Jun 9, 2011Can't seem to find a way to make the text appearing in Msgboxs to be enlarged.
Tooltips appear to be the same font.

Mar 1, 2010I know that in WPF, FontSize = 1/96 of an inch (same as 1 pixel I think). Is the FontSize dimension the height, the width, or diagonal size of a character? I would guess it's the font height, but the Microsoft documentation doesn't really indicate what it is.
Also, is there an easy way to get the height and width of a font size?So it looks like the FontSize is the height, and the width can only be determined (without knowing the actual character) on monospaced fonts since proportional fonts have varying widths.
Get Selected FontName And FontSize?
Mar 16, 2012I've been trying to look for answers on how to do this, for days, but just couldn't find one. Maybe I don't know the keywords to look for. I hope someone can help me with this. Here's my problem. I'm trying to create a wordpad and I have two ComboBoxes (FontName & FontSize) and a RichTextBox. I'm trying to figure out how to get the FontName and FontSize of a SelectedText in the RichTextBox and be selected automatically in each ComboBoxes?

Conversion to Type Single is invalid So I tried to convert the string to Single, but with the same error. If I replace the "font_cbo_size.Text" to a number, it'll work fine.

Tooltips On Dynamic Controls?
Mar 16, 2011I have an Application that has a tab control on it. Depending what the end user clicks on, a new tab is created dynamically at runtime and I use a Template class to fill it with controls of what is needed for the type of tab being created. All works fine but where I have an issue is with the dynamic tooltip control. I added a tooltip to the main form and added code to access it in the Template Class. But I feel I have to rig it to get it to work and am looking for a more proper way to do it. I access the Tooltip1 on Form1 via Form1.components. However, "Components" in the Form1 designer code is declared Private and I change it to Public and it works fine but of course as I know when I make changes to the Design of Form1 it recreates the code and Chages the Componets back to Private. So I need a better way to access it or a better way to create Tooltips dynamically.

VS 2008 With Tooltips On DataGridView?
Aug 3, 2010I'm wanting to display tooltips on cells on a DataGridView.This works normally but in this case I have the DataGridView with enabled = false as I don't want the user to edit it but I do want the tooltips to be shown. If I set enabled = true then it's OK.

Jun 15, 2011I am developing an application in vb.net 2008 express edition that displays utility meter information. In one column of datagridview it shows the meter type in numeric code. When the user hovers over the the individual cells in meter type column i want to be able to show more descriptive info on what that numeric code actually means.
As an example the cell in datagridview will show 1254 the actual description for this numeric code is "Landis Gyr Focus AX SD 2S 7.2Kh"

Tooltips Get Hidden Behind Dropdown Lists?
Oct 8, 2009I have a label with a tooltip attribute for rollover effect. This works all great. However, it seems to get hidden behind any dropdown lists that are nearby. I have tried adjusting the z-index, without any luck. This issue does not appear in firefox, and I have not tested it in later versions of IE.
I realize this is probably due to IE6s poor css standards-compatibility, but how can I get around this?

The reason that I ask is because I need to store some data about each node in a treeview control, but I am already using the node's tag value to store an object that represents a "SuperToolTip" which is a control in DevComponent's DotNetBar utility. So I do not want the tooltip to be visible, since I am already displaying a more feature rich tooltip for each node. I guess I could store an array in the tag, that would contain the object that I needed, as well as the string info I need for the node as well.

VS 2010 - How To Get Tooltips On Column Header In TreeView
Nov 16, 2010I'm going through my company's program making sure that all icons have tooltips. We have a lot of grids with icons, but in case the settings for the tooltip to show up are not there, the column header should have the same tooltip as the icon. In regular grids I just click the column header, and then the properties for it show up in the bottom right corner in Visual Studio. However, we have some treeviews, and when I click on the column header of a column in the treeview, Tooltip is not among the properties I can edit. How to make a tooltip show up on such a column header?

ToolTips, Parameter Options, And Parameter Groups For New Code?
Dec 10, 2008One of the things that I think is really cool about VB.NET is how built-in functions and subs have extra help text in their ToolTips like "Expression: String expression to search for replace string." as well as the usual "Replace(...parameters...) as string" text. So are the pop up boxes with things like "CompareMethod.Binary" or "CompareMethod.Text." And finally I like how some functions and subs have different sets of parameters for the same routine. For example, New FileStream() starts with either a path (string) parameter or handle parameter, but none of the 15 sets of parameters contain both path and handle parameters. Is there a way that I can set up the classes and functions I write to use these things or do they only work with built in classes and functions? If there is a way, what are the proper names for them so I can look them up in the VS/VB documentation? I would be happy enough if someone would give me an example of them, but it would be nicer if I could go through the documentation and find out if there are other cool things that are related or near by.
