Return To Last Viewed Record After Clearing And Refilling Dataset
Sep 8, 2011
i have a dataset that i am viewing in detail view i can enter a new record and save it fine but the auto ID field enters as (-1) after i save it does not automatically change the (-1) to a number so i need to clear the dataset then refill it to give it a genuine number to prevent concurrency violations. my problem is after i refill the dataset it returns to the first record in the dataset not the last entered record, how do i get it to return to the last record.
I am filling 8 combo boxes on my form with data from my sql database. The data consist of a first and last name. My issue is after I load the combo boxes and then close the form how do I remove the data from the dataset? I have used the delete but when I do this and reopen the form it gives the followin error "Deleted row information cannot be accessed through the row." If I do not get rid of the data in the dataset, when I reopen the form it will duplicate the data already there. Here is the code that loads the data in the combo boxes:
I am binding a dataset (dsTest) with a table called "TempResult" to a datagrid (DatagridView1).The purpose of the datagrid is to display test labels (set elsewhere in the software) and to allow the user to enter results into an empty column titled results. To achieve this I've filled the dataset with the required test labels then added a column called "Result" with a default value of 0.00.The user can enter numbers into the "Result" column on the grid then click a button "ADD" to update the changes to the datatset,When I first open the form the datagrid shows the correct information and any changes made to the Result column are updated correctly - all is well.
Private Sub Add_Results() Dim ResultColumn As DataColumn Dim Rows As Integer Dim i As Integer
[code]....
If I close the form and open it up again (i.e. the user wants to add more results) the datagrid shows the results entered the last time the form was use and any changes made to the grid are not updated and the form won't work again until the software is reloaded.
I've written some code to try some thing. I don't get an error message. However, the record count return " zero". I declare some objects and make a connection. That all works fine. But no records.
Here's the code : Public Class Form1 Dim vtest As VariantType Dim cn As ADODB.Connection Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset Dim cmd As ADODB.Command [Code] .....
I'm very new to linq and I'm trying to come up with a linq query against a dataset that will return a max count value based on grouping records.[code]...
I have the following code which goes to the next available record to process.
Dim ds As New DataSet Dim strListType As String = Request.QueryString("ListType") Dim strStatusFilter As String = "" Select Case strListType
[Code]...
ObjClass.List is a method which is implemented to run a view and filter out data. I am ordering data on two columns due_dt and joined_dt. My problem is that it goes to the same record everytime if I didnt update my due date. I just want to go to the next record if am not updating it. Ho can I have the behaviour I want? what changes I can make?
It's been a good few years since I dabbled in VB and I'm very very rusty so any help would be great! What I'm looking to do is search an access database with user input and display the relevant record.I have a single table set up in an access database called school_info with the following fields and data:
I've linked the database to my new project, connected the database and added the 4 fields to my form. When I run it, the data shows in the boxes fine. The Tres and DfE fields are show in text boxes on the VB form, and the school and Type are show in labels. What I really want to do is be able to manually type in either a Tres or DfE number into the relevant text field and have the other labels auto populate with the relevant data that's stored in the database table.
I have customer/order form. When i delete a record from datagrid. It deletes the record but when i refresh the page or run the app again it comes because i think it just deletes temp from the grid not from the database. How do delete it from the database?[code]...
I have a dataset column which is "newsID".I want to get the value of it's last record so that I can use it as a default value or starting point to auto increment when I add a new record using the BindingNavigator.
Syntax error: Missing operand after 'top' operator.on line below dg.DataSource = dsResult.Tables("aTable").Select("RowID in (select top (100) [RowID] from aTable)")
I would like to get message, or true result when DataSet get new record (new row). But, I always get message as "no". [code] Button3 should return "Yes" as new record has been added, but does not? [code]
I have sucessfully written in excel VBA. The idea is to used the textbox1_change event to find a match in column A of table and once it finds the record, return the value of column B as label1.text. [code] In VB 2008 it's a lot different. I have set up the form the same way with the textbox and labels. I have made a dataset with (1) table (Table1) with (2) columns. Lets call them column A and Column B.I have added the dataset as a binding source to the form and also a table adapter. I also have a standardized query made for the dataset with a very simple SQL statement "SELECT Column A, Column B from Table1"..In order to get the user input to start searching Column A I assume under the textbox_change event i would put something like: [code] I'm getting a bunch of errors of course. Would somepne be able to give me some direction?
I am trying to call a SELECT query (with parameters) in Access from VB.Net 2008. I am able to call queries without parameters using the code below. The problems are (1) how to apply the parameters to procName and (2) how to get a dataset returned. I have looked around the net for hours and have found some examples. However, they are all for ms access action (update, delete, etc) queries using ExecuteNonQuery which does not return a dataset.
I am having the same problem <as this >> when i update my record in Access Database. It is successfully updated the record in the database. but the dataset in my project is still not updated. I am using vb 2005 to develop the application.
I have finally taken the plunge and am trying to get my head around VB 2010 after years of playing with VB6. I am using the free VB 2010 Express edition to get me started I am not an acomplished programmer in VB6 - being totally self taught from books, files , forums like this and internet searches so I am finding the transition to .NET syntax very painfull. Unfortunately,

I have a VS2010 VB application using a SQL Server 2008 R2 database. I display a record in a form and allow the user to update the record and save the changes. However, the changes don't make it to the table. Here's the sample code for the Save button click[code]...
Basically i have a form with a sqldataadapter and a dataset to retrieve and process data. from within the form i call another form which i use to retrieve data given some criteria which my user enter (on the secord form i also use a sqldataadapter and dataset.my problem is this: the use can select 1 or more records from the second form which he or she wants to process and the logic is to jump back to the first form and show only those records. note: the secord form (search data form) can display any number of records
At the moment when a user logs into my system it checks to see if a job exists, if so the records are put into a datagridview. However, if there are no jobs in the database I get an error.
