Is it possible to use a TextBox.Text variable as button text? I have a textbox with text that is entered by the application user, I want a buttons text to change depending on what the user enters in the textbox. Is this possible?

View 8 RepliesI am binding a textbox's text value setting to my a variable in my configuration file. I only consider the input from this textbox to be valid if it's an integer number bigger than 1. Right now what I was doing is letting the user write whatever he wanted in the box, and I'd only let him save the settings after calling a validation function. The problem seems to be that my binding variable in the Settings class seems to be being updated as soon as the textbox is being edited, and that's a behaviour i'd like to skip. How can I do this?

I need to get just the date and times from this list, and put them in variables. so that I'll end up with:
1) A string with a value as a date, which would be "10 January, 2011" for example: strDate1 would have the value of "10 January, 2011"
2) A start time, for example: strStartTime1 would have the value of 9:45
3) An end time, for example strEndTime1 would have the value of 18:00
LblPPG.Text = Val(TextBoxPP.Text) / (TextBoxQTY.Text)
This is the only way I know how to obtain the info I need for this equation but if generated again with no input from the textboxes I get an error. Is there anyway to bypass this if its generated a second time with no inputs?
I have a WinForms app with a multi-line textbox. This displays and retains (after loading from the DB) line break characters fine. However if I assign the TextBox.Text value to a string variable and then re-assign the variable back to the TextBox.Text property, the line break characters are lost and replaced with a square character (can't past them here as they just paste as a line break!)

I dynamically create buttons on a form and use the button text as ids so that I can pass that to an SQL query to pull saved data about that button when necessary, but I also use an image over buttons that have information saved about them. What I need to know is how do I keep the text on the button from appearing when there is an image assigned to that button? By default vb.net shows both the text and the image and no TextImageRelation values allow for the image to take precedence. I tried changing the text color to transparent, but the outline of the text is still visible through the image. Is there anyway to keep the text value as it is but just show the image on the button?

I'm trying to make it so that that user can enter predefined text by a button event (which will save them time typing). For example, they're writing a note in a textbox and then they click a 'Name" button which enters the name of the person into the text box at the place of the cursor, which will cut down on errors caused by typos.

Basically, How do i make it so when i click a BUTTON a text is written in a MULTILINE-TEXTBOX which i get to choose which bits of the text goes on which line.

But lately I've been venturing into possibilities of ideas in my head, and the recent idea is very simple, but I'm not sure how to approach it.
I have a main form that has options to open up other forms. And in one of those other forms, I want to make it so that you can enter text into a textbox, then click a button to "save" the textbox's content so that anytime the program starts, that previously saved content of the textbox will be the same.
And on top of that, I want to relate the textbox back to the code in the main form.
If I didn't explain that well enough, I'm working on making an extremely basic web-browser (a big jump from what I've been doing), and I added the option under a menustrip to open up Form5 to change the home-page.
