I wrote a program using VB 2005 Express edition using a computer with windows xp us edition. the program run fine on al machines here in San Diego but it gets a .net framework error on a computer in the Netherlands with a windows Xp Dutch edition.

Tried to run it over server and previous versions of windows (all 32 bit) and got an error (see screenshot attached) In some googling looked like there was an export function I missed so I've done: -Tools -> Options -> Projects and Solutions -> Check "Show Advanced Build Configurations" box -Project -> project properties -> Compile -> Advanced Compile -> and I've read there is something that should be changed here (the target framework?)

I created an msi script to install the software on other machines and it includes the .NET 4.0 framework an all of my application dll's and such. Any idea what might be he problem?

Whenever I try to build I get the above error. I ve tried several solutions given online but I ve failed to get a solution. When I transfer the system to a machine running Windows Xp or Windows 2003 Server it builds successfuly.

(The computers that I plan to use this program on only have .NET 3.5 SP1, and are painfully slow, so I don't want to upgrade them to .NET 4.)I have seen in the documentation that the Express edition does not have the option to change the target framework in the "New Project" dialog. View 9 RepliesI create a new Windows Forms application and add an AboutBox form which is built-in into Visual Studio. I add a button to Form1 to show the AboutBox when clicked.The AboutBox form has a label with the text "Version" on it. The following code is supposed to add the application's version to that label at run-time:

Even when the application is published to the desktop, it still does not work. It does, however, reflect the correct version number in the title of a subfolder in the Applications folder that is created when the application is published.
I have written a program in VB Express 2008 and published it so I can install on another PC. When trying to install on another PC I get the error message "Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPack.Vs Version 9.0.0.0 be installed in the Global Cache (GAC) first" I have already installed the .NET 3.5 and the PowerPack but I still get the message.

I have an application that will not load unless my local SQL Server is running on an Vista Home Premium machine. This started after a .Net 1 to .Net 4 conversion. I am using a sub main sub that is not being called (msgbox is not fired when entering the app), however, I see the app through taskmgr with increasing memory usage, but then the app is removed from the list. By design, if the program cannot locate a SQL Server a form pops up with a connection box to locate the SQL Server for the app. How it determines if it has a valid connection is the program looks for a connection string in the registry, then attempts to connect to it, however, none of this code executes because of the failure to enter into the sub main.The two machines I have tried the 32 bit app on
XP Pro: Failed / Using SQL Server 2008 Express
Windows 2003 Server: Works / Using SQL Server 2008 Developer
Both machines have .Net 4 Client Profile with Extended?

I have built a DLL for changing the default printer to a new value and then setting it back to the original. This DLL will be called from a VBA addon to an ERP product. I think the version of the VBA is 6.3.
I have built a Visual Basic 2008 Dll using a COM component. This generates a DLL and TLB file. Using Regasm.exe from the .net frameworkv2.0.50727 folder to successfully register these components on Windows XP and Window 7 32 bit.
However, when I try to do this on a Windows 7 64 bit system, it fails. After some fiddling around, I was able to get a successful registration using the Regasm.exe in framework64v2.0.50727. But after the successful registration, the VBA project still cannot use the DLL.
When I try to Reference the .tlb file in the VBA project, it is not visible even though the dialog filter is set to dll, tlb.If I try to use late binding by using the getobject and/or createObject method, it fails.
There are two ways to answer this request.1. How do I register my 32 bit COM dll on a Windows 7 64 bit machine?
2. How do I write a COM DLL component from scratch for a WIndows 7 64 bit machine using Visual Basic 2008 ( or 2010. I will upgrade if necessary)?
I Have old vb windows application, we develop new .Net Application that uses the old VB DLL functions, for testing purposes I have to install the two application in one client machine,
BUT The Problem: When I install the new .Net and register the DLL , it works fine,,

If i register the DLL again and run the VB application , it works fine...

We are using a Windows 7 virtual machine as a testing platform for our VB 6 application. Th application utilizes an Access database.The application locates the database by looking at a configuration (ini) file.When I install the application on the virtual machine, it places a database where InstallShield directs it to and writes that path to the ini file. All well and good.However,somehow a second copy of the database is created in a user local folder.
If the user uses the "run as administrator" option, the application uses the database that is in the location designated in the ini file and that works fine. But if the user does not select the "run as administrator" option, the application apparently somehow attempts to use the local database and is unable to locate it.
Is this behavior is peculiar to the virtual machine, or is it something we need to be concerned about on "real" Windows 7 systems?If it is peculiar to the virtual machine, is there some way to get the virtual machine to behave more normally?

When I loaded it on a machine running Windows 7 64 bit, the application runs fine, but one window that has MenuItem controls does not work properly, instead of being able to change items from the collection, that area is just greyed.
