Passing Process Path To Textbox?
Jun 22, 2010
I have a listview with process that are running. my goal is to pass the "path" of the process to a text box when someone clicks on a selection.but my code isnt working correctly, this is what I have:
Private Sub lvwProcBox_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles lvwProcBox.SelectedIndexChanged
Dim pID As Integer = Int32.Parse(lvwProcBox.SelectedItems(0).SubItems(1).ToString)
Dim proc As System.Diagnostics.Process = Process.GetProcessById(pID)
[code]....
and of course the text boxes path changes to a different path if a different selection is made?

I have a procedure (parent process) that starts several processes (child processes). The child processes calculate several array variables. How can I pass those arrays to the parent process? At the moment, the child processes write the arrays to a streambuilder and the parent process reads the stream. Is there a better way to do it? Is it possible to have the child processes write to RAM memory and have the parent process read from there? It is like declaring a global variable in the parent process and give the child processes access to it.

I'm writing a program to control another program using redirected input and output. This is a simple sample of what i want to do that works. But since I'll then be adding other commands and waiting for other responses like username: then password: then. I'd like to put the "wait for" and "send" sections in sub routines. My problem is somehow I'd have to pass a reference to the process or at least sIn, sOut and sLog to those routines and I don't know how. Do I dim the process as global or???

I'm running some command line programs through my app and I have to pass some parameters to the command line app.I'm launching the command line with Start.Process and using StartInfo.Arguments = "".The problem is that some of the parameters require me to pass quotes and when I put quotes into the compiler, it doesn't register it in the way I want it to.

I'm writing a program that checks processes (when they start), and kills any processes that aren't acceptable. My program is mostly done, but I only just ran into a problem: when I try to get the path (one of the criteria) of a process running under a different user, (MainModule.FileName) I get an exception:
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception occurred
ErrorCode=-2147467259
Message="Access is denied"
NativeErrorCode=5
Source="System"
[Code] .....
Now, the program doing the checking is running with complete administrator privileges, so I can pretty much wrangle any permission I need. How can I obtain the path of the process? (I can use WMI, by the way, I've already used it for another part of this).

Im working on a Dll Injector. But that is not my problem. I am using a picturebox to display the icon of a running process. E.g. If google chrome is running. The picturebox should display the icon of google chrome.
I can extract the icon to my picturebox only if I know the full path of the process. That API was easily found and works very well.
But know I want my application to get the full path of a running process automatically as soon as I order it.Like in a textbox is write: chrome.exe, and press the button next to it. What do I need to write in the button to get the full path of that running process.(of course only if its running, I if its not running I dont want anything to happned)

I have a fairly simple piece of code for viewing files System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(tFileInfo.FullName
Basically passes the path of a file to the process and let Windows deal with how to open it. Have also tried Dim myProcess As New System.Diagnostics.Process

Works beautifully on my machine, but on three others i have tested it on, it opens PDF and TXT files no problem, but as soon as I attempt to open a Word file or an Excel file I get "There is not enough memory or disk space to open Word" and similar in Excel if the application is not already open. If the Office app is open, the code works perfectly. Has anyone come across this before?

I have researched the Internet and found more than a few potential solutions, but I keep getting errors on a Windows 7 machine. Here's the scoop. I have an application written in VB.NET that launches a console application. The console application will run independently of my VB.NET app, so the user can close and restart the VB.NET app and potentially start a second session of the console app from the same installation.

I am working in VB2008. I don't know what process is started when a user double clicks on a folder to display its contents. I am working on an application where I store paths to various folders in a database that is displayed in a treeview. I would like to be able to select a node in my tree and then pass the path to the associated folder to the application which can display the contents of the folder. I need to know the name of the application or process that I am trying to startup to display my folder contents.

I am trying to automate a process I do with a bank with vb.net. Basically I need to open a website and navigate through it (Automatically through the program obviously), enter a batch ID and enter a file path and name. For some reason when I get to the part where I need to enter the file name and path, it simply will not populate the text. I have attached a word document with screenshots and code. The only difference I can see, is that in the bank website's code the the input type for the file text is "FILE" rather than "TEXT" as it is for the batch id...

