Atm. all the files being installed is in a seperate folder, and the installation program simply move them to the right location. There is a builder program too.I would like it to add all files from a list to the programs resource.folder instead of a seperate folder.Atm I add the installation file to the destination folder with the following line. [code]
let's say I have an xml file that I want to read and write from, should I save the file in a specific location on a harddisk or should I keep it in the resource folder of the application?

I am using Visual Studio 2008 Setup project. I need to copy one folder and the sub folders into the program files but when I tried to copy or add the folder to "Application Folder" in File System editor, I am able to add only files and not folders.
previously i have coded: Me.PictureBox1.Image = Image.FromFile(Application.StartupPath + "\JPG LandoltC" + filePath + ".jpg") where filePath is the function to locate the name of the pictures but now i have to put everything into the .exe to make it more "sightly" so now i'm trying Me.PictureBox1.Image = My.Resources.filePath and its not working.
My Program uses Interop_JRO.dll to compact it's database I need the "stand alone" exe alone so I need to - mix dll with exe or - add dll to exe then copy to program folder how can i do this ?
I want to delete some resource components from resource folder of my vb.net project. When I do this, error is occurred during compile time. How can I do this while the project is not disturbed?
i have program that must connect to a database at startup, i want the program to first check if the database exists (incase the user deleted it by mistake). If it doesnt exist the program must copy one which i have as a resource, to a certain folder. I have run into a minor problem though.. How do i copy the file from resources to the folder because, the IO.File.Copy() method only allows me to put the file path.
I have completed my vb project and have created the set up files as well.. Now when I try to install my program on another machine then it gives me an error. I found out the problem and it seems to be two of the images are not loading even though i have saved them in my application folder.. But when i save them in the resource folder the program runs but does not displays the images stored in the resource folder.
dim tick as image tick = My.Resources.ResourceManager.GetObject("button-tick.png")
What I'm trying to achieve is for a file to be copied from a templates folder to a project folder. The project folder path is constructed using the selected item in a combo box and a list box. [Code]
If I have a .dll, isn't it I can place it in a folder providing that the folder is included in the project? since I really do have a problem during publishing.
I added to images (.png) to my resource folder. When I am coding, only the first image is showing in the intellisense. Example: PictureBox1.Image = My.Resource.Picture1 I cannot get it to show me: My.Resources.Picture2 even though picture2 is in the resource folder.
I put an exe in the resources folder called 1.exe and put in the button event this command Proess.Start(My.Resources.1) But it gives me error can't find the specified file.
If I have say a wav file as a resource in a form, is there a way that I can extract it when the program is run and set it as say... the windows logon sound? Or perhaps an image and set it as the wallpaper? Or does it have to be an external file that the form would have to handle?
I have copied a folder with a project renaming the folder. I have then browsed and opened the project in the VB.Net 2005 IDE. I have then renamed the Assembly, root namespace, solution and project, searched and replaced all instances of original name, cleaned, rebuilt, tried deleting the bin and obj folders and rebuilt. But every time I run the newly named exe, when I try and start the original exe along side it nothing happens. it still thinks that the old exe is the same process? Both solutions are single instance applications. Why does it still think they are the same. I want the renamed copy to have slightly different functionality to cater for a different type of user but can't get both exe's to run at the same time which some users need. I can't see anywhere I have not changed the name for the new version.
In a VB project I can add a resource via the project properties resources tab, or I can right-click the project in the solution explorer, click add, then click add existing item. What are the differences? If I want to add a DLL file and include it as an embedded resource, do I have to add the file via both methods? Only one?
i want a random image from just a part of the resource folder to be shown in a picturebox . i have this code but it for the hole of the resource folder
Dim prng As New Random 'should be in namespace 'get list of all resources Dim rs As System.Resources.ResourceSet = [code]......
I deleted 3 old pictures from my resource folder. When building compiler alerted me to missing resources. Stupidly i manually edited the file and all my Toolbar icons are gone. Interesting enough the menu strip text all vanished and so did my status strip text. I managed to add back the deleted lines but still the same. If i delete the toolstrip all its buttons remain. Manually deleting each control, rewriting we are talking hours and hours of work.
i'm in the need to add two images to an imagelist of a button. The problem is that when i try to use the code here below : Public ImageList1 As ImageList
Im in a win.form app. in .Net 2008 I have a lot of Icons that I want to display on a (TouchScreen enviroment) button The icons are in 8,16; 32 bit in the sizes 16X16 ; 32X32 ; 48X48
The buttons are large enough, they have a dimension of 252X132.The images are loaded via the Button propertie : Image. This has allso a size propertie, but is disabled. And I can see its loading the 32X32 32bpp format But I want the 48X48 size on there. Does some 1 knows how to get those sizes op the button.
I know its possible via a imagelist but why have a resource if you cant use it??
can anyone tell me if this option is available in VB.NET 05/08, I want to add Win32 resource file (.res) to project but i can't find any option to do that, and the option was in C#. This not a regular resource, it was created using native resources template. Below are the screenshots of Application tab in project property from C# and VB IDE. The option that im looking for is in red box on C# screenshot
