Found A Solution To An Annoying Bug With "shifting" Controls?

For some background please see the following thread where I just posted a solution that worked for me:[URL]..The issue involves the shifting of controls on a form when it is first being loaded (it may not necessarily happen in the Load event though). As I write in the first linked thread above.I have noticed it on a few projects -- all MDI -- but with no apparent rhyme or reason as to which controls get "afflicted". I've had it happen on labels, textboxes, pictureboxes, radio buttons, etc. Also the distance they shift is varied, as well as teh direction the move - sometimes different directions on the same form.There are no consistent properties that these controls share and I am positive that it is not a simple anchor issue. This is a true and serious bug and amazingly frustrating because there appeas to be nothing you can do or test to hack into the behavior and begin to debug it. Scrapping a solution and redoing it from scratch can seem like a viable answer it is this vexing.
My solution was to set the AutoScaleMode to None and the issue resolved itself immediately. Since many people come to this forum with Forms questions I thought it might be useful information -- at the very least it might get on the radar of some of teh answerers here in case a question pops up of this nature in the future.

I developed a VB Winforms application in VS2010 Pro on my Win7 x64 desktop computer. I also have VS2010 loaded on my Win7 x64 laptop and when I open the same solution the application's form controls are shifted out of alignment and appear slightly stretched horizontally. The VS IDE settings are identical on both computers. Any idea why the solution looks perfect in the IDE when on my desktop, but when opened in the IDE on my laptop, all the controls shift out of alignment horizontally

However when converting some algorithms I've run into a problem concerning bit shifting.How I understand it, the problem lies in the size mask VB enforces on Integer types (as explained Here). I am writing a programme for Payment calculations.I have four textboxes txtPaymentDue, txtDiscount, txtBalancePaymentDue, txtAmountPaid, txtChange
PaymentDue, BalancePaymentDue and Change are calculated by the programme.My requirements are:
1) when i enter Discount in txtDiscount on EnterKeyPress cursor should go to txtBalancePaymentDue wherein it will display the calculated BalancePaymentDue and on next EnterKeyPress the cursor should go to the txtAmountPaid and finally on EnterKeyPress the cursor should move to txtChange.
2) When I enter a digit in txtDiscount it should take it as right to left sequence and it should allow the insersion of digits .......like if i want to type 36.45 then if i type 5 the texbox should immediately look like this 00.05 when i type next digit it should look like this 00.45 likewise when i type next digit it should display 06.45 and finally 36.45.

The problem is that, when you delete MM value from the MaskedTextBox, it is shifting remaining dd/yyyy values to left in the place of deleted MM.So we would like to know how to stop shifting of dd/yyyy to left when some data is deleted from the control.

Can anyone demonstrate with an example how to shift the position of a datacolumn in a specific position after it is added at the end of a datatable.For example lets say I have a datatable with 9 columns and 5 rows. Now I added a 10th column. However I need this new column as the 5th column which requires shifting. How do I perform this shifting?

I have this timer system set up so that every 2 seconds a new line of code is added to my RichTextBox. The problem is, when the box fills up the scrollbar doesn't automatically go down. Every time a new line is added by the program, the user has to scroll down manually to see it. I would think there would be a simple solution to this, but I'm a VB n00b,

This is creating weird results though.

Anyone know why could that be? In other parts of the file writeline works well. It only creates extra lines on that specific section. Btw: the file looks good if viewing by notepad, the extra lines appear when viewing in wordpad. Apparently that matters because when I reuse that file to read some values in my program, it crashes cause it reads those empty lines instead of the attributes.

The sample below does what I want it to do and that is once I've filled the maskedtextbox and press enter it goes and does stuff. However, because the maskedtextbox is full I get an annoying 'beep'. So I figured I'd just use the tab key, I changed theChrW(Keys.Return) to ChrW(Keys.Tab) but it doesn't fall through, it just changes focus to the next maskedtextbox that I have. Is there a way to lose the beep? Or how do I get the tab key to fall through?

So i wrote a script which does a few things and richtextbox2 is updated as follows:
a = 27,130,000,000
b = 2,930,000,000
c = 4,290,000,000
Problem is, when i copy the contents of richtextbox2 to the clipboard using "clipboard.settext(richtextbox2.text)" and then open up note page, and paste the clipboard contents, it is wrapped wrongly and i get the following in note pad:"a = 27,130,000,000 b = 2,930,000,000 c = 4,290,000,000"
I am using "system.envoronment.newline" in my code to start a new line.

When I am editing VB code inside a .aspx file in Visual Studio 2010, my code is automatically indented in a bizarre way. I have searched through the options and can't find anything that fixes this. [I thought unchecking Pretty listing (reformatting) of code in Text Editor -> Basic -> VB Specific would for sure do the trick but it didn't]Example -- here is the beginning of a .aspx page:

If I go to the end of the "Dim foo" line and hit it will indent. If I fix the indentation, the next line will do the same thing.

