[code]when i put this code on my project message appears: Base class 'System.Windows.Forms.TreeView' specified for class 'myTVcontrol' cannot be different from the base class 'System.Windows.Forms.UserControl' of one of its other partial types.
I'm going through my company's program making sure that all icons have tooltips. We have a lot of grids with icons, but in case the settings for the tooltip to show up are not there, the column header should have the same tooltip as the icon. In regular grids I just click the column header, and then the properties for it show up in the bottom right corner in Visual Studio. However, we have some treeviews, and when I click on the column header of a column in the treeview, Tooltip is not among the properties I can edit. How to make a tooltip show up on such a column header?
I Just know how to Expand the Treeview when the user click on the checkbox, but how to uncheck all the child nodes and un-expand the treeview ?so if the treeview nodes is not clicked then unable to expand...
In my application i have a treeview. And i want to disable some nodes in the treeview. For example consider the below image...In this if i want to disable the "Supervisor Settings" node at run time, how can i do...? (i.e., either by index value or Text value)
I have this timer system set up so that every 2 seconds a new line of code is added to my RichTextBox. The problem is, when the box fills up the scrollbar doesn't automatically go down. Every time a new line is added by the program, the user has to scroll down manually to see it. I would think there would be a simple solution to this, but I'm a VB n00b,
sw.WriteLine("attributes") For i = 0 To noatts - 1 sw.WriteLine(attName(i)) Next
This is creating weird results though.

Anyone know why could that be? In other parts of the file writeline works well. It only creates extra lines on that specific section. Btw: the file looks good if viewing by notepad, the extra lines appear when viewing in wordpad. Apparently that matters because when I reuse that file to read some values in my program, it crashes cause it reads those empty lines instead of the attributes.
The sample below does what I want it to do and that is once I've filled the maskedtextbox and press enter it goes and does stuff. However, because the maskedtextbox is full I get an annoying 'beep'. So I figured I'd just use the tab key, I changed theChrW(Keys.Return) to ChrW(Keys.Tab) but it doesn't fall through, it just changes focus to the next maskedtextbox that I have. Is there a way to lose the beep? Or how do I get the tab key to fall through?
So i wrote a script which does a few things and richtextbox2 is updated as follows:
a = 27,130,000,000 b = 2,930,000,000 c = 4,290,000,000
Problem is, when i copy the contents of richtextbox2 to the clipboard using "clipboard.settext(richtextbox2.text)" and then open up note page, and paste the clipboard contents, it is wrapped wrongly and i get the following in note pad:"a = 27,130,000,000 b = 2,930,000,000 c = 4,290,000,000"
I am using "system.envoronment.newline" in my code to start a new line.
When I am editing VB code inside a .aspx file in Visual Studio 2010, my code is automatically indented in a bizarre way. I have searched through the options and can't find anything that fixes this. [I thought unchecking Pretty listing (reformatting) of code in Text Editor -> Basic -> VB Specific would for sure do the trick but it didn't]Example -- here is the beginning of a .aspx page:
<%@ Page EnableSessionState="True" Language="VB" Strict="true" %> <script language="VB" runat="Server"> Dim foo As String
If I go to the end of the "Dim foo" line and hit it will indent. If I fix the indentation, the next line will do the same thing.
I am using Visual Basic 2008. However, the Report a Bug function does not work, which in itself is a major bug. While I am typing in the code editor, these annoying popups keep popping up and completely blocking my view of the code. I have no idea what these popups are showing and do not need them. I have not been able to find any way of turning them off. I consider this another major bug.
I have an Application that has a tab control on it. Depending what the end user clicks on, a new tab is created dynamically at runtime and I use a Template class to fill it with controls of what is needed for the type of tab being created. All works fine but where I have an issue is with the dynamic tooltip control. I added a tooltip to the main form and added code to access it in the Template Class. But I feel I have to rig it to get it to work and am looking for a more proper way to do it. I access the Tooltip1 on Form1 via Form1.components. However, "Components" in the Form1 designer code is declared Private and I change it to Public and it works fine but of course as I know when I make changes to the Design of Form1 it recreates the code and Chages the Componets back to Private. So I need a better way to access it or a better way to create Tooltips dynamically.
Code: '---CreateTab Class--- a portion of code for example CreateTab(ByRef tpNew As TabPage) Dim btnSelect = New System.Windows.Forms.Button
I'm wanting to display tooltips on cells on a DataGridView. This works normally but in this case I have the DataGridView with enabled = false as I don't want the user to edit it but I do want the tooltips to be shown. If I set enabled = true then it's OK.
