View 2 RepliesNow I'm creating at app in VB (Microsoft's, Visual Basic 2010) which will be in full screen but I want to know if I can put all my content in the centre of the screen. At the moment it's at the far top, left of the screen. When the screen size varies I want it will stay in the middle for all shapes and sizes. Like :
<div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 500px;"></div>
But this is for web pages using HTML and CSS.
how I can resize the pane and the content adjust to the new size?I've tried to do this Panel_Menu.Width = 200 but the content does not resize to the new size. i want to see the information of 0 ,0 0 on on on , 7,5 IRE but I want the new size of the panel see all the information but in a smaller size. the problem is that when the user presses a button panel must be made smaller but has all the content?

View 1 RepliesI am creating an application for a company and this CD will be distributed to hundreds of people. Many users will have different computer screen size and different screen settings such as their resolution set to 1024 x 728 and their monitor size 17" inches.
I noticed when I loaded the application on a different computer with different settings the application was to big for the screen and did not work. I notice that lot of other programs from microsoft resize their controls and text but never knew how they did it. How can I resize the form and control according to the user's setting.
I have a .rtf file, where I paste a row copied from excel, It looks fine (all content in each cell is wrapped and multiline). But When I open through VB.Net, i am not seeing the multiline rows which it is in .rtf file. It looks like the content comes out of the box and seams like the text coming out of the cell. Is there any way to display the content of a .rtf file in a Rich Text Box in VB.Net 2008. The below shown code used to get content from .rtf file and put in a Rich Text Box.[code]
View 1 Repliesi have a panel on a form and i have various controls inside the panel which i then shrink and enable the panels scrollbar so i can scroll through the controls. i am trying to get the exact size of the panel (unshrunk).for example the panel is 500 pixels in width and i then shrink the panel down to 300 pixels and enable the scrollbar. when i try to get the size of the panel using code like
panel1.size.width.tostring
it keeps telling me the panel is 300 pixels long ..which yes it is because i shrunk it down but i want to get the full size of the panel which should be 500.
I need my window to be an exact size. Isn't it possible to specify the exact size of the client area (the drawable part) as opposed to the entire form including the menu bars etc?
View 7 RepliesIm trying to resize a picturebox dynamically using .size.height and .size.width Its not working. This is the error message: "Expression is a value and therefore cannot be the target of an assignment." Never used height and width before. Been trying to find the answer, but it seems beyond me. Im sure its easy. Anyone know whats wrong with this?

View 3 RepliesI have created a GUI and have set my 'Form1' window to match that of my PC monitor ( 1280x1024 ). However when i move the project to work on my netbook, the screen on my netbook is only 1024x600 and half my GUI is missing. Is there any way i can adjust my settings so that my 'Form1' GUI will auto adjust and display in full on both screen when i move the project back and forth?

I've been developing an application, which consists of a bar to the bottom of the screen that I want to keep allways visible .
When i open a window and maximize it, it do not stay behind the bar but only to maximize the top of the bar!
VB.net / VisualStudio8 I have an application I've written that's been very stable. I had it set to exactly 1024x768 resolution, and to windowsstate=maximize (I think that's what it's always been).
I recently started coding to give the user the option to use the 1024x768 or to have the program detect the max size of the screen and use it.
That part works great... I'm using:
Dim MonitorWidth = Screen.PrimaryScreen.Bounds.Width
Dim MonitorHeight = Screen.PrimaryScreen.Bounds.Height
Me.Height = MonitorHeight
Me.Width = MonitorWidth
What I'm baffled by is that the application now won't get off the max screen size. It's using the max of the screen, even when I do not call the screen resizing code above. I'm trying to give the user the option of the application only taking up 1024x768 (and placed up to the top left) or maximizing the application using the full extents of the screen.
i was wondering i have a picture box which is controlld by the keyboard, and the picture is able to leave the form. i was wondering how to stop it leaving the form without knowing the exact size of the form and using multiple points on the edge of the form.
View 3 RepliesI am working with VB 2010, I need to print content that is in Forms, but to doit the way I requested, I need to print on A5 size, or the need to make PaperSize = A5...
View 2 RepliesI have an RTB. Actually it is a RichTextBoxPrintCtrl as per KB 146022 but I don't think that matters.
I am printing the contents of the RTB on a label. I have determined the appropriate margin settings to cause the contents of the RTB to print on the appropriate label (there are 4 per sheet). That all works.
But I want what the user sees on the screen as he types to match what prints. So if he types three lines of data he gets three lines on the label. Also, if scroll bars appear, that is a clue that he have filled up one label. By trial and error I got the size of the RTB just right using the default font (MS Sans Seriff 8.25).
But when I or the user changes font size, the on screen display no longer matches the printed label. The label prints properly but it is not an exact representation of what is on the screen.
Is there a way to fix this problem so the screen representation of the label is always correct even when the font changes.
I have an application in VB. In a single form are lots of labels with atleast 3 different sizes. What I want to do is, when I resize the form or maximize it, all of the labels and pictureboxes int the form are also going to be resized.
View 1 RepliesI'm currently in the process of making a dynamic signature generator, and I want to make the user be able to see what he would get... So I thought of putting a browse button and allowing them to load up a background image for their signature, but I also want the picturebox to resize according to that image's size. I need them to be the same size because of the image's X, Y are needed for the signature.
So I'm using this code for that:
LocalMousePosition = PictureBox1.PointToClient(Cursor.Position)
xy.Text = ("X=" & LocalMousePosition.X & "," & "Y= " & LocalMousePosition.Y)
It works fine, but it only gets the coordinates for the picturebox, not the actuall image, so I think if the picturebox is the same size as the picturebox it would get them just fine..
How do you lock the size of a form so the user can't resize it?

View 3 RepliesAs an update to a program I had made awhile back, I am trying to auto-resize the image to meet the requirements of my application without having to manually do it elsewhere. I already can adjust the quality/compression for disk storage, but I want to resize the image so I can save the quality of the image.
So how do I resize an image to 1920*1080. (I want to check the image first to make sure that the image is in fact larger then 1080p before I resize it.)
I'd really like the solution to work in a DLL project so that I can move my application from the Windows Forms to the WPF UI.
I want to resize the form size on button click event.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to figure out how to resize a form on load to fit to the user's screen. Many of my users are on laptops, or split screens between laptop and monitor..I remember in VB6, it was something like form.height = screen.height (or something of the sort)... but I can't find this functionality in VB.NET 2008. I'm also trying to wrap everything (multiple screens/forms) into one app, so I wanted to know if anyone was aware of any tutorials on form parent/child relationships... I don't want to keep opening and hiding forms individually without having them packaged in one work area....
