View 1 RepliesI just changed a control on a form from a masked textbox to a normal textbox because I wrote my own code to validate the data. I'm trying to clear the leading spaces that were created for this column in an Access database using the LTrim function and it doesn't work for some reason. The column is " :30" in the table and when I LTrim it and save the changes, it's still " :30" , not ":30". Is that leading entry not a space character?

View 16 RepliesI am going to make a form which will have 10 MaskedTextBoxes. I want to validate input of all these MaskedTextBoxes then Sum the input of validated one into another MaskedTextBox. If there is any value in any MaskedTextBox it mast be validate by the format of "9990.000" or if it is empty return zero. I do not want to write the same code for every MaskedTextBox, I want to use function & sub. The problem with "e" type TypeValidationEventArgs. When I call the SumBurBoxes sub in txtBur_1_TypeValidationCompleted & give the "e" as second parameter, then if the txtBur_1 be invalid type and any other txtBur Boxes have value it will get error on all boxes if the txtBur_1 be valid type even the the other boxes be invalid type it does not get error on them.

I have a maskedtextbox that i want to limit character input in it but i can't manage to figure it out.The date type is "yyyy-mm-dd" and the mask is "1300/00/00" (it is not gregorian calender, it is persian )In the TextChanged event i am changing the bindingsource filter.Because of this i don't want the user enters invalid date. For example the user enters 9 in here : "1300/90/00" i want to prevent this from happening before TextChanged event occur. (the place isn't important i just want to stop user from entering an invalid month or day)I have tried the KeyPress event but i don't know how to detect where in the textbox user is entering a character.
Note that i know already how to validate and i have a code for that but the TypeValidationCompleted event occur when user does all changes and leave the textbox.

View 1 Repliesim calculating fare amount from 2 masktextbox mtxA and mtxB, i use the format 0000.00 ,, i was able to convert all prompt char values from mtxA and turned them into really zero but however it doesnt do the same on mtxb, though ive used similar code.. so my flow should be: whatever i values i put on mtxA.. on its textchange,its current value should be also put to mtxB plus an additional of 200.00
as an example : if i put on mtxA = 0030.00
mtxB = 0230.00 should be the display
but what is shows on me is mtxB = 2300.00 and also if i save it on the database .00 is not added,.....im tired fixing this so i try to use textbox instead of maskdtextbox, what i did is put lots of conditions and function on keypress to have the same format 0000.00 but i failed because everything on my code mess up whenever the user tried to edit the text according to textbox current position..check textbox.text current length from 0 to before the cursor location...but i dont know what code i should use to get the length..

I need it to be much quicker than that. Is there a way I can setup a virtual serial port so I can run test it on my PC. i am working on my collage project in which i have an "sensor" which detects weights.specifications : (COM1,2400,N,8)I have added two components Timer and Serialport and set the values timer duration =1000 and added a button and textbox.when user clicks on the button timer1 gets started.and in timer1 i added th code which reads the input from serial.now the problem with the code. the input which i eceive is in ASCII formats(actually some of chars are in ascii format).This is the output i m getting :- 029990so i created a string variable which stores this value.
actually i want only number from that string

I just got Visual Basics 2008 Express Edition and I am very addicted to it.I am quite a fast learner. I was able to script together many fun applications that I learn from YouTube. I want to make a registration form look-a-like.I setup the design the way I wanted it and now its the coding part I am having trouble with.I have been on Youtube and this site for some tutorials but I still cant find what I am looking for. I have 4 Text boxes, one being Name, second being Last Name, third being E-mail, and fourth being Username.I also have a OK button that I want them to press when they fill in all text fields. The problem I am having is, say they only fill in the Name & E-mail field and leave the Last Name & Username feild blank when they hit OK I want a error to come up and say Please fill in all information. The start date defines the first column the next column is the next date... until the end date (x-axis). The y-axis is technicians and the fields will show the assignment for the technician on that date.
All the advise I am seeing on datagridviews is to create a property methods to provide the information for each column. for example:

How do I create a object data source that allows me to populate the data grid? I want the column headers to be included as a string in row 0 of the multidimensional array. The amount of columns will be dynamic with a minimum of 1 and maximum viewing of 100 days based on what dates are selected in the start date and end date fields.The input dates will be used to generate a query to a database that will populate the multidimensional array.One solution I see is pick a start date and have a set number of dates and code for set number of columns (100) in a row and then set the names of the columns dynamically...ahhhh code repetition!
I am not sure how else to do this but looking for a more suttle way.I am using this to create a simple scheduling tool to see resource schedules by date. There is an unmoveable end date so initially I will need to look ahead 100 days but as the end date gets closer, I will have fewer and fewer dates. So eventually the end date will be that start date.