I am developing an application in vb.net 2008 express edition that displays utility meter information. In one column of datagridview it shows the meter type in numeric code. When the user hovers over the the individual cells in meter type column i want to be able to show more descriptive info on what that numeric code actually means.
As an example the cell in datagridview will show 1254 the actual description for this numeric code is "Landis Gyr Focus AX SD 2S 7.2Kh"
Below is my code so far, every other aspect of application is working except for above.
Public Class Form3 Private Sub dgv1_CellMouseEnter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellEventArgs) Handles dgv1.CellMouseEnter
I have a label with a tooltip attribute for rollover effect. This works all great. However, it seems to get hidden behind any dropdown lists that are nearby. I have tried adjusting the z-index, without any luck. This issue does not appear in firefox, and I have not tested it in later versions of IE.
I realize this is probably due to IE6s poor css standards-compatibility, but how can I get around this?
All the tooltips in one of my apps stopped working. I checked the component; the settings are all the same as on another app that still works. what would cause tooltips to suddenly turn off?
Is it possible to make tooltips invisible in VB.NET 2005? The reason that I ask is because I need to store some data about each node in a treeview control, but I am already using the node's tag value to store an object that represents a "SuperToolTip" which is a control in DevComponent's DotNetBar utility. So I do not want the tooltip to be visible, since I am already displaying a more feature rich tooltip for each node. I guess I could store an array in the tag, that would contain the object that I needed, as well as the string info I need for the node as well.
I've just set up Visual studio 2003 on a new machine, and I'm not getting the tooltips appearing when I hover over variables in debug mode.Strangely enough, I've also just installed VB6 on the same machine, and I'm getting the same problem on there.
I have a combobox with a given width. It may occur that one row of the data is partially hidden (the combobox might be too narrow). I'd like to show the whole line by using a tooltip or right-click context menu.
Currently I can't find how to 'catch' the row that I'm currently holding on or passing over by mouse.
I cannot seem to figure out how to use a large icon (I'm assuming 64x64) in balloon tooltips, like when installing new hardware device drivers. I already have the icon resource added, and when I have it coded:
there I am using a ToolTip on a Label that I am using as a place holder, so the same Label is being recreated over and over in diferent locations each time the ToolTip Message is diferent. The problem is the mesages is all showing ap at the same time overlaping one another.
I am confused what will happen, when I disable a timer. Will it finish the process and then disable or will it immediately disable without completing process? for example
[Code]....
I want to run getMessage from somewhere else, so I need to disable timer during that time to be asured not to override anything and also before timer disable it should complete that function code.
I can't claim credit for this code but I think it's cool. It will show the entire contents of an item in a tooltip even when the columns are truncating it. Drop a tooltip and listview container on your form with the default name.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load ListView1.Clear() ListView1.View = View.Details [Code] .....
I am using a webBrowser control in vs 2008 to be used as a wiziwig editor to edit newsletters, everything works find but when I specify designmode = "On" -Me.webDESIGN.Document.DomDocument.designMode = "On" And try to load the webBrowser control with another newsletter, it comes up with this annoying message "This page has been modified Do you want to save changes". I need to somehow supress this message and don'twant to do anything, I' have already saved the page at this time. I tried the solution her
For some background please see the following thread where I just posted a solution that worked for me:[URL]..The issue involves the shifting of controls on a form when it is first being loaded (it may not necessarily happen in the Load event though). As I write in the first linked thread above.I have noticed it on a few projects -- all MDI -- but with no apparent rhyme or reason as to which controls get "afflicted". I've had it happen on labels, textboxes, pictureboxes, radio buttons, etc. Also the distance they shift is varied, as well as teh direction the move - sometimes different directions on the same form. There are no consistent properties that these controls share and I am positive that it is not a simple anchor issue. This is a true and serious bug and amazingly frustrating because there appeas to be nothing you can do or test to hack into the behavior and begin to debug it. Scrapping a solution and redoing it from scratch can seem like a viable answer it is this vexing.
My solution was to set the AutoScaleMode to None and the issue resolved itself immediately. Since many people come to this forum with Forms questions I thought it might be useful information -- at the very least it might get on the radar of some of teh answerers here in case a question pops up of this nature in the future.
