Selecting Items From A List And Displaying Related Info
Jun 11, 2011I have a table being imported into my VB application that has 3 columns. I have written code to import the table, and have written code to display on the first column (country) in a list view.
What I want to do now is have the user select / highlight an item in the list view, and have the third column (currency) related to that selected country appear in a text box when a button is clicked.
Here's the code I've written that successfully imports the data and displays the first column:

In database there are 3 fields. One for ID, second for int value and 3rd for country.If the text box value in database is associated with country US then it should show US in 2nd control ( can be text box or combo box) in UI. Else for anything else it should show London.

The form I am currently working on is where you pick food items and add them to a listbox which will essentially be the order form. I made a database in Access that has food-item info and linked it to the VB project.url...My combobox narrows down the food items according to what category is selected, i.e. "Lunch".Now.. is there any way I can select an item from my database records (right box) and add them to an empty listbox that I'll save to a txt file. The database box is called "FoodItemsDataGridView" but maybe I don't even refer to that, I have no idea..

May 16, 2009I have the following code to select records from an access table based on a date range. The user is required to select a week ending date (Saturday) from a datetimepicker field.The date field in access is formatted as short.The values in the database range from 12/04/2009 to 2/05/2009. When I select datetimepicker as 2/05/2009 (i.e. 2 May 2008), no rows are returned. Following is the resultant sql statement:
show: Select * FROM Work_Time WHERE WorkerID =1001 AND (WeekDate >=#26/04/2009# AND WeekDate <=#2/05/2009#)
However, if I select datetimepicker as 25/04/2009, the correct numbers of rows are returned. Following is the resultant sql statement:

Sep 13, 2009I'm currently attempting a project where I need to display a series of images from a database, in thumbnail form, then fullscreen when they are selected. Next/Back arrows will be used to navigate through different pages of images. These images will be across a number of categories each one with a different table in the database. It is very important that the user can change the images in the database.
Rather than have a number of different pages and each image designated to a picturebox, I was wondering how I could make it so the program just displays the next 6-8 images from the database in the same picture boxes, giving a message when the it reaches EOF, This way the number and order of the pictures can be changed just by changing the database.

Jan 20, 2009I want to be able to use this program to filter through a list of doctors, and based on what doctor you select, only show the patients who see that doctor.
Here is what I have so far, the database has a column with just the doctor names so I thought I should be able to filter it by that and show the patients, but none show up. I don't get an error and it seems to refresh, but nothing ends up in the schedule.

Actually I just realized I don't think I loaded the data from the database as the form loaded. I tried doing that, but get an error where I called for the data to be loaded. I added the code where I try loading the databases.

I now want to be able to display the record in another form, I've attempted this using the code below but it doesn't seem to work:

Database / ADO.net & Displaying Table Entries In A Listbox?
Jun 20, 2010I just starting coding in VB.net about two weeks ago so I'm still a begging and I learn best by seeing working code and then adapting it to my situation. That being said, I need help displaying table entries in a listbox. I've successfully created a database in my test application, added it to my Data Sources and used a drag / drop method to add Datagrid View & Details (labels & textboxes) to my application for testing purposes. Now I want to try and display table entries in a listbox.
Example Database:Table: Contact
- ContactID (autonumber) [primary key]
- FirstName (text 50 limit[code]....
Also is there any benefit or down side to creating a database in MS Access, create the relationships & tables, then attaching that database to my application or is it better to create the database in the application like I did in the example above by using the Add New - Service-Based Database option?
