How To Pass Values From List Inside Of Class
May 5, 2011I am having a hard time trying to pass the values from a list inside of a class. I am trying to display multiple lines of values from a list inside of a class. My "client" class stores multiple lines of values into a list(of class transaction), with the number value (num) counting each transaction that it adds to the list.
Ex:
Public Class Client
Private m_tranlist As New List(Of transaction)
If CInt(tid) = m_ID Then 'create client tran, add to list
nextTran = New transaction(m_ID, tcode, tdate, ttype, tshares, tprice, value, num)
m_tranlist.Add(nextTran)

Now I am trying to display each line that is stored in the list in a label, and I am having major trouble. How do I call the list in my main form in order to display all of the values?

by doing it this way means i have to have a shared "currentKey" object in the class, and i know there has to be a way to pass in the values i'm interested in of CurrentKey (namely, keyname, and oldkey) ideally i'd like to call it by something like keys.Find(AddressOf FindByOldKeyAndName(Name,OldVal))however when i do this i get compiler errors.How do i call this method and pass in the values?

Jun 21, 2011I recently downloaded VB 2010 Express so i am quite new to the language, but i have worked with dark basic, which seems to b very similar.Anyway, my problem is that i cannot seem to correctly set out my array of a custom type/class. i am trying to create two arrays, one of available entities and another of selected entities of which the user selects the entities to be dealt with in irrelevant ways. i have creates a button (called test) which adds some entities to the available list and all the entities come back the same value but they shouldnt be as you'll c in the code. i have run the step into command a found that "available.item(#).Name = " will change all of the entity's names.As of current i am working with lists as the array kept asking for a 'new' statement but i couldnt figure out where to put it.[code]

Mar 3, 2010I work with C# 99% of the time. However, I'm having to update some legacy VB.Net code and encountering an issue with VB.Net code syntax. The error that I get is "ByRef" is underlined and "Expected Expression" tag shows up when you hover over "ByRef". The "FooDetail.Load" function is written in C# and expects a List object passed as reference. Don't have any trouble using the same function in other C# classes. Can someone indicate what is wrong with below VB.Net code.

However if the user then selects more days and times to add to the list box, and activates the button again, the previously added entries in the array are erased, and only the new entries are displayed. May 27, 2012I have a program that will compare an array of grocery list items glist and an array of coupon item clist.When I compare the two and if there is a match somewhere in the array I want to have a picturebox visible.When there is no match, I want the picture box not to be visible. I have an Array of String that contains all of the OPC Items that I wish to read from the OPC Server. Dec 19, 2011I have the following sub which works for the type "Button". I would like to make it general by having a parameter that is assigned a type rather than "Button" being hard wired. Can this be done? How do you pass a type? I tried the parameter "ByVal t as Type" but the compiler complained when I used t as a type and I also tried inserting (Of T)but the compiler complained about CType(control,T).

Feb 4, 2009I am in the process of creating a program that needs to pass some information to another program. The program that needs to receive the data is meant as an update program to the first. I send a new copy of the host program over the sockets connection, then I need to pass the file name and location to the update program. After this information is sent the host program will quit so that the update can overwrite the host with the new version. The the update program restarts the host and everything goes on like normal. I have everything all-ready in place, except for passing the file information. I could just save the information in a text file and read form this, but it seems messy and illogical.
