I intended to do another SQL query inside here and retrieve data from another table by using the "category_id".I know the problems that asp.net required me to close the data reader before proceed to another query. But is there any solution for me to do another query and open another data reader within the opening data reader? [code]
code For Each item As Reflection.FieldInfo In GetType(NameSpace.ClassWithNestedClasses).GetFields rtfAppend(item.Name & ":" & Tab & item.GetValue(Me)) Next For Each item As Reflection.PropertyInfo In GetType(NameSpace.ClassWithNestedClasses).GetProperties()
[code]...
which gets me the simple string vars and properties of my top class, but how can i apply this to loop through all sub classes and get there vars and props?
Dim cv As Integer Dim cc As Integer Dim CurrentValue As Double Dim ObsoleteValue As Double
[code]....
Basically this code works for the first column of the DataGridView. It sort of stops iterating after the last calculation of the row is performed and doesn't change the cc value at all. Meaning the loop gets stuck after the first iteration.
I'm comparing a temporary table to an another table, to check for changes in the cells. The way I'm doing it, is that I'm using three loops; one to loop trough the temporary, one to loop trough the other table and a last one to loop trough each column. Here's the
vb.net For Each row As DataRowView In View For Each drow As DataRowView In view2
[Code]....
"emitid" is the column I use as a reference to be sure that I'm comparing the correct rows, and the column order will always be the same in both tables.
I'm writting a graph algorithm and I'm almost there...My algorithm stores several edge objects in a collection of edges, representing a path from initial vertex to final vertex.hus, there should be also several paths between those vertexes (several collections of edge type), stored in another collection (in my class, callded "collswap").Each edge is an object which have two vertexes: initial (v) and final (w), in this way:
dim manhattan as new vertex dim brooklyn as new vertex dim statenIsland as new vertex
I have a question about using nested IF statements in a SQL query. I have a select statement that calculates a semester grade -- Dim sqlStr As String = "SELECT 'XXX-XX-' + right(socSecNumber,4) As [Student SSN], Round((firstExam + secondExam +(2*finalExam))/4, 0) AS [Semester Average] FROM Grades that I am displaying the results in a datagridview. I can successfully display the masked social security number and the Semester Average but I also need to convert the Semester Average to a letter grade to display in a newly created column for Grade. Can this somehow be done with nested If or Case statements within the SQL statement or is there a way to pass the Semester Average information as a variable to a nested vb If statement? Basically, I am needing to know how to display the letter grade to the datagridview using this criteria:
OK, after trying to get this working for a couple of days now I decided that I would turn to the experts here. I am trying to create a nested loop with a variable amount of nests. Let me elaborate. I have a program that first asks for the minimum and maximum amount of loops, I currently have a SELECT CASE statement that addresses each level of nesting individually.
Dim cMin As Integer = InputBox("Min") Dim cMax As Integer = InputBox("Max") Dim c1, c2, c3 As Integer
I'm gathering a list of files within a directory and then adding them to a ListView:
VB.NET
For Each f In Directory.GetFiles() Dim lvi As New ListViewItem lvi.Text = f.Name
[code]....
The exclusion list works great, but it duplicates each item in the ListView several times. How many depends on how many items that it excludes.
I understand why it's happening, but I can't figure out a way around it. I have to loop through the items in the ArrayList so that I can compare them to the other items.
I have the following SQL query to return all Customers who have no OrderLines with no Parts assigned - i.e. I only want the customers within which every order line of every order has no parts assigned - (in the actual problem I am dealing with a different domain but have translated to customers/orders to illustrate the problem)
SELECT c.Customer_PK FROM Customers c INNER JOIN Orders o[code].....
This works but generates less than optimal SQL - it is doing a subquery for Count on each row of the customers query rather than using Group By and Having. I tried making the LINQ Group By syntax work but it kept putting the filter as a WHERE not a HAVING clause.Edit in response to Answers below: I am accepting JamieSee's answer as it addresses the stated problem, even though it does not produce the GROUP BY HAVING query I originally had.I am a VB developer so I have had a crack translating your code to VB, this is the closest I got to but it does not quite produce the desired output:
Dim qry = From c In context.Customers Group Join o In context.Orders On c.Customer_PK Equals o.Customer_FK Into joinedOrders = Group[cod].....
The problem I had is that I have to push "jl" into the Group By "Key" so I can reference it from the Where clause, otherwise the compiler cannot see that variable or any of the other variables appearing before the Group By clause.With the filter as specified I get all customers where at least one order has lines with no parts rather than only customers with no parts in any order.
I have these objects:[code]Using LINQ I need to take a List(Of MakeInfo) and a List(Of ModelInfo) and aggregate the StockInfo from ModelInfo into the List(Of MakeInfo).So for each MakeInfo I will have a total count of all stock where MakeInfo.Name = ModelInfo.Make, and also a minimum price.I think it's going to be something like this, but I'm having trouble accessing the nested object and not sure if it's going to be possible with a single query.[code]
So I have some vb.net code, and I have a nested For loop inside a For loop, and then I have EXIT FOR statement, will it break out of one loop, or the whole chain?
