I have a Text Box not visible and disabled upon form load. by the time I wanna close the form the text box is enabled.
This is happening without any code enabling it.
I have changed all IF statements that check if it's enabled to
IF <textbox>.Enabled.ToString = true THEN[code]...
I am disabling combobox in VB.net. But in disable mode it not visible properly. I tried changing both BackColor and ForeColor but it is not working.

I've been searching all over the interwebs this afternoon trying to find a way to change the color of a disabled text box. As it stands, I'm still working on my first program (A very simple, select a shape from a combo box and input values and the program gives you the area) and I have it working well enough, I'm just working on cleaning up my code and changing that disabled text box color. As it stands, the default disabled color is very similar to the enabled color, and I don't want to just change the enabled color. I'd rather change the disabled to work with the scheme a little better.

does anyone know how to change the text color of a disabled checkbox control?I have drawn a black background on my form interface and a checkbox has been positioned on top of this background. When the checkbox has its enabled property set to false, the text cannot be seen at all ( so I assume the disabled text color is black ).Does anyone know how to change this color? I've tried changing the chkbox.forecolor property from within the program code but it didn't change the disabled text color :/
View 3 RepliesIs it possible to make a multi-line text box still scrollable while it's disabled? The closest I can achieve this is to set the text box's ReadOnly property to false, which will gray out the text box, and still scrollable, but the text in the box remains black instead of being gray. Changing the forecolor of the text box does not have any effect. The color of the text changes back to black when I set ReadOnly to true. I want to be able to mimic the disabled text box visually.

So I set the "enabled" property of the textbox to "false"(because I want it to display, not receive input) and then choose the background colour to be white. In the form designer, the text colour is black, which is what I want.But when I start debugging, the text becomes the colour of the form. How can I make the font black?

It's setup to accept a maximum of 500 characters (10 lines of 50). First of all, since it's size is fixed, how can I remove the right bar on the left as im not using it (the scrolling bar).
#2, once a user click on a button, I disable the textbox and display the text. I can set the background color, however it looks like when the textbox is disabled, text is gray and can't be changed. A fix I found is to use a label and hide the textbox, but are there any easier way ?

I just pasted a datagridview on the form , added a button and named its text as "ADD". I even changed the UseColumnTextForButton

I'm having an odd problem when making a form visible and not visible and it not continuing to function. Here is what I have happening. I have a main form (frmMain) that is an MDIParent. On this form I have a menu to open a second form (frmCalculate) and populate a listview from Items in the database.
As I click or select items in the listview on frmCalculate the tag is read and data is pulled based on the id stored in that tag and fills in various fields on the form. This works great. However, I also have a context menu attached to the listview that allows me to perform a "what if" scenerio on the items I am calculating. When I select this menu, I hide the frmCalculate and open the frmWhatIf form where I can mess around with values on the item I had hilighted in the listview on frmCalculate. Nothing is pulled from or written back to the database here, all the information is filled in from fields on frmCalculate. It just allows me to look at rising costs and how they will affect my margins.... anyway.
If I then close frmWhatIf, it brings my frmCalculate back by setting its visible propery to true (never closed frmCalculate, just hid it). At this point if I click an item in the listview I get an exception for a null reference. IF however I never hide frmCalculate, I can open and close frmWhatIF without ever having an issue. Why do I lose the functionality to select items just by hiding and unhiding the form? As a test I added two menus to the toolbar on frmMain one called hide and one called show. I then opened frmCalculate with original menu item to populate the listview and selected a few items to test that it was working and then using the hide menu I made the form invisible and the show button to bring it back. This yielded the same exception so without even opening frmWhatIf the problem still occurs.

My problem is ComboBox, with the text of the first item longer than the combo - I don't see the text from the start, I see the end of the text. I wanna see text from the start. I've tried 'SelectionStart' property set to 0, but it has nothing to do with my problem - it only sets where from text is selected.

I can make the lights randomly flash using a randomGenerator and a Select case statement. However, the code is very long. There are 67 lights on this tree and the code is 71 pages long. There has to be an easier way to do this. So far I have tried the following with two images of lights just to see if it would work and it does not work:

View 6 RepliesI was thinking of adding a simple bandwidth monitor to a console application and I was wondering if it would be possible to keep a line in the console window visible at all times. I could set something up manually to pass new console output into a method that would get the contents of the console, clear the console, add the bandwidth data on the first row, then rewrite each line of previous information back to the console, etc.. but that seems like a really hacky way to go about it, and I'd be limited to the amount of rows visible at once in the console window (no scrolling).

I attached a picture of how my project should look and what the labels are. There are a total of 12 books and 4 different age groups. In each age group there are 3 books. There is also a previous and next books button which will show the next book in that age group. I want to make it so that previous button is disabled when it is on the first book of each age group and so that the next book button is disabled when it is at the last book. The only issue that I am having is that after the button is disabled it is not enabled again after. Here is my full code for this part as of now. As you can see I made it so that everytime I click on a new age group the previous button is disabled initially.

In a form, when I cut a control (a label) which has an event attached to it (click event), i noticed that the event attached to it doesnt work anymore when you paste it (the label I cut).
View 1 RepliesI am trying to assign a keyboard shortcut to a macro but "Press shortcut keys" textbox does not accept input. The "Remove" and "Assign" buttons are disabled. I have a command highlighted and I've tried in all the available "Keyboard Mapping Schemes". I've noticed that on some of the samples on "Modifying Keyboard Shortcuts" there were buttons for creating new mapping schemes. I'm assuming those are a visual studio version prior to mine - maybe 2003. Mine only contains the reset button.
