I am trying 2 enable my button when text is entered in a textbox. i have tried this but it isnt working,

the button is AddItems, and the textbox is tb1.
I want to allow the user to enable or disable a textbox by clicking either a button (enable) or the reverse. (disable) if the user clicks the enable button the textbox should receive the focus.

View 1 RepliesI'm working on an application to write reports for the work I do. I have a Grid filled with Textboxes inside a Scrollviewer to input data for the report. I am using the arrow keys to navigate around the grid. The focus moves to the expected Textbox when the arrow keys are pressed but if I press any other key it is immediately followed by a Tab to the next Textbox. Even a Tab is followed by another Tab. I am working in VB 2008 and I have a textbox on a form that is used to enter a parcel number. I can enter the number in a 15 character string such as 12345678...... and it works just fine. The parcel number in real life contains dashes to make it easier to read, decipher, etc. so it looks like 12-3-45-67....... Under the textchanged subroutine for the textbox I have a case statement set up that checks the length of the parcel number as it is entered and inserts the dash accordingly.

I am using the MaskedTextBox and I am wanting to check for the following:
1. If the length of the text = 14 characters, enable the reset and start button
2. If the length of the text < 14 characters, enable the reset button, disable the start button
3. If the length of the text = 0 characters, disable both buttons
I am able to get most of it to work but when the length = 0, the start button is disabling like it's supposed to but the reset button is staying enabled. Any ideas? I have been looking at this code for hours and can't figure out why this is.

I want a textbox to have autocomplete. I want the completion to be based off of text that has been previously entered into the textbox. My method of saving seems to work but when i close the program and re run it the autocomplete suggestions arent there anymore.

Hi, I'm working on a program that reads text entered into a textbox and creates a list of items by separating entries by commas. Everything is working fine, except, because I am using an array to store the items in the list, I have a limited number of entries. This is only a problem because, as it is written currently, each comma counts as an individual entry. Therefore, users can enter ",,," for example, and it would use up 3 places in the array.
I'm looking for a way to check to make sure there is text after the comma before adding an entry. I've attempted to use the .substring command to check the character after, which works until it gets to the last character. Because there is no character after that, it will give an error.

But lately I've been venturing into possibilities of ideas in my head, and the recent idea is very simple, but I'm not sure how to approach it.
I have a main form that has options to open up other forms. And in one of those other forms, I want to make it so that you can enter text into a textbox, then click a button to "save" the textbox's content so that anytime the program starts, that previously saved content of the textbox will be the same.
