Program To Copy The File That The User Selects To "temp" Folder?

I have an OpenFileDialog. I want the program to copy the file that the user selects to my "temp" folder. If the user doesn't select any file, then it doesn't copy any thing. Here is my code:
Dim Temp As String = "Temp"
If Not Form6.OpenFileDialog12.FileName = "" Then
System.IO.File.Copy(Form6.OpenFileDialog12.FileName, Temp & System.IO.Path.GetFileName(Form6.OpenFileDialog12.FileName))
End If
But it doesn't copy any of my files over that are loaded in the OpenFileDialog.

Am trying to copy contents of file temp.fxl to temp.seq. I want them to look exactly them. I don't want to copy the file though. I use the following code
Dim fs As New FileStream("c:\fxlate\output\temp.fxl", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read)
Dim s As New StreamReader(fs)

With such simple code, the last line in temp.seq is truncated as attached and the size of the file is smaller than temp.fxl. See attached files. What do I need to do on the above code. Is VB.NET failing to write 1024 characters on one line.

I have a case where the user or client attaches the document and the document is saved in the data base as byte stream.Now I need to get that binary data and convert it to the corresponding format and save the file in the temp folder in client system using VB.net and then I want to get the path where it was saved so that I can send it to the data base for sending DB email.

It's probably the most basic of things, but all I can find is how to launch a program, and not with the interactions I desire. Any tips as to the terms to use to search for answers, or links to topics regarding questions similar to mine, would be very appreciated. I have a form on which the user selects a file using an openFileDialog. The selected filepath is then processed, which may take 10-20 seconds before the user is presented with the results.I'm finding that the once the user selects the file (clicking the OK button on the openFileDialog), the openFileDialog remains open until all of the processing going on in the background is completed. Once the processing has finished the openFileDialog disappears and the results are shown.The problem is that whilst the openFileDialog remains open on screen, it is not apparent to the user that anything is happening in the background. I do actually have a textbox which updates the user with messages showing the progress. However the openFileDialog hides the messages until it closes, essentially making the progress messages useless.What I'm trying to do is have the openFileDialog close immediately that the user selects a file. Then the processing can continue without the openFileDialog obscuring my form.

I am working on cinema booking system project in vb.net..I have to book seats in the cinema..I have created a file for seat reservation for every movie..The seating is such that there are 18 seats and in the file have written 0s and 1s indicating reserved and vacant seats respectively..User selects a movie from a combobox and the corresponding file opens..We have to change the color of those seats which are already booked to red.Here is my code but it doesnt work..

I'm wanting to write a program where a user can copy text from a pdf file, paste it into my program and it can identify which file the text came from and where in the file the text was copied from. This is so that later on, the user can then select the pasted text, and the program can load up the source pdf and highlight the text section.Are there any components out there which I can use to accomplish this

I'm in the process of adapting a current program that I've created to automate it. **Current State***User selects an excel file and the contents are loaded into a DataGrid User can select which environment to run their query against (stage/prod) Program completes processing and updates datagrid with new values User can export datagrid to excel What I'd like to do is centralize the program on one computer and have it monitor a network folder for creation of a specific file type (*.xls or *.xlsx). If one of these is created in that folder then I want to add that file to a queue for processing. Once done processing I want to send the results as an attachment to an email to the user that created the file. After a file is processed I would like to remove it from that folder as well (into a diff folder of completed items).

I'm using Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition. I have a Folder Dialog Browser added in my form and I call it when the user presses a button. The folder path string is stored in a string variable and displayed as text in a text box. (maybe I should use a combo box)
My question is: If the user inputs by hand a non existent path, how do I return an error message, stop the file creation into the invalid path, and return to my main form?

i created a form with a combobox that lists out Assignments ( assignment 1, assignment 2, etc...)......what i need to do is let the user choose an assignment, then the program should look for the matching text file in a folder, ex: user picks assignment 1, and the program will read from assignment1.txt and display the result in a listbox. I have everything except the coding to match what the user chooses and the text file to streamread.

Is there a way to set admin permission on them user/AppData/Local/Temp folder?I need to set it so folders and subfolder cant be deleted, then turn it back on. Not doing anything shady... this is for personal use I make themes for BB phones, and there is a trick where you can set this permission, then export the theme, and it allows you to look at the code of the theme so you can make adjustments in how things work

I am making a program in vb.net (Vb 2008) but I want to call a dll or add a dll as reference but there's a prob. I don't want to put DLL in same folder of binary like if exe in d:/ so dll will also be in d:/. I want to call it like environ("temp") or from any other which give constant value not in string like ("c:/windows/system32/user32.dll") etc.. Or directory from resources without dropping it out.

I hava a form app, that runs hidden, with just a notify icon, the goal is control worker schedule and alert them for some things they have to do.My problem is,when i open a form (with TopMost = True), it works if the user is admin of the machine or domain admin, if the user is "regular" user, the form just don't open or shown to the screen.I believe that it has got something to do with write permissions in the app folder. I have a contextmenu that works great, even restoring the hidden main form, it just doesn't show/open the other form, without any error.Shouldn't .net use the user $temp folder to write something? If not what's the best way for the app use the EnvironmentVariable("temp")?
