Enable TextBoxes When Specific Text Is Entered?

I have this program I'm working on, and I was wondering if it was possible to disable/enable TextBoxes when specific words are wrtten. I tried doing this, but it errored. I'm a new programmer to VB, I just started a month ago, and I'm doing this for fun.
If TextBox1.Text = "Shutdown" then TextBox2.Enabled = True
I also want it so that you don't have to press a button to identify if it is the right text, so it could "scan" automatically.

I am trying 2 enable my button when text is entered in a textbox. i have tried this but it isnt working,

the button is AddItems, and the textbox is tb1.

i have written my code to to insert data that has been entered into my textboxes n my form into my access database. i am gettin an error message saying: OLEDBEXEPTION OCCURED...Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement.

i have two textboxes where a numeric value will get entered into both, these values will then be taken and the first value divided by the second value. The problem i am having is that if for example the first value is 11 and the second value is 10, when i divide 11 by 10 the result is 1. I have tried setting the output format to have 2 decimal places but it still displays 1 instead of 1.1. [Code]

I have a simple WinForm that is using a Tab Control to simplify data entry. The very last page has a text box that allows the user to "set a name" for the file. I really want to simplify this and suggest how the file should be named. What I want
is for when the tab page is entered (consider that generically) that the text box is pre-populted with a name.
This code will do what I want, but only the first time the tab page is entered. what I am apparently missing or a better way to do this?

I populate a DataGridView during a sub routine. Later in my code I have a RowEnter event for that DataGridView when the user is assessing it after it has been populated during the main procedure. However this RowEnter event gets fired while the DGV is being populate. I only want it to file AFTER its populated. Is it possible to disable this specific event while the DGV is being populated? I really want the user to have the ability to cursor up/down the DGV and see affects of the RowEnter Event. I know I can also use the CellEnter event but it does not have the same effect.

Now i called this function on the button click of my login form and passed the values of username and password textboxes as parameters to it. But the problem arising is that it is logging in by simply clicking the button irrespective of what is entered in the username and password textboxes.

I have 2 buttons on the form, Button A and button B.
I want to enable button A from 6am till 6pm from Monday to Friday and to disable button B during 6am until 6pm.
And I want to disable button A from 6.01pm till 11.59pm.
During saturday, only button B is enabled for the whole day.

Working on a project that contains a listView (populated from a database already) and several textboxes. What I am trying to do, and cannot figure out, is to program this so that when a user makes a selection in the listview, it hits a specific database, and based on certain values within that databse, the textboxes are populated with things such as name and address, etc..

I am writing a hangman type game and I am displaying the word to the user in a label as all *'s, but I cannot figure out how to have just one of the *'s changed in the label to the correct letter when the user inputs the correct letter into the text box and clicks the check letter button.Everything else in the program works perfectly, except for this part.[code]When I use the .Replace it changes all of the *'s to the correct selected letter.

I have a few instances of a user control that has just a TextBox to search for items. The cursor is in one uc TextBox but the text I type appears in another uc TextBox. How can this be possible. Notice the cursor in model number, but the text is in upc.

Is richtextbox can save a text within its control? What control in vb.net that could save the text being entered within its control paticularly, if any? I need somebody that could give me an idea on what control to use to save the text within the control. I'm not trying to save the text anywhere. I want to save it within the control. I don't have to save it with a filename and a path location. Just like this forum, which everytime you post and reply to a thread, you will have to enter your message in a certain workspace and after you submit, it will save within the control so everytime you open your thread you will see the messages. I have a text box where users will enter 4 digits that are ONLY numbers 0-9. I have blocked all letters and less than 4 or greater than 4 digits. But, for example if I enter 10.0, it will throw an exception, due to incorrect math used later in the prog. So how can I block the use of a (.) or any special character for that matter! I am using specific msgboxes to let the user know what isn't allowed, and would like to do the same for special characters.
What I have so far:
