messenger,(sender)
2) which will accept msg and display a alert to user using msgbox.(receiver)
i have started coding receiver, i am using port 6000 to listen to messenger.so far i have made code to listen to port(open/bind/listen)but now i am not able to figure out how to display messages to user received on that port.
Dim RecieveSocket As Socket Dim PortListen As Int16 = 6000 Dim address As IPAddress = IPAddress.Parse("0.0.0.0") Dim endpoint As New IPEndPoint(address, PortListen)
I am going to attempt to create an email type client similar to gmail or outlook express except I'm not looking to have all the bells and whistles. What I'm looking to create is something that can download emails from a server using my username/password.
I'm trying to get my program to send very simple text email messages. I did do a search beforehand, and found that I was having the same issue as someone else, but the specific question I have was not answered --
I've learned that if you're trying to send mail, you need an SMTP server... I found this list here but every one of them I've tried yields the same "Failure sending mail" error.
Here's my
Dim mail As New MailMessage()
mail.From = New MailAddress("me@mycompany.com") mail.To.Add("destination-email@whatever.com")
[CODE]...
Is the problem that I need to show "credentials" (i.e. user/pass)? If so, what would those credentials be? Can I use my yahoo email SMTP server with my login info to do it? And is this all I'd need to add to add the credentials?
smtp.Credentials = New NetworkCredential("MyUsername", "MyPassword") (before the smtp.Send, of course)
I have to make a basic program that: Create a program with a simple interface that
1. Asks the user type his/her email address into a textbox.
2. When the user clicks the "Evaluate Email Address" button, one of two message boxes pops up: "That is a valid email address!" with an "Information" icon, or "That is an invalid email address!" and on a second line, "Please retype your email address.", with an "Exclamation" icon
3. To be considered valid, the email address must -include an "@" symbol, and -it must end in either ".com", ".net", or ".org" or ".edu" (I don't know how to check a string and test if its last four characters end with any of these and make it say not valid email address. I think I might have to use a case statement)
I'm making a builder for a simple ftp client, but i have a problem.I have readed a tut about a builder with a stub, thats done but i only can fill in 1 form, but how can i make that my builder fills 2 forms in the client?
My code in the stub is:
Dim options(), text1 As String Const FileSplit = "@vorfin@" Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load FileOpen(1, Application.ExecutablePath, OpenMode.Binary, OpenAccess.Read, OpenShare.Shared)
I'm making a program that would require me to send data between to different machines.The way i plan to do this is to have a server program constantly running on my computer.(any other way to do this?) When someone opens the Client program, the program connects to the server. The server then takes the users I.P address and Username and adds it to a listbox on the Server application. Then the server application constantly updates the list of users on the Client application. So that way every user can see everyone that is connected.Then, when the user wants to connect to another user - They select the Username from their listbox of users. Then all connections will be handled between the users = Each user is connected to the other user's Client program. Well there is the first thing i don't know how to do.The next is simply how i send the data between the users. Would i use a winsock control?Example: One user does an action. The winsock control sends the text "blue" to the other user. The other user's program's form color changes to the color blue. That's not what this program will do, but it's just an example.
I am making a program that can send emails by the click of a button. But the problem is that it takes a long time to send the email.When the send button is pressed it declares the smtp server, credentials and everything. But I am wondering if there is a way to have the smtp server, credentials, port and everything already declared and then as soon as the send button is clicked it sends right away?
EDIT: I am going to try declaring that information at form1_load.
EDIT: It didn't work, even when I tried changing private form1_load to public form1_load .
I have a code here to send email, but its shows a error. Error : The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.5.1 Authentication Required.
Code: Dim smtpServer As New SmtpClient() ProgressBar1.Value = 10 Dim mail As New MailMessage() ProgressBar1.Value = 17 smtpServer.Credentials = New Net.NetworkCredential("myemailacc@gmail.com", "Password") [Code] .....
I would like to write a plug-in to Outlook that would read new messages recieved in the Outlook Clients In Box and then write the SUBJECT:, FROM:, TO: and Message Body: into a text file saved to a directory as well as create a copy of any attachments to a directory location.
i am making a email verifier i need is to Log in to The hotmail email go to the indbox one a a particular email then i need to navigate to the verification link
email name : <span email="account-verification-noreply@google.com" mouseMoveHandler="null" hoverOn="null" hoverOff="null"> which i need to open here is the html code( i need to open up this link )
I'm trying to make a email client but my biggest problem is finding a component that is (preferably) free. I need one that works with IMAP and POP3. Also would be nice if it could handle sending emails (Via SMTP). It would also be great if it worked with gmail.
