Find Specific Occurance Of String In File?

I'm developing a program to tweak the settings of the Thief: Deadly Shadows video game.The tweaker program is designed to load and configuration profiles so the ttlg/T3Ed Guild community can share tweaks with each other and then apply those setting to the game's ini files. Anyway, I managed to load and save the config profiles but I'm stuck on applying those settings to the game's .ini files. The main problem is finding the right string. Thief: Deadly Shadows .ini file has settings for xbox & PC. I only want to change the PC settings in DEFAULT.INI:

ShowIntroMovies=True
ForceCopyFromHardDrive=False
ShortIntroMovies=d:content 3VideoTextureseidos-logo.bik; . . . etc.
GameStartFiles=d:MediaFont12.xpr, . . . etc.[code]....
I want to change "ShowIntroMovies=False" under the "[PCStartup]" section when the user clicks "Apply Changes" on the main form.One way I could go about this is to look for "[PCStartup]" hold the line number it's on, then look for the "ShowIntroMovies" string under that line number. There are several instances in the game's .ini files where the same setting exists but they exists under different sections. So how would I find a specific occurrence of a string?

I have an HTML string and in that string are certain variables that I need to replace with database values. The variable names are dynamic but all begin with the characters "@@" (just two ampersands, no quotes). Is there a way to get all the words in a string that start with "@@"? I'm assuming you would use regular expressions, but not sure how to begin.

I'm having a problem recently, a logical issue so hard to determine various examples.I need the text that is inserted in textbox, which has been altered or modified or twisted to have a proper format through line accordance and constant white spaces etc. And some cases I stuck at defining the If statement within the loop. Here's an example of a text I'm trying to reformat.[code]I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate version with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. I have a program that will read a text file and put information from the text file into multiple text boxes. What I am trying to do now is be able to change the values in the textboxes and be able to write the specifc changes back to the text file. One way I though of doing that was using a while loop and copy the lines of the text file to another text file, then when it finds the line that has the specific change from the text box, make the change and continue writing the line until it reaches the end of the file. Then I was going to copy the file and overwrite the original, escientally making the change to the new file. Right now it will make the new file but will just make a blank text file. I think the problem is in the while loop statement but I am not sure. Here is the code below:

What is the best and fastest way to find the exact location(Drive/Folder) of a specific file, without scanning the whole drive. Right now, I am using those two instructions to locate EXCEL.EXE so I can properly call it with a shell command.[code]It is quite a long process, and I have to deal with some access denied folder like System Volume Information. There's an INI file that I want to access and read information from. This is the complete content of the INI file in question: http:[url]....I believe it is because of the [ ] tags in that INI file. Because they work if I remove the tags.My program has a bunch of comboboxes, trackbars and checkboxes. These items will be filled by the information taken from the INI file.For instance, ini file has these lines;
bCrosshairEnabled=1
bDoDepthOfField=0
bFXAAEnabled=1[code]...
Example: I want the checkbox8 in my form to get checked if bFXAAEnabled has a value of 1 or unchecked if it is 0.

I've got an application that passes commands to a terminal window and saves all the output to a text file Here is one of the commands my application passes to the terminal

The output of which is
"HostA has address Y.Y.Y.Y"
this along with a whole bunch of other text is saved to a text file...my question is how do I find the sting "HostA has address Y.Y.Y.Y" in that text file and then extract the IP address and assign it as a string variable?

status.bat launches script to check license availbilty on the server and write it to report.txt ... by launching just wpis_v3.bat it works . report is generated with all information about licenses . But when I launch from VB icon - report file is generate but is total empty . I observed that with any bat which contains >> VB doesn't write into file. Is there other way to acchive it ? I would like that VB will show only specific lines from this report.txt - which contain string : "Site" and other "Client" .

I have a huge .txt file which contains X & Y data seperated by serialization. Each serialization contains 1K x and y data points, the text file is about lines 1,340,000 long. Sometimes I need to go into the .txt file and find certain sets of data so I can plot and overlay them which gets tedious. I am going to write an application that I can just write the serialization into a text box on a form and and it will seach all of the txt files for the right data, put them into arrays, and then load them up into excel. My question is how would I search the .txt file for the correct serialization? Would I first read it into an array and then try and split it that way, or is there a way to just open the .txt file and search for the serialization without putting it into an array first?

I have to find a string in a huge text file ( ~ 50MB) and then replace it.Since it's quite huge I tend to open the file and then read line by line, and then replace the necessary line(s) (rather than "readall" the file of course).My question is how to replace the whole line?Let's say I found the line that should be replaced . I know I can create a copy file and copy all lines into there ... but I'd prefer to replace the line in the original file rather than creating a copy instance.

I have a little question about txt-files...This is the case: I am going to make a small software for editing particular parts in text files, so you don't have to do it by hand. In this program, i need to find several words in a text file and retrieve the text or number that is after the the "="-sign, and then replace that info. Then, I want to use the information it retrieves to add some text in the end of the file.
P.S. There are 36 differet words to search for, and some of them will occur in several places, so i want the data from those words that occur several times in an array. And the data i want to retrieve is AFTER the searchword and a "=", so i dont want the searchword or the equals-sign included. Can someone explain to me how to do this?

I've been getting this error when I try and use my model container:
No connection string named 'PFModelContainer' could be found in the application config file.
I have my edmx file in a separate project. I checked the app.config file and my model was there, and I also put it in my main project app.config file. Still doesn't work. Here's the connection string:

I would like to step through each *.txt file in a given directory, open it, find and replace all, perhaps a thousand, occurances of a given string (e.g. "00/00/00"), then close and save file, and step to next one in the directory to do the same find and replace. I've been looking at filestream classes and regular expressions but don't see a clear way to do this.

i'm trying to make a program that searches for a specific file in a specific file, so when the program loads it "writes" in checked list box the names of the drives installed to the computer, but what i want to do is: when the user checks the box, i want it to search for the file in that drive, but i don't know how to do it...

I wonder if it is possible to find a specific row and specific columns in data base file (Access) . You see , I am using a DataGridView control to show only SOME of the columns (fields) of a table from an Access file . For example , lets say that in the DataGridView control I only show the following fields :Field1 , Field2 and Field3 .Now , when the user selects an entry in the DataGridView control , I want to insert the text from Field4 into a text box on the form .
The problem , however , is that I don't know how to get the specific row in the data base file and also I don't know how to get the text in column (field) Field4 of that row .One thing that might be important is that the index of the row in the data base file is not necessarily the same with the index of the current row in the DataGridView control . This is because in the DataGridView control the rows are order by the contents in the ID Field .ol .

I have a VBS script that allows me to do a recursive search through a specific registry key to find a key value in multiple of the key directories. And unfortunately it dosn't want to work properly with vb.net in my visual studio even when i try to make the syntax changes
