I am trying to use the .net connector within my program. I have got add, delete and update working however cannot get search to work. I created a small program that reads an access database 2007 I added the database from the data sources window, the fields I created were ID, Name, Transaction, email and Number. where number has a YES index(no duplicates) option. And they all are TEXT types. I'd like to make a little vb.net program that executes searches on a msaccess database. I use a textbox to get the value to search and than i'd like to search all the values that has the textbox value in the middle. So, the queries should look like this: SELECT Rec1, Rec2, Rec3 FROM Table1 WHERE Rec1 LIKE "*" & txtTextBox.Text & "*"...My problem is that i don't know how to pass the "*" character to my query, if I build a string that i pass to OleDbCommand(), the query returns nothing.

I am using Visual Basic 2010 express and Microsoft Access 2003. I have a database with 15 columns that I'm try to retrieve data from using a search button. [Code]
I'm attempting to setup a search function from a string a user types. (ex: "John Doe" or "Doe, John") I was thinking I would use Replace(SearchString, ",", "") to get rid of the commas the user might enter, and then use Split(SearchString, " ") to get all the words into an array. Once they're in the array I would execute a Stored Procedure on each of the terms and build a DataTable with the results.
Below is what I'm wanting to use for executing my stored procedure.
Now I'm thinking the "SearchString" I will assign while looping through my array of words... but this doesn't seem like the right way to do this. Maybe it is but I don't know how to append my next result to the previous DataTable either.
Is it possible with LINQ to SQL to search the entire database (obviously only the parts that are mapped in the .dbml file) for a string match? I'm trying to write a function that will take a string of "Search Term" and search all mapped entities and return a List(Of Object) that can contain a mixture of entities i.e. if I have a table "Foo" and table "Bar" and search for "wibble", if there is a row in "Foo" and one in "Bar" that contain "wibble" i would like to return a List(Of Object) that contains a "Foo" object and a "Bar" object.
I have a textbox for searching a database. When the text changes it runs a functioncFilter() and loads the records. It is set up to search different columns of a database, and it unfortunately only the first record matching is pulled from the database. Example: when the database contains two people (Bob Smith & Bob Smitt) the user can type the name in the search field. However When the user types Bob Smit it only returns Bob Smith and not both names in the database. I want this to act as a filter, dynamically changing the last with each additional letter typed in the search box. Below is my source code,
Public Sub cFilter() Dim myConnectionstring As String = ("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & My.Settings.dbLocation & ";Persist Security Info=True;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=BCFAdmin")

I created a small databse program, when I created the search field I wanted to display the results in "listbox" which I found some code that work perfectly
For each row in ds.tables("Tablename").rows
me.listbox1.items.add(row(1).tostring()) Next
but I also need to display "row 2" ACCORDING to the selected item from listbox in a textbox.
since the listbox is displaying the result of a search, it's been hard to find, how to do this?
