I work for a somewhat large company.There are about 160 Windows XP Pro users. We are still using Microsoft Office 2000 for the most part.We have upgraded some users to Office 2003. We are not using Microsoft Exchange.I have to export every users' Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003 Contacts into an Excel or CSV file every 6 months as a way of backing the Outlook Address Contacts.Currently I am doing this by physically going to every pc and manually exporting the contacts.This is a large pain.I am trying to find out if I can use or create a Visual Basic 2008 Express program or script that will export the contacts from Outlook and save it as an Excel or CSV file.The name of the file should be the same as the computers net name.It should be saved in the same location, on the network, each time.I am new to programming and new to VB 2008 Express.I do not know or have any code to start with.

I have an application that is being used to automatically email a form that is filled in by the user when they simply click a cmdButton. I have been asked to add a functionality that I can't figure out. The users want to be able to attach another document, using an emply cell in Excel to hold the name and path of the document, that still only requires the pressing of my cmdButton. The code that is being used to initiate the auto-email is:
Sub Mail_List_1()
Answer = MsgBox("IMPORTANT! You must be online to email! Click ""OK"" to email now if you are online. Click ""Cancel"" to email later.", _

I'm trying to copy cells from Excel to a new mail message in Outlook. Excel and Outlook both open fine but it doesn't copy.
Im using the following code:
Dim content = xlWorkSheet.Range("A1:C21").Copy()
Dim oApp As Outlook._Application
oApp = New Outlook.Application()
[Code]....
This does not copy the cells. It simply displays an email with a body that says "true".
I am using the excel sheet to do other things which work fine, so the excel code works. Just having trouble copying the cells.

I'm using the following code to send an email from my vb.net web application.
Public Function SendMail(ByVal strTo As String, ByVal strFrom As String, _
ByVal strSubject As String, ByVal strBody As String) As String
Try
Dim SmtpServer As New SmtpClient()
Dim mail As New MailMessage()
SmtpServer.Credentials = New _
[Code] .....
It works fine when I use my personal live.co.uk email address as the strFrom value, or even a made-up email address. But when I use a different one (contact@mydomain.com), which is perfectly valid and working, I get the following error:
"The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: SMTP authentication is required."

I am currently using Outlook 2007 and Excel 2002 SP3 and VBA for OfficeUsing VBA, I want to copy a range from Excel, open a new email in Outlook and then past the range into the body of the email (rather than as an attachment) as a Bitmap (so that the report on the email looks exactly the same a the range that is copied from).I can do most of the above but putting the bitmap into the body of the email is neigh on impossible..I can get VBA to paste the range into an email but then it loses most of its fomatting and looks horrible. Thats why I'd rather put the bitmap into the body of the email.I'm guessing that there is no easy solution to this..

So this is a more refined version of a question I asked earlier. I have been trying to sort this out for quite a while. I found a site that makes sense, but I can't implement it for some reason. I just want to be able to copy information from excel (tables, charts, ranges, etc) into the body of an outlook email.

I have written a code in VB.NET using "Microsoft Outlook 11.0 Object Library" to create an appointment, task or contact in Outlook. Now the problem is once i create an appointment, task or contact from my VB.NET code and then if i open these item in outlook and modifies and save the content (like body of an appointment) then the lastmodification time of these item doesn't gets modified. It always shows the previous lastmodification time. This happens only for those item which got created from my VB.NET code.
I have tried realsing the COM object in my VB.NET Code.

I'm working on an application that takes certain outlook email messages, saved as text files, and loads data from them into a database. It would be better if I could read the messages from the inbox directly into my app without the user having to save them as text files. I've searched the web and every example I find is from 2003 or earlier and is using VB6. I'd like to read both Outlook and Outlook Express Inboxes. Can someone either provide me with the code to do this or a good "recent" link with a tutorial?

i was wondering if someone could give me the final explanation on what i might be doing wrong here.I spent a lot of time reading around the net and the forum about how to add Threading capabilities to a VB project.
Nos, i've got .NET 4 installed, and i've added the system.tsr and mscorlib.dll files as reference in, say, Excel 2007 (see screenshot).However, when i try to make a thread with anything as basic as "Dim Thread1 As System.Threading.Thread", i get a user-defined type not found error.Indeed, when i use the object browser to see what's in the System file, theres nothing remotely linked to any Threading, and in the mscorlib file, nothing under "Threading" either, just a few Thread related functions, but nothing defining a data type

I'm having a little difficulty sending mail using VB.Net (2003). I'm attempting to use the company mailhost, and the usual System.Mail methods to do the send, but i get blocked by the "Could not create CDO.Message" error. I've been on MSDN, and looked through the various threads on here, and they all point to a problem with the dll.
The trouble is, that this is not a consistent error. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It will work on one user's PC profile, but not another's on the same PC. It will send a mail for a particular user, and then 2 mins later fail to send the same mail. I've tried re-registering the dll anyway, and faffing about in the registry as per the MSDN recommendation, but no joy. And because it's so inconsistent it's proving pretty tricky to narrow down the cause.

