Source File Is Different From When The Module Was Built
Feb 1, 2011
I have "added an existing project" to my solution. This item has been used in several different solutions but I am running into an issue for the 1st time w/ it.
I have 2 applications:
X & Y
I copied the "existing project" from the X folder to the Y folder (so I would not be altering the same "existing project". Then I "added" the project from the new Y location. I also added reference to the DLL file in location Y. However when I debug from program Y it keeps running the code from location X. Everything that I know to look at looks correct. Any ideas on what is causing the issue and how to resolve it?
FYI, To prove the point I changed the folder name for testing in the X folder. When I then debug program Y i get this error:
When I start the debugger, there is a message that contain the source file is different from when the module was built. would you like the debugger to use it anyway? how to solve that thing? and also, i can not use the breakpoint there is a sign like triangle and "!" and it says that"the breakpoint will not currently be hit. the source code is different from the original version."
I'm looking to turn this vb calculator I built into a select case contained within a module. I'm not sure where to start if someone could help.
Public Class form_calc Dim firstEntry As Double 'Declares the variable for the first entry Dim secondEntry As Double 'Declare the variable for the second entry Dim operation_sign As String 'Declares the variable for the math sign Private Sub form_calc_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load display.Enabled = False
i have encountered a problem, i want to access the data coming to the computer from the in-built bluetooth module of a computer on windows platform, this data has been sent by a remote bluetooth module say a by an autonomous device (just like a bluetooth mouse connecting to the computer). The to be sent is in the form of numbers and i need these to manipulate on the computer.
My boss has asked me to set up DotNetNuke's Survey Module and make a few custom changes to it for a client. But I'm having trouble just getting the bare-bones code to run properly!Downloaded both the source & install folders from [URL] Created a new VB Web Application Project Took out all the default pages Copied the Survey source code into the VB Web Application Project in exactly the same structure Made a batch script that creates an installation folder identical to DNN's install folder (double-checked by running a folder-diff on it, and all files/folders were identical) Zipped up my installation folder using 7-zip The source code compiles perfectly. But even though the files/folders are identical, DNN's zipped package will work properly on my DNN site, and my own zipped package will fail with this famous error message:
Error: Survey is currently unavailable. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Survey.survey'. --->
Reasonably experienced programmer but newbie question on VB Express 2010: I have coded my 1st attempt at my project. I now want to save the work I have done and branch the code but be able to go back to what I did before if I screw up. What is the best practice? Do I get any help from Visual Studio. I could save a copy of the code in another directory or different file name
Is it possible to immediately use code that is built in a dynamically built assembly?I would like to create an instance of an ENUM built using.http:[url]......
I don't know what this is called so I've struggled to find an answer from google but I have a vague memory of it from t'old days.I've sub-classed (* see below) about 8 framework controls, overriden some properties and added some functionality into each one.The changes I have made are identical in every case. If I make a change, I have to go through each class and apply the same change there.I was hoping there may be a keyword such as <IncludeSourcefile "common.vb> that I can put into each class.
(* note) I use the term sub-classed but I don't know if that's the correct terminology. I've also seen it used for call-backs. Is sub-classed the correct term to use?
I'm trying to load in a xml file that was build using another windows form, but when I try the xml document I get the following error: Name cannot begin with the '%' character, hexadecimal value 0x25. Line 10, position 13.[code]
I am working on a vb forms application in VS2008.What I am looking to do is have 3 file managers on the form. The top is the source where files can be copied to the 2 other file managers. What I have been looking for is an example of the file explorer so I can modify it.So far I have been unsuccessful in finding a good example so I am here to ask the experts. So the gist is the first file explorer will allow a user to connect to thier local hard drive. The other two file explorers would allow the user to connect to two different servers through entering the path they want to view those file trees. After that the user could click on the file they want to copy and then hit a button for example and the file would be copied from the local to the two other areas.Would it be easier to just use text boxes with a confirmation that the files are being copied?Or can a full file manager be built to drag and drop files?
