I'm trying to make a email client but my biggest problem is finding a component that is (preferably) free. I need one that works with IMAP and POP3. Also would be nice if it could handle sending emails (Via SMTP). It would also be great if it worked with gmail.

View 1 RepliesI created some apps with the system.io and .net namespace. Sending an email and save files and such. Now I want to use pop3 to receive and read the messages on that account. I used TELNET to connect to my pop3 account and that is going well.

How can I verify if the connection is ok and I'm logged in with this name and password? In Telnet I receive +ok after a command and input is correct, otherwise it generate -err.
I am looking for a vb.net code for receiving e-mails without using any 3rd party libraries. I want to check Unread messages, Inbox and Sent messages. A Working sample is needed.

We have a vendor that sends CSV files as email attachments. These CSV files contain statuses that are imported into our application. I'm trying to automate the process end-to-end, but it currently depends on someone opening an email, saving the attachment to a server share, so the application can use the file.Since I cannot convince the vendor to change their process, such as offering an FTP location or a Web Service, I'm stuck with trying to automate the existing process.

The application can reside on the same server as the POP3 server, for example, we could setup the free POP3 server that comes with Windows Server and pull against the mail file stored on the file system.
how to setup POP3 access that DOES NOT cost money! I have a program that needs to receive email.I have looked ALL over the internet for examples and have come up with NOTHING! Maybe it's about time we all pull together and finally put a solution out here for how to do it. I know it's not THAT complicated because I am a novice as is my roommate and we had an email program about 4 years ago and it wasn't that complicated then, so I don't imagine it is, however, I did not save that email program that we built so I can not refer to the coding again!

When I run the Java version of this using apache commons and the same setting, the email is sent. However, when I run the VB.NET version of the code, it fails on my local machine and on the client machine.
I have a VB.NET web application running on a server that uses similar code. I tried that code locally and it fails. Yet, the web application is working perfectly.
Why is it that the Java application can send the email, but the .NET application cannot?[code]....

Googling around I can find lots of excamples of MAPI code, but none mention the imports. The documents are stored in a folder, and in an accessdatabase stands the information about the documents.The program also includes a simple search option. The program itself is located in a folder on a network computer.It has to be a network program for collegues can add other examples.Now it gets weird. at least in my opinion.When I run the program locally -> no problem.When I run the program from another network PC -> no problem.But when I run the program from a network Thin Client -> shaboom..At least when I enter a search option and the connection to the database is opened:"Application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security pollcy. View 6 RepliesI have developed an ASP.Net 2.0 application and I am facing problem in sending email from my Web Server. Following is the VB code I have used to send email from my web application. Thing is when I try to send email from my local system (laptop) the email goes out fine and reaches the recipient address instantly but when I try to send email from my web server it fails.My hosting provider gave me a relay-host address for sending out email. The email goes out fine but the relay host has an annoying amount of delay in email delivery which is a problem during the sign up process.
