im using iTextSharp to read a PDF (both password protected and not), i was able to get most of what i need but ran into a problem when the document that im trying to read has some disabled text select (this is the feature where you cant copy-paste the content of a PDF file)what im working on is to render the content of the PDF in HTML form so that i can highlight whichever is needed and group the selected text to whichever category it fits (like tagging a word or a sentence)i checked every byte which was extracted from the PDF but it doesnt contain any of the unselectable text?

I've been searching all over the interwebs this afternoon trying to find a way to change the color of a disabled text box. As it stands, I'm still working on my first program (A very simple, select a shape from a combo box and input values and the program gives you the area) and I have it working well enough, I'm just working on cleaning up my code and changing that disabled text box color. As it stands, the default disabled color is very similar to the enabled color, and I don't want to just change the enabled color. I'd rather change the disabled to work with the scheme a little better.
does anyone know how to change the text color of a disabled checkbox control?I have drawn a black background on my form interface and a checkbox has been positioned on top of this background. When the checkbox has its enabled property set to false, the text cannot be seen at all ( so I assume the disabled text color is black ).Does anyone know how to change this color? I've tried changing the chkbox.forecolor property from within the program code but it didn't change the disabled text color :/
Is it possible to make a multi-line text box still scrollable while it's disabled? The closest I can achieve this is to set the text box's ReadOnly property to false, which will gray out the text box, and still scrollable, but the text in the box remains black instead of being gray. Changing the forecolor of the text box does not have any effect. The color of the text changes back to black when I set ReadOnly to true. I want to be able to mimic the disabled text box visually.
I am trying to make a calculator program. I would like the display(text box) to have a white background, with black font. So I set the "enabled" property of the textbox to "false"(because I want it to display, not receive input) and then choose the background colour to be white. In the form designer, the text colour is black, which is what I want.But when I start debugging, the text becomes the colour of the form. How can I make the font black?
As some of you are aware of, I am fairly new to VB.NET. I am trying to learn as much as I can. I have a textbox which is set to multiline. It's setup to accept a maximum of 500 characters (10 lines of 50). First of all, since it's size is fixed, how can I remove the right bar on the left as im not using it (the scrolling bar).
#2, once a user click on a button, I disable the textbox and display the text. I can set the background color, however it looks like when the textbox is disabled, text is gray and can't be changed. A fix I found is to use a label and hide the textbox, but are there any easier way ?

I've been writing a weight program for flooded pressure vessels and I'm having trouble retrieving the data from the text files I've been saving. I know how to write the data to the text file, but retrieving it with OpenFileDialog is not so easy for me.The user has individual text boxes that they input strings or numbers into and when they save the file, each text box input is written to one line in the text file. For example, the first text box is for the username, therefore the first line of text that is saved is the person's name, the second text box is the customer, thus the second line in the text file is the customer name, and so on.
(Actually, the first line of text in the saved file designates whether English units were used or Metric units because when the user retrieves the saved file, English units will open one form and Metric units will open a separate form, so some If...Then statement will need to occur).I need to be able to read the first line, have either my "EnglishForm"form open or my "MetricForm" form open, and then have each subsequent line of text be displayed in their corresponding text boxes. I know I need to use ReadLine or LineInput, but I don't have a clue what to do.Assuming the syntax I've displayed below would just magically work (if only life were that easy), it would look something like this

I want to split each line at the comma and write the left side to a textbox and the the right side to another textbox. I'm close, with the code below, but I can only post results from the first line in the file. How do I loop this and append the text results in each of the textboxes.

I'm a little new to VB, and I'm in a class for it, but I'm trying to do something we aren't going to learn in the class (mostly out of sheer interest) and I need help. I'm trying to read lines from a text file into a listbox, each line representing a new item on the listbox. For example, if the text file reads: [code]I want to be able to take that as is and read it into a listbox, where those words would appear in the exact same fashion; as a list, each as separate items. I've looked at the Help stuff and learned (sorta) about delimiters... but the thing is I don't want to write my entire list in a continuous line separated by commas--I want it to keep reading each line, and moving on to the next, until there are no more lines left. I have searched on google for nearly an hour now and haven't found anything of any real use. One of the earlier projects we submitted used a similar target, and I managed to get it working fine, however I dont have the original source code with me and I cannot remember how I did it.
I believe I used a Net.WebRequest method of some sort, because I had tried using StreamReader and ended up with an URI error or something like that.
I'm adding a method to find and select text in my text editor. Everything worked fine, including the ability to find all instances of the text. My problem came when I tried to make it more user-friendly (doesn't it always?). Originally I had only a menu item with a shortcut( Ctrl + F) which invoked an input box.
Then I added a textbox and a button (similar to that seen in a web browser's Find() method) that calls the method in the same manner as the Find/Replace menu option and displays the desired text in the textbox. Everything works fine except that the text is not selected. I have MessageBoxes displaying the values of required variables in 3 places (marked ***FOR DEBUG ONLY***) to make sure that no values are being changed, but all variables are the same. The method still locates the text, but it is not highlighted.
I think it could have something to do with which object has focus. (When I click the button, the selected text loses focus?). But if I click everything with the menu items, it still works...

In the RTB I cannot select the desired text. So say I type asdsaf/safgd and only try to select saf/saf, when the cursor comes to "/" all of the text gets selected. This is nothing to do with coding or programming i suppose. Is there a property i need to make true or false

Okay so I am very new to visual basic I am currently using VB 2010 I know that this is not the correct forum but I figured it was the closest to it since there is no VB 2010.Anyways I am making a program for my Dad's company that can keep track of inventory so I need to store the info in a .txt and load it up etc. I currently am using a stream writer to write to the text and I got that down pat I am just having troubles loading it back up and putting the info in specific text boxes aka sorting or parsing? the information. I have looked at several tutorials and the problem is that I just simply don't know what I am looking at I've been tinkering with it for a couple hours now with no luck so I hope you guys could help me out .