I have a datarepeater with a textbox that shows a row id in a sql server, for each instance of the datarepeater there's a button on the datarepeater that I'd like to have the user click, and that would send the text from the textbox on that row to another form, possibly just to a textbox on that other form. anyone know the code that would accomplish this? i've been looking all around but no luck, (i did have luck with the item_cloned solution for combobox's in datarepeaters tho..

I have 3 forms, the form one is an intro, form 2 loads a user and form 3 displays a user. i use the streamread / writer to load values on form 2, then when successful it loads form 3 and the vaules are transferred perfectly, now to save time i changed the start up form from form1 to form2 (saves having to skip every time). so after having all the code load and transfer i wanted to see it in action and then the issues started.

I have a Windows Form Application that has a few TextBoxes, Buttons, and a couple of ListViews. One of the TextBoxes takes an entry (usually by a barcode scanner or the user can type text and hit the TAB character) and then that searches through some data structures and if found it modifies the color on a row in one of the ListViews and adds a row to the other ListView. What I want to be able to do is to put the focus back on the Textbox that takes the input from the barcode reader.The problem I'm having is that the TextBox doesn't always get focus back after a scan. Sometimes after a scan it looks like the focus is on one of the splitContainers. I can manually take the mouse and put the focus back on the TextBox, but that would be kind of inconvienient for the user. What I would like would be for the user to be able to scan (which enters text into the textbox and then TABS out). The TextBox's Leave Event fires and runs the code that manipulates the ListView's and then at the end the leave event code clears the textbox with TextBox1.Text = "" and then calls TextBox1.Focus()
I've tried using TextBox1.Select() and/or TextBox1.Focus() and neither one works. I even put in a Apllication.doEvents() so that any pending action that might cause focus to change will happen before I call the Focus() or Select() code.My guess is that maybe it has to do with some race condition on actions that pull focus away, but how can I keep focus on the text field and still allow the user to use the mouse to press the EXIT or SAVE buttons or even click on an item in one of the ListViews (which doesn't do anything right now).
I do have a check in the TextBox.leave event that checks for empty values using

I am using VB 2010 express and am trying to make a program for a project that generates lottery numbers in a specific way. What I have is two forms. Form one has two text boxes and a button. Form two has a checkedlistbox that is pre-populated with numbers from 1-56. What I am trying to do is have the program open to form1, the user presses button1 ("Select Numbers") which opens form2. From there they will select numbers they want to pick from (narrowing their pool of lotto picks to only numbers they want to use). Then when they hit select, I want the numbers they have checked to return back to the textbox1 on form1. HOWEVER, I also only want 5 numbers, randomly selected, from the pool of checked numbers the user selected on form2 to return to the textbox1 on form1..... I may be in wayyy over my head, but I have all of the forms designed and I have been close to getting the forms to at least communicate, but still far from doing what I have described I am trying to do.

I am using following code to connect to my database.
Dim conStr As String = "Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS; ![enter image description here][1]
AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|dbTest.mdf;
Integrated Security=True;
User Instance=True"
Dim sqlQry As String = "SELECT * FROM [tblTest] WHERE ([Name] = @Name)"
Dim dAdt As New SqlDataAdapter(sqlQry, conStr)
Dim dSet As New DataSet()
Then filling adapter with
dAdt.Fill(dSet, "tblTest")
And then I can use the data the way I want.
My question is: How to pass the value of parameter that user will give through a text box on my webform.
Dim sqlQry As String = "SELECT * FROM [tblTest] <b>WHERE ([Name] = @Name)
I mean how to pass the parameter value to my query?

in my form, i have a textbox in which its visible property is set to false. this textbox is bound to my table's primary key column.
whenever i try to add a new record, it automatically generates a value and i can see that when the visible property is set to true. now when i set it to false and do a messagebox.show(textbox.text), it shows no value. so i set the visible to true and then the messagebox does show a value.
i don't want this textbox shown in my form but i need to get the value from the textbox when the primary key value is generated.
how can i do this without showing the textbox?
