I have been searching all over for something that will do this and the only thing I managed to find was [URL]..I do not however want it for this application (If I really wanted to cheat at a game I would buy the software). VS 2010 Simple Regex Pattern Matching?
Jul 1, 2011I need an extremely simple regex pattern that matches anything within square brackets [].
Example:
This is a [test] text with [some] [examples].Required results: [test], [some], [examples].I don't want to get rid of the brackets, they should be included in the result (that should make it easier, right?)
If possible I'd like to exlude results that have whitespace in them, so things like [this string] should not be matched. If that gets too hard (probably not, but hey I can't even manage this :S) then I don't really mind, I can always check if the result contains whitespace myself.
I tried a lot of examples I could find online and ones that I could think of myself but none work. Note: I've been testing with the Visual Studio Find dialog (checking to use regular expressions obviously), maybe that's where the problem lies, because I don't really understand why some of these don't work...
Anyway, first thing I tried was simple: match the two brackets and one or more characters in between (that should be a +, right?)

Jan 26, 2010I don't know what this is called so I've struggled to find an answer from google but I have a vague memory of it from t'old days.I've sub-classed (* see below) about 8 framework controls, overriden some properties and added some functionality into each one.The changes I have made are identical in every case. If I make a change, I have to go through each class and apply the same change there.I was hoping there may be a keyword such as <IncludeSourcefile "common.vb> that I can put into each class.
(* note) I use the term sub-classed but I don't know if that's the correct terminology. I've also seen it used for call-backs. Is sub-classed the correct term to use?

Debugger Is Jumping All Over Because The Code Is Not Matching
Oct 12, 2010A VS 2005 VB.net forms app has suddenly started misbehaving. When I debug the debugger is jumping all over because the code is not matching. I have tried to clean both the solution and the project and rebuilding everything. I've checked I'm in debug mode. I've checked the debug settings to ensure that "require files to match..." is ticked. I also deleted all the temporary files form the solution. I even tried renaming the code file and class name of the problem file but without success. What else can I try?

Oct 28, 2010I have a webpage that needs to selectively show or hide a substantial number of controls. Each control's visibility is determined based on which of 3 conditions are true.So, for example, given the conditions A, B, and C;
Control1 needs to be visible only when A and B are true and C is false.
Control2 needs to be visible only when B and C are true and A is false.
Control3 needs to be visible only when A and C are true and it doesn't care what B is.
and so on...
If each control looked at every condition, the control logic would be ugly, but doable.

I have provided one of the simpler datalayers to show the basic idea.In particular I am starting to question if using shared methods was a good idea and what problems may arise from that? Will this implementation fail in a threaded environment like ASP.Net?

What Type Of Code Should Put In The Controller In The MVC Design Pattern
Jul 7, 2009In teh MVC design pattern, Controller is strongly related to the view (GUI). IN my application i need to generated a new BrandID, i used stored procedure to retreive the highest BrandID from teh DB (The model calls the stored procedure and sends the retreival value to the Controller), then in the controller increments the BrandID by "1" to create a new brand ID. SInce, controller is strogly related to "view", should i include this "brandID increment" part in teh controller or in the model classes?

May 3, 2011One of the problems that I constantly see with Winforms applications is that the GUI thread is stuck while a long-running task is running or just plain stops refreshing (yes, I know - needs threading). Is there a code template/design pattern I can use when reacting to mouse clicks or button presses? Should there be a processing thread always running in the GUI app? Have An Exe Write Another Using A Source Code?
Aug 9, 2009I have been looking forever and haven't even gotten a single clue on how to do this, but I made a program that sends a file that has some video game info to my e-mail. I want some other people to be able to use this, but I don't want to have to build another .exe for each person, so I was wondering if there was some way that I could make like 2 textboxes and a button where they enter their e-mail and password, then when they click the button it makes an .exe ( I would put textbox1 and textbox2 as the e-mail credentials I am assuming. )
