Now here is my problem! I want to have a form with a datagridview that displays all of the values I am querying. This shouldn't be a problem I guess. However, I have no idea how I can integrate two textboxes that can be used to enter the selection criteria (WHERE I_L.lfsnr LIKE '%1253') AND (l.sped_journal = '11-08')[/SIZE]. I have googled and read many threads so far but didn't stumble upon anything that would suit my needs and answer my question. Maybe it's just too elementary!? By the way, it is very important that the input of textbox1 ((WHERE I_L.lfsnr LIKE '%1253')) is linked to 3 positions in my SQL query to define the search criteria!
The worst thing is that I don't want to have a bindingnav displayed! I do not need any delete, update or add functions just the select option, however!
I wanted to select the row the user was last working on in the datagridview. So I created a setting to contain the row index. But then I had trouble using the form load event to select that row in my datagridview. It would always select the first row. I then moved the code into the DataBindingComplete event and it worked like a charm Example:

(1) I want to find out exactly what Binding.FormattingEnabled does.
(2) I type MSDN Binding.FormattingEnabled into google and go to the page.
(3) I read the 3, 'helpful', line description.
(4) I check out the bottom of the page for references.
(5) Never mind, non of those helped....
(6) I search google and find nobody seems to know what the property does in its entirety.
(7) I open up reflector and spend hours in a tangled web before being 70% sure I know what's going on.
(8) I carry on coding, but the 30% is niggling at me.
(9) Repeat 6 - 8 ad nauseum ...
There must be a better way!

ETA: The FormattingEnabled property was just an example, this is more of a general question. Using reflector, I'm about 94.314% sure of how it works..
Good, detailed resources or books for best-practices on exception handling? I am looking to dive into a much deeper understanding of it, and am finding it hard. All the books I see over .NET, ASP.NET, etc. place little emphasis or detail on exception handling.
I am currently testing out a 3-tier ASP.NET application, with a presentation layer, business logic layer, and data layer, and want to know more about exactly when to throw errors, when to catch them, what layer to do them in, etc.
I don't want a simple google search on ".NET exception handling" and then having you post the first couple of links. I would like you to respond if you have quality, known resources that you have used or have found.
I have not asked any questions in a long time because I have not been programming. But I am now back again with a question about Graphics.I want to make an object of a detailed checker. What I mean by detailed is there is going to be a big ellipse, then it is going to have a hole bunch of ellipses going around the edge to give it the checker affect.
How do I bind it all or make it all into one object and do something like a button has when clicked (Handles Button.Click) but with this object so I can move it.Is it possible to do this? If so can someone tell me how?

making a very simple detailed listview visually, not programatically. I have now added a listview to the form and added the columns I need. But how do I add rows to the list? View 3 RepliesI have written a program that queries an sql database displays it in a detailed listview, no problems so far. The only problem I am running in to is when I got to print the listview. When I do a regular printdocument.print() It prints out the listview exactly how I have it set up to do so. Which is a title , then column headers, next comes the listview, and then a total of some the columns. When I do a printpreview everything looks great. I'm using a search code using a textbox then it lists the record on a datagridview if search is successful. After the search, the user could select the record on the dgv in which later on can be edited or deleted. Edit and delete button is disabled when nothing is selected on the record. View 5 RepliesIm having a little trouble setting focus on a row in a datagridview. When a user presses the Enter button in my datagrid, a sub is called and the window is closed. Now next time i display the window, the selected cell has moved one row down. This is because when you press enter in a datagridview it jumps to the next line (wich i really dont want it to do). Now then in my forms shown event i placed the code: Datagrid.rows(0).selected = True Now this highligts the first row when the window is displayed, but when you press the down key, it jumps to the third row, because even though the first row is highlighted, its the second row who has focus (because it jumped their after pressing the enter key) How can i set the focus on a specifik row in the datagridview in vb2005?