I am using Visual Basic 2008. However, the Report a Bug function does not work, which in itself is a major bug.While I am typing in the code editor, these annoying popups keep popping up and completely blocking my view of the code. I have no idea what these popups are showing and do not need them. I have not been able to find any way of turning them off. I consider this another major bug.

I am using a webBrowser control in vs 2008 to be used as a wiziwig editor to edit newsletters, everything works find but when I specify designmode = "On" -Me.webDESIGN.Document.DomDocument.designMode = "On" And try to load the webBrowser control with another newsletter, it comes up with this annoying message "This page has been modified Do you want to save changes". When designing a user interface, one should be conscious of how many individual controls are required to implement the functionality. In some cases an initial design may begin with many buttons or textboxes (for example) but then further review of
the actual required functionality allows for a reduction in the number of unique controls.
But other times, there isn't a better way (which will still make sense to the user of the application) then to have a series of many repeated controls. So in the cases where one can be certain that the best UI implementation for an application will require the use of multiple copies of a given control, then it often becomes necessary to maintain some method of managing all of those controls at various points
throughout the application. Doing so typically requires that one build up some collection of controls which can then be accessed by index in order to work with any given control; but this can lead to a lot of clutter in the code file which handles these control's events. For instance there will be some kind of collection declaration, some recursive routine to find all of the controls of interest, and then any number of event handler methods with long lists of Handles clauses, or additional code loops to wire up the event handling for each control.
Purpose Since most of this functionality could be considered a requirement regardless of the type of control being managed, or its required functionality, it may make sense to wrap all of the control management functionality into a single class. And since our first requirement is a collection of controls, then a base collection class could be the perfect starting point for our control manager. There are a number of existing thread around this topic, with some recent (at the time of this writing) ones being:[URL]..In this, and related, threads I have posted examples of a simple TextBoxManager and ButtonManager control. But again, with so much similar functionality required regardless of the control being managed, it would be technically possible to create a generic ControlManager(Of T As Control) class which can manage any type of control.

So in summary, one can facilitate managing a large number of user interface controls by building a "control manager" class which both encapsulates the list of control instances, and deals with adding and removing defined event handlers for every control it manages. The generic control manager class itself can be inherited and extended into a more specific class on a per-application basis in order to provide more application-specific functionality. I have a maximized form that has controls at the top of it and a large DataGridView that is docked below all the controls. Its kind of like the Ribbon in MS Office. The controls cover about 1/4 of the screen at the top. I would like a way for the user to click a button to hide all the controls then automatically expand into the place the controls were so the user can view more data in the DataGridView and visa versa. For example, in MS Office Excel you can hide the ribbon by clicking a tiny button that has "^" on it.
I'm not very familiar with all the controls in Visual Studio so I would like to hear some recommendations. Is this situation ideal for a SplitContainer or ToolStripContainer or am I way off base here?

I've got a couple of these NumericUpDown controls I put on a form. Without describing too much about the form I basically want to update some variables each time one of these NumUD controls changes value. So for each NumUD I have a call to a Recalculate subroutine within their "changedValue" event.
There are actually two problems. First, if I initialize the "Value" property to something other than zero in VB2010 at DESIGN TIME it won't even open the form when I hit RUN. It gives me a "No Source Available. No symbols loaded for any call stack frame" error. The error box says "InvalidOperationException" was not handled. So if I try to set the initial value of the Value property to anything but zero of either I get this error.

Im working with a CD722UN Customer Display for our POS application. it comes with a USB2.0 connection and a installation package containing a driver etc. now, for my application. how should i do when i want to access this driver? at the moment i'm using the "CD722UN application"s .dll path but that can wary from clients OS etc. [Code] my first thought was to first check if there was a device installed in the device manager and somehow use the driver from there? I have a solution, Winforms, mainly composed from VB.NET projects (Wiforms, Constrols and business classes).
How, I added to it a WPF project, but wrote it in C#. Actually, every time I make a modification in the WPF C# project, I need to (re)build the C#WPF project. Is there a option to make it work like other (VB.NET) projects (accept and "see" the changes without rebuilding the C# project)?
An example:When I reference project "R.VB" in project "M.VB", I add a method "DoTest" in the "R.VB" and use that method in "M.VB" without compile errors.
If I add "DoTest" in the C# WPF Control and try to use it in "M.VB" project, I recieve a compile error "DoTest" is not a member od "R.C#Class".

I have 2 projects (P1 and P2) in a VB2008 solution, with each project compiled to a separate EXE.P2.exe is started via a button on P1 and while P2 runs, certain aspects of P1 are disabled. When P2 closes, P1 needs to reactivate those disabled aspects.Question: How do I communicate with P1 from P2, seeing that they are 2 separate EXE files, even though part of the same solution?
