May 4, 2011I have a javascript code that will output text in a separate textbox. Id like to try and do the same thing in my application now. Basically what I want to be able to do is type in a phone number and when the area code is entered to have it display the state.

Aug 10, 2009I dynamically create buttons on a form and use the button text as ids so that I can pass that to an SQL query to pull saved data about that button when necessary, but I also use an image over buttons that have information saved about them. What I need to know is how do I keep the text on the button from appearing when there is an image assigned to that button? By default vb.net shows both the text and the image and no TextImageRelation values allow for the image to take precedence. I tried changing the text color to transparent, but the outline of the text is still visible through the image. Is there anyway to keep the text value as it is but just show the image on the button?

Text Not Being Entered In Box That Has Focus
Oct 26, 2011I have a few instances of a user control that has just a TextBox to search for items. The cursor is in one uc TextBox but the text I type appears in another uc TextBox. How can this be possible. Notice the cursor in model number, but the text is in upc.

I don't have to save it with a filename and a path location. Just like this forum, which everytime you post and reply to a thread, you will have to enter your message in a certain workspace and after you submit, it will save within the control so everytime you open your thread you will see the messages. Block All Special Characters Entered In A Text Box?
Sep 26, 2011I have a text box where users will enter 4 digits that are ONLY numbers 0-9. I have blocked all letters and less than 4 or greater than 4 digits. But, for example if I enter 10.0, it will throw an exception, due to incorrect math used later in the prog. So how can I block the use of a (.) or any special character for that matter! I am using specific msgboxes to let the user know what isn't allowed, and would like to do the same for special characters.
What I have so far:

Mar 28, 2009I'm building an app that does calculations (in dollar amounts). I want to buildin a constraint that says the value entered into text box must be greater than 0. If the user does not follow this rule, I want them to get an error message.I have the calculations built and the error message, but not the constraint statement i.e. if users enter negative numbers the ouput is negative, which in the context of this app makes no sense. how a statement that would require the value entered into a text box to greater than a value.

Jun 6, 2011I have this program I'm working on, and I was wondering if it was possible to disable/enable TextBoxes when specific words are wrtten. I tried doing this, but it errored. I'm a new programmer to VB, I just started a month ago, and I'm doing this for fun.

I also want it so that you don't have to press a button to identify if it is the right text, so it could "scan" automatically.
Focus Moves To Next Textbox When Any Text Entered
Oct 22, 2010I'm working on an application to write reports for the work I do. I have a Grid filled with Textboxes inside a Scrollviewer to input data for the report. I am using the arrow keys to navigate around the grid. The focus moves to the expected Textbox when the arrow keys are pressed but if I press any other key it is immediately followed by a Tab to the next Textbox. Even a Tab is followed by another Tab. Following is the code I use for the navigation.

Dec 8, 2009I have a program in which a user enters a sentence in English into a text box, then the sentence is translated into French and German based on words in an array of structures that gets its values from a text file. I have almost all of the program written, but I am a bit confused on how to get VB to get the English words that are entered into the text box separately so they can be translated individually and the value returned. Jan 6, 2011I am building a vb.net application with VS2010. The aim of the application is to change sln. files from VS2005/2008 versions into VS2010.I am using a Form with 2 text boxes and 2 buttons. When I click the 1st button it reveals the sln file in the text box. Then i have a 'convert' button that I want to use to 'convert' the file that appears in the first text box. I have come quite far with the source code but am just a bit puzzled as to how i can retrieve the VS2005 sln files and to get the 'convert' button to display the text in the 2nd text box.[code]

Oct 8, 2010everyone! I've been at this for a while, and I'm not sure how this issue can be resolved:I'm working on a project in VB.Net, and I have a form with a rich text box. I have a groupbox with 4 radio buttons inside that are intended to change the font color of the text. Coincidentally, I have to repeat this same functionality for a 2nd set of radio buttons that would change the text font family.
At any rate what I've only been able to do is the following to successfully change the font color of whatever text I highlight in the rich text box:

Is there a way that I could write a sub (I'm assuming I would use a sub, since I don't think I need to return anything, thus eliminating the use of a function) that would handle the action of changing the selected text color in the rich text box without having to use a separate sub for each radio button? Mind you, per my teacher's specs, she doesn't use a button handler for any of this.
