Anyway, I managed to load and save the config profiles but I'm stuck on applying those settings to the game's .ini files. The main problem is finding the right string. Thief: Deadly Shadows .ini file has settings for xbox & PC. I only want to change the PC settings in DEFAULT.INI:

I want to change "ShowIntroMovies=False" under the "[PCStartup]" section when the user clicks "Apply Changes" on the main form.One way I could go about this is to look for "[PCStartup]" hold the line number it's on, then look for the "ShowIntroMovies" string under that line number. There are several instances in the game's .ini files where the same setting exists but they exists under different sections. So how would I find a specific occurrence of a string?
I have a datagridview in my project that is loaded with data from a SQL table when the form loads. One of the columns contains names of users in the database. I'm wondering what is the best way to the number of times a name appears in the column. I wonder if it is possible to find a specific row and specific columns in data base file (Access) . You see , I am using a DataGridView control to show only SOME of the columns (fields) of a table from an Access file . For example , lets say that in the DataGridView control I only show the following fields :Field1 , Field2 and Field3 .Now , when the user selects an entry in the DataGridView control , I want to insert the text from Field4 into a text box on the form .

I am creating a class that searches a binary file for a specific customer number. I am using a binary search that keeps on slicing the file in half until I find the customer number while is sorted. Once it finds it I am positioning it at the first instance of that Customer number as there can be multiple records with the same Cus Number.
Now here is my question. I now need to loop through this Customers records and do some data base searches. Since I want to make my class as generic as possible what should I pass back to the calling class? An Array with all their records. If I do this I have to loop twice, once in the class and once when it passes the array bac to the original calling class?

I have a text file I'm trying to pull specific data from to make a report in excel and am wanting to know if my code can be improved or if I have something wrong. If it's apparent to anyone that I should be doing something elThis code does work but, very slow. These reports take up to 20 minutes for about 100 files so I am wanting to decrease the time somehow. I have attached the whole sub in a text file, it's about 900 lines long so don't think I should post all of it. Inside this while loop, I am checking numerous lines to see what they hold and extract specific items. First I verify it's a interface by checking for "line protocol".

status.bat launches script to check license availbilty on the server and write it to report.txt ... by launching just wpis_v3.bat it works . report is generated with all information about licenses . But when I launch from VB icon - report file is generate but is total empty . I observed that with any bat which contains >> VB doesn't write into file. Is there other way to acchive it ? I would like that VB will show only specific lines from this report.txt - which contain string : "Site" and other "Client" .

View 4 RepliesBasically, every time an entry is made - all of the proper data gets put out to a central Listings.txt file and then a specific .txt file for that area. When the user enters the recall form, they can view the listings for all or whichever area they've selected. That works quite fine. However! We also need to include a summary of how many are in each section. Not thinking properly, I started to do this with a counter - until I realized that a counter will lose its value once the program shuts down. My current idea is to count the number of lines in the text file (it outputs 8 lines per listing, so everything would be in values of 8) and then divide that by 8 - but after some searching I haven't been able to find a piece of code that will allow me to get an integer that relates to the amount of individual lines in the file.