Here's my query dim areas = From job In db.jobs Join area In db.areas
On area.JobID Equals job.JobID Where job.JobID = id Select area.Area, area.UnitID
I have two controls in my form
2 textboxes: tbArea1 and tbArea2 2 comboboxes: cbArea1Units and cbArea2Units
I've traditionally used a ForEach loop to cycle through LINQ to SQL results, but this instance doesn't seem to work. By design in the database, the result will always only return up to two possible areas, but no more then that. How can I populate the textboxes and set the SelectedValue of the comboboxes to something like this?
I am not getting any errors. But the update query is not executed as it does not change the database.
Dim cmd3 As New SqlCommand cmd3.Connection = con cmd3.CommandType = CommandType.Text cmd3.CommandText = "SELECT * from table 1 join table 2 WHERE (EXP_RETURN_DATE < GETDATE())" cmd3.ExecuteNonQuery() [Code] .....
I am having trouble using FOR loop with array in query.What I am trying to do is for all the data pulled out of database I convert it to an array list and then string (this works fine). After that I am trying to make a FOR loop query for each of the data pulled out and this is where i am having trouble.
I have a form with a tab control, containing a small number of tab pages. I'm writing a sub procedure to clear the controls within a groupbox for the selected tab. A selected tab will only ever contain ONE groupbox and within a groupbox will be command buttons, labels, text boxes and possibly a combobox. The first block of code below firstly finds the groupbox within the selected tab. The next part loops around all control type and if of type texbox clears the text.
Now hears the head scratcher/confusion it error's with :- Unable to cast object of type 'System.Windows.Forms.Button' to type 'System.Windows.Forms.GroupBox Which I don't understand as I cant see where Im converting objects simply looping through all controls and then ONLY if type of control is textbox then clear text.
'Loop around all controls in form, simplified that all controls 'are within a SINGLE groupbox and clear contents or reset to default value Dim groupbox = (From grpbx In tabAdmin.SelectedTab.Controls _ Select grpbx = DirectCast(grpbx, GroupBox) _ Where TypeOf grpbx Is GroupBox) [Code] .....
I have a method in a webservice that has parameter with which users can decide how they want to order their results. This is a List(Of String) with the names of the fields in the order they want to sort them. I know I can normally order on multiple columns by doing the following
Dim test = Bars.OrderBy(Function(x) x.Foo) _ .ThenBy(Function(x) x.Bar) _ .ThenBy(Function(x) x.Test)
However in this case this won't work since I can't chain the ThenBy function because I'm adding the sorting orders in a loop. To use ThenBy I need an IOrderedQueryable collection. This is how I would want it to work
Dim sortColumns = {"Foo", "Bar", "Test"} Dim query = From b in Bars For each column in sortColumns Select Case column Case "Foo" query = query.Orderby(Function(x) x.Foo) [Code] .....
I'm trying to find a way where i can make it loop through the results of my capture group regex query.
For instance if i have this:
VB.NET Dim matches = Regex.Matches("<h1><span>test</span></h1>", "(?<=<h1>(<span>)?)(?<data>.+)(?=(</span>)?</h1>)")For Each item In matches.OfType(Of Match)()Console.WriteLine(item.Value)Next
And i'm trying to get the contents of <data>, how do i do it without it printing out the junk before it and after it?
quantifier isn't working, its supposed to make the <span> tag optional in the query, but it isn't.
Makes the following statement about the code below:
**"The computer evaluates the loop condition in the Do...Loop statment to determine whether the loop instructions should be processed. In this case, the inputsales <> String.Empty condition compares the contenst of the input sales variable to the String.Empty value. As you know the String.Empty value represents a zero length, or empty, string if the inputsales variable is empty, the loop condition evaluates to True and the computer process the loop instructions. *If on the other hand the inputsales variable is not empty, the loop condition evaluates to false and the computer skips over the loop instructions.
Based on the code I think it is the opposite: ...that while the inputsales value is not empty it should evaluate to true and process the loop and if it is empty it should evaluate to false and skip the loop?
When Creating a query using the sear Criteria Builder . I keep getting the error : "The schema returned by the new query differs from the base query" what does that mean and how do i avoid this problem in future
I have an outer listview and inside its itemtemplate an inner listview. Each has its own SQLDataSource. A Id field from the outerlistview works as a select parameter for the second listview.
When stepping through with the debugger it works perfectly, unfortunately the rendered page only contains data from the outer listview. It appears the databinding of the outer listview fires and renders the page (including the inner listview) before the codebehind can provide a where parameter to the second listview. The aspx page is below.
I am using nested datalists to display hierarchical data. In the nested datalist i want to be able to bind to a property that belongs to the object that the parent datalist is bound to.
I have an XML file which is a multitable nested xml file (.Tables.Count returned 12 tables). I would like to have all of the xml contents in one table or, if not, select different columns from these different tables (that are stored in XML) and put them in one table. As I understood Datagridview only allows only one table at a time. Is there any way to create a new datatable by joining exsting tables from XML?
I have been trying to read the cd toc in one go from the API, I can read it OK with a single byte array, but I can't find a way to fill the formatted arrays
