I have a parent and child report that I created in visual studio 2010 using winforms in vb.net. I have setup one text box in the parent report to go to the child report with the respective value as the paramter. However, when I click on the link I get the error:a data source instance has not been supplied for the data source 'dataset1'I realize that the dataset1 has to be filled, however I cannot figure out how to fill dataset1. i would be glad if someone would give me sugerencies of what could be a good way to represent a Checkbox List on my report. Actually im using RDLC+Microsoft ReportViewer. the solution im evaluating at this moment its to just thread them as images just capturing the checkbox list Hdc and then exportingto the report but the bad thing its that users wont be able to select stuff there and also the .PDFs im planing to create gonna be kinda heavy.
i would emulate the checkbox list with labels, but its that this project has soooo many checkboxes that its not really a good idea to make it in that way.

I am a visual basic developer and I use Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate Edition. I've been making applications that can play only in my PC because it requires .NET Framework 4, which is not installed at even Windows 7 nor Windows Vista nor Xp. So, I decided to use Visual Studio 2008 which uses .NET Framework 3.5 SPI. It still doesn't run in common PCs. I believe it is pointless building applications that can perform only on programers' PCs. Is there any way to avoid using 4 or including it for the installation. I also downloaded .Net Framework 4.0 from this location [URL].. on a XP computer and my app couldn't perform because it was 3.5 SPI.

I am using the publish wizard in VB 2010 Professional for deployment as I tried the InstallShield and the Standard Build and cannot get support. My last resort is this wizard. Please help me I am getting the following 2 warnings. I downloaded MDAC 2.8 SP1 for warning 2 and after I run the program it doesn't upgrade and appear in VB2010. How can I install it in VB2010 Pro. I have created an application in VB.net 2010, I have an SQL database that I want to gram some data from: Then Create a word document with that data and save it to a given location, this is what I got so far.

Im creating an unmanaged DLL in Visual Studio 2010.In order to test my DLL I have created another project with Visual Basic and i've attached it to the solution.VB code calls to my InstallHook function in the DLL, passing a delegate of the callback function at VB. Then the DLL creates a hook and everytime a key is pressed the VB callback is called receiving the key and some other params as argument.
Well, the problem is that after some keys has been pressed, and the buffer in the VB callback reaches a specific size, the program crash. To be more specific, when the callback is called by the last time and it writes into its buffer in VB, it's like it overlaps in somewhere because the next time the callback is going to be called in the DLL, the program crash without reach the callback (the pointer in the dll is fine)I dont understand well the architecture of .Net and i dont know exactly what could be wrong, but im very confident in the code i've done and the problem should be something technical with the memory management in .Net.
Edit: I forgot to say that if I call the callback from within the VB code, then it works fine. The callback is normally called from a WndProc installed in the same window.

I have a Visual Basic project and when working and modifying code, the compiler will crash and then a message will say something like "Microsoft visual studio encountered a problem and was shut down." I've tried editing code from the solution and the project. Both produce the error. Usually occurs when adding an "IF...Then..." condition. May work for hours but then crash. Solution will compile and build.

I'm trying to create heirarchy of classes in vb.net. I was able to achieve it in csharp by using the following tags in .csproj

I'm new to vb.net. Can anybody tell me the alternative of <DependUpon> attribute used in .csproj equivalent in .vbproj. For some reason, this attribute seems to be ignored in the .vbproj even though it is displayed in the visualstudio2010 intellisence.

I am converting an older software package written in VB 6 to VS 2010.Not to incredibly painful but planning for the future as we have had lets say a few issues with VB 6 on our current layout of multiple OS and this is my first real project lead.We are a smaller job shop and we move on a rotation of new PC's/OS's come in to replace broken or exhausted older PC's in the front office and move the older PC's out to the shop floor.We have an array of different OS's ranging from Windows 98 and Windows 7 (32 bit and 64 bit OS). By the time I am done with the conversion we should be sitting comfortable with a range of PC's from XP and up. When creating the executable for my project is this something that can be handled ahead of time, creating multiple executables for specified OS, or an all in one package executable?I was looking to see what people had as suggestions at handling this.We haven't even bought VS yet and are looking at the VS 2010 Premium package, do I need Ultimate?

I have an rdlc report that always produces the last page in blank. In this page, the header and the footer are printed but no data is shown (all data finishes in the previous page). I already checked and re-checked the horizontal and vertical printable areas and all the report definitions fit into these areas (if not, a blank page will be produced in between each page, I guess). If the report has one page, two pages are printed, if there are ten pages with data, eleven pages are printed

i am trying to link my ms access database through a microsoft visual basics 2008. i have set up the connection using the Server Explorer by selecting the 'Connect to Database' button and navigating to your .mdb file.i can view the file from the vb software now but i cannot add to the database. when i i click add on the vb it allows me to type in the boxes. when i click save it also add to the amount of rows i have in the database but it doesnt update the database. when i preview the database it is not updated.
