Apr 8, 2011I have been able to do the exercise's in the first 2 chapters and half the exercise's in the third chapter of the text book (programming in visual basic 2008, Julia Case Bradley & Anita C. Millspaugh). but this one is making my head want to explode. please point me in the right direction with this.
Heres the problem. The company has instituted a bonus program to give its employees an incentive to sell more. For every dollar the store makes in a four-week period, the employees receive 2 percent of sales. The amount of bonus each employee receives is based upon the percentage of hours he or she worked during the bonus period (a total of 160 hours). The Calculate button will determine the bonus earned by this employee, and the Clear button will clear only the name, hours-worked, and bonus amount fields. A Print button allows the user to print the form. Do not allow missing or bad input data to cancel the program; instead display a message to the user.
Here's my code so far. its giving me the wrong results. i have tried many different ways,(hence the commented code) but I just dont know where im going wrong.

Dec 14, 2009I have a form with multiple datagridviews. On save the entire dataset will be serialized to a strongly typed property bound to a sql varbinary(max) Works fine. Of course the current "dirty" cell will not be saved as mentioned here :

My problem is the user could be coming from any one of 20 datagridviews when they click SAVE. Is there any way, short of checking for a dirty cell in each datagridview to commit any dirty cell before the save ( clicking another textbox control before the save does the trick but calling the focus() of that textbox prior to the save does not ) I was thinking perhaps catching the event of leaving the grid but it seems the base problem is clicking a button (for reasons I think I understand) does not fire lostfocus events for the current control and it doesn't seem the click handler args knows what the last current selected control is.

Mar 23, 2006I have a program needs to print directly to a Zebra TLP 2844-Z barcode printer.
I tried the codes in [url]... but an error occurred when i run it, as follows:

Clicking The [X] Closes But Clicking Exit Button Does Not?
Jul 11, 2011When the user clicks the Exit button it closes the forms and if there was an open file it asks the user is they would like to save. But after the application closes there is still memory being held in Processes by the application. However, when pressing the [X] in the top of the form the application closes again but in this instance it is not held in Processes. How do I write the close for Exit to take into account how the [X] works and close the application cleanly?

Data Manipulation And Print Report Directly To Printer
Jun 21, 2010I have a process that does a lot of data manipulation and then prints a simple report directly to a printer. The overall priority is speed. Tens of thousands of records need to be scanned & processed individually so moving thru them quickly as possible is the goal.
Pseudo code
01)Scan Barcode
02)Fill DataSet from Sql Server
03)Manipulate data in dataset
04)Update data back to Sql Server
05)Print crystal report directly to printer; the dataset is the reports source
06)Clear dataset and start next record back at step one
The process if pretty complicated with a ton data manipulation and data coming from multiple sources but that part works super and in short all I am doing is scanning barcode, filling a dataset, passing it to a report and starting over. Steps 1 to 4 are averaging one tenth of a second (0.01) to complete; great. Passing it to the report to print takes several seconds which is the problem. I thought I would resolve this by passing the dataset to the report print sub - allowing the print sub to run on a background thread - and moving on to processing the next record.

I have been attempting to add the PrintReport sub to process on a background thread. The problem though is the main thread blows right by to the next step and clears the dataset; causing an error in the report sub. I've tried unsuccessfully just about everything I can think of; including using DataSet.Copy to local datasets (which I really don't want to keep recreating the same object over & over tens of thousands of times), as soon as the main dataset clears, all clear.