My mailbox regularly gets emails from people wanting to promote their events. Usually the subject line looks like this:
fwd: come to *TMC* meeting this weekend, <5/19/2012 @ 1300 >
I need a script to read the date, then make an appointment on my outlook calendar, using that date, time and term (TMC) as the meeting title. So it should make an appointment on 5/19/2012 at 1pm, called "TMC meeting"All appointments are 2 hours by default.I used The identifiers "*" and "<>" as an example, and can be changed to be whatever, what is important is that the meeting gets on my calendar with the correct title.

een using excel extensively. In excel I use vlookup function to connect and retrieve data from other workbooks. I want to know how I can do it in VB. So far I have created a form.The form has say three text boxes viz (i) A unique Number (ii) Name (iii) Address. I want that when I write the unique number in the text box for unique number the other two text boxes i.e. of Name and of Address should be auto populated. I have also established and tested the connection with the access database file using ADO.NET. I do not know whether I need to write an SQL or LINQ query for this purpose or I should write some codes. What should i do it and how should i do it?

I have a function in VBA that I need to convert into VB.net:Sub Crossfunction(ByVal Array1 As Decimal, ByVal Array2 as Decimal) As Boolean
Dim C As Variant
Dim Above as boolean
Array1 = Array(1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
Array2 = Array(1, 4, 3, 7, 5, 8, 7, 2, 9)
[Code]...
Is this the correct method? And how can I convert the function and not get an error: Error 1 Value of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of Decimal)' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of System.Collections.Generic.List(Of Decimal)' when I redefine the Arrays as: ByVal Array1() as List(of Decimal),ByVal Array2() as List(of Decimal).

I am trying to essentially convert an Excel spreadsheet into a Windows Form. On the first worksheet I have setup an IF statement to work as a search function =IF(C10="","",VLOOKUP(C10,'Price List'!$A$2:$D$40008,2,FALSE)) to read a price list on a separate worksheet. It works by taking a partnumber then puts the description in the next column (description column) and then the price in the "price each" column then finally totalling the row based of the quantity selected (see below).[code]...

I have a vb.net function which uses oledb to create a spreadsheet, then treat it like a database, creating tables and inserting values. The function takes in a filename and a dataset, and returns the filename if it worked. The function works beautifully on my dev machine, but not other PCs. Below is my function, is there anything wrong with the code? EDIT: There are no errors being thrown, the resulting file doesn't contain any data.

I have an Excel VBA function that takes a number of optional parameters, including an optional Range:
Function DazBeta(A As Range, Z As Range, _
B As Integer, _
Optional Freq As Integer = 1, _
Optional c As Double = 0, _
Optional r As Range, _
Optional Pct As Boolean = True, _
Optional Label As Integer = 1)
I am translating to VB.NET, and it's the optional Range that is giving me grief because VB.NET does allow optional Ranges. Or rather, optional parameters must provide a default value. What is the recommended way to change the VB.NET function signature so that the code is callable from an Excel cell as a UDF? (The VB.NET implements a UDF, the assembly is registered as a COM server, and the Excel spreadsheet is told of this server and type library, allowing the VB.NET code to be called from an Excel spreadsheet cell.) I have other compilation problems, so I have not been able to explore this. I am thinking that accepting an optional Object (default value Nothing) might work and then I could cast the Object to a Range. Alternatively, if there were a default value that could be specified with an optional Range, that would work, too.

I'm attempting to use the VLookup function to look up a raw score and convert it using an excel worksheet. However, instead of returning the figure in the lookup location, its returning the value that i'm looking up. For example, i'm looking up the number 5, it should give me the value of 63 but instead of returning the value 5.
xcApp = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
Excel1.OpenBook("testbook.xls")
xcWS = CType(xcWB.Worksheets("SOMATIC"), Excel.Worksheet)
MsgBox(xcApp.WorksheetFunction.VLookup(5, xcWS.Range("A2:F12"), 1, False))
EDIT: The above code DOES work, but it does not work with the following code(returns number i'm sending). One thing I did notice, it doesn't seem to be looping through all the Subnames...I just get one result and there are 10 in the TEMP table.
Connect()
sel("Select * from Temp")
While dr.Read

I want to make an numerical integration method with takes in an analytic function and integrate it over a specific interval. For the numerical integration procedure I want to use some procedures in nr.com. The problem is that these are programmed in C++ and they uses functors to pass a function to the integration method. How can I do this in VB 2010?
I want to initialize the function (i.e. set a=1,b=0 for function y(x)=a*x+b) and then pass the function to the integration method. Then when the integration method call the function it only calls the function with one parameter (i.e. x since a,b is already set)
What is the best way to do this in VB2010?I want to make a general integration method where I can pass any single valued function and integration limits.
I have just started using VB, and from what I have found so far it seems like the tools you have is
- to us a delegate for the function
- to use a lambda expression for the function
- send a pointer/adressOf
- to create a function class/structure and submit this to the function
As for now I am most inclined to create a function-class. But I am not really sure how.F.ex. I make different classes for each "uniqe function" I want to integrate, but how can I pass them to the integration function when I need to specify the argument type in the integration-function-call?This seems like a basic problem which applies to many Math operations, so I think it would be very useful to clarify this.
