trying to write an updateview method to basically clear the contents of the current listbox and then loop through a list of objects and pass 2 items from each of the objects in the list into the listbox.This is what I have so far

I'm trying to get a listbox to populate a list of processes that are neither running nor in the "blocked" list. This code is in a timer, so it also checks if the process is already in the list.

It is strange because this is populating the list, but adding the same process over and over again, even though I seem to have the checks in there.
I need to be able to add elements to a copy of mylist.testlist without modifying the global mylist object. (Which seems to be happening via the below code.)When I am working on x, which should be a totally separate object, mylist is getting modified as well. How can I fix this? I have worked with lists extensively and never seen this behavior before. I have tested and reproduced the problem in .NET 3.5 and .NET 4.0 on Win 7 Pro 32bit.

I need to populated a ComboBox and a CheckedListBox with a list of the Windows Accounts on the host computer. I also need to the user to be able to apply settings to the users individually. Thirdly, I need to find a way to add a startup registry key in the CURRENT_USER for a different user than the "Current User" (For example: User1 is an Administrator. User2 is a Limited Account [can't modify registry]. User1 needs to add Registry key to User2's "CURRENT_USER". This is a parental control application so the Admin accounts need to be able to access the registry from all users without affecting all users at once. I do not have any code to paste because I still have not the foggiest idea of where to start. I think it probably has something to do with an array (I have no experience with arrays whatsoever) but I am stumped from there. I'm a new, self-taught programmer so I speak idiot at times,

1) How do I retrieve a list of Windows Users?
2) How do I populate the objects above with such a list?
3) How do I interact with the items on that list (specific user accounts)?

I have a large list of keyword and I want include this list in a listbox .How can I do it?
I tried by paste the list in the collection control but by this way the listbox allow only a small amount of keywords.
I have created a list of another class and loaded the list with data. using breakpoints I can see that the data is loading and visible in my form page. However, when I attempt to access the list using a For Each loop, I get an error saying that "Value of type Customer can not be converted to Integer"I am trying to follow examples from tutorials on accessing list elements, but they are never lists of objects, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

But as soon as the code assigned "Chicken" to BeaconStory.Title, then BeaconStoryList(0).Title would also change to "Chicken".
With my second version of the code this did not happen.
It's as though it was placing pointers into the elements of the array rather than values. If that is the case, however, then why does my second version of the code work - I'm still passing in the same thing - aren't I?
Good example using the List(T) object. I need to be able to add and remove items from it.

I have two listboxes. One for unselected bound to a datareader and one for selected. It can move all, some back and forth. I have the move buttons in an update panel and generate a report on a button click. I have this working fine. What I need to do now is color the items red or blue based on a third value from the datareader. Then add buttons to move all red >> / << or all blue >> / << Unfortunately, I can't post the code. I'm using VB.Net 2.0.
View 14 RepliesI am using VB.NET (version 2008). I have two types of items populating in a listbox (checked listbox). For example: lets say one is type "A" and other is "Type B". Their names maybe same so if the user sees those items in listbox then he won;t be able to determine their type until he click on them and checks out its properties. I wanted that I add each item to listbox and colour them so that blue for example means type "A" is there and red means the other. So this way I will be able to know at a glance that how many item of what type is present. I guess it may not be possible to do that in a standard checkedlistbox. I am also using component factory's krypton controls which enhance the gui of an application. But I dunno if I can progress using that.

Operators can check multiple accounts at one time using the web interface. The webservice returns a list(of AccountCheck) objects which themselves contain single properties like username, email address, and List(of AccountError) objects which contain multiple properties.[code]What I want to do is using some kind of repeater, create multiple panels or divs which contain labels showing the username, email etc, and a gridview which has the accounterror list bound to it to show all the errors. I have a Report I created with Visual Studio's VB.Net ( I guess this makes my report embedded), which I can select a date range like starting and ending date but the drop-down listbox for the Name is empty and I have to type a name into it to work. I need to be able to choose the name because I won't know who is on the list.

I want to be able to populate the textboxes when the user selects a customer. For example: If User selects AAA, textbox1.text = AAA, then if User selects CCC, textbox2.text = CCC etc.