I am creating an application thats output is xml files that all have the same route node and then 4 child nodes and in each child node there are different numbers of grandchild nodes in these child nodes. At the moment i am trying to write the xml file starting from one form that has 5 different calls to the module to write the root node and then the 4 children.
but this is as far as i get. because each routine replaces the total xml file so i am left with the 4th child node. I would like to be able to create an XML writer that i can feed from the outside the names off the elements and attributes and values. Here is the code i have at the moment:
Do you know which module in VB.net will allow me to connect to a file (mdf/mdb) and SQL Server (not at the same time but to change in runtime).Or do you know of two modules which have the same API?
I'm building software which I will wont work both locally and on a server. But I don't want to have to go changing all of my code just because I'm using a different modules. I know VB.net, but I've never used databases. There's so many different database connectors its confusing!
I'm getting this error message when I try and run my program:
[Code]....
I have run this program man times before. I just added a Windows Form InputCrossForm.vb to my project. When I dbl click on the error message I get a message box title bar "Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express" with message "The definition of the object is hidden." Not sure what this means nor what to do to fix it.
I am working in Visual Studio with a solution containing multiple projects. The solution is based on a co-worker's computer. I am trying to build the project, I get the following error:
Error 17 Unable to open module file 'C:DocumentsVisual Studio 2010Projects ReportCreatorMy ProjectApplication.Designer.vb': The system cannot find the file specified. C:DocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsBlahBlahBlahReportCreatorMy ProjectApplication.Designer.vb 1 1 ReportCreator
It is on my co-worker's computer, but I don't see it in source control. He has ReportCreator checked out. How do I create Application.Designer.vb?
ive been trying to use System.Security.Cryptography to encrypt and decrypt a file but its not working for me
this code
Private Sub EncryptFile(ByVal sInputFilename As String, ByVal sOutputFilename As String, ByVal sKey As String) Dim fsInput As New FileStream(sInputFilename, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read) Dim fsEncrypted As New FileStream(sOutputFilename, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write) Dim DES As New DESCryptoServiceProvider()
In my program I allow the user to copy a file from one folder to another. If the file already exists in the target folder I want it to be overwritten.
All that works just fine - I'm not asking how to copy files.
But here's an example
Source file is:-
\SomeMachinesomeFolderfile.xyz
Target is:-
P:file.xyz
This might at first look like two separate files but in this case P: is mapped to \SomeMachinesomeFolder so the source and the target are actually the same file and the file copy will obviously fail.
Of course I want it to fail but my problem is that the windows generic error message seen by the user is not very helpful. It says something simple like "... can't be copied because it's busy". If the user isn't very bright he doesn't realize he's selected the same file both as source and target and he doesn't understand why it's busy.
What I want to do is detect in advance that the source and the target are the same file and display a more meaningful message to the user and not even bother trying to copy.
Define a structure named product, The structure should contain 2 variables one as a string and the other as a decimal. The decimal is used to store the price and the string is used to store the item number.
Declare a module level array that contains 5 product structure variables
Code the main forms load event procedure so that it reads the item number and prices from the itemInfo.txt file The procedure should store the item numbers and prices in the module level array. It also should add the item numbers to the list box.
When the user selects an item in the list box the items price should appear in the xPriceLabel. code the appropriate procedure.
The code I have is as follows
' Project name: Glovers Project ' Project purpose: The project displays the price of an item. ' Created/revised: <your name> on <current date>

Seems the problem I am having is this line is returning a value less than 0.
I made an aplication on windows XP and VB.Net 2008 and works fine, but I moved to Windows 7 and Visual Studio 11 Beta and it wont let me build my aplication and displays this error When I double click on the error msg a window pops up a says "There is no editor available for C:(file path)AssemblyInfo.vb
I just tried debugging my game using the green play button, what ever thats called, and upon telling the debugger to break on a few lines, each time it actually hit that respective line, I got an error from vs2010 telling me that the source files were different than they were when the program was compiled...and every time that I USED to change the files, and then debug the program, vs2010 would automatically rebuild the files...
Way to space out the source code of a web page, having each tag on one line, without having to search for each tag ending and then making a new line after.
Is it possible to see the source code through the program debug database file. I lost the source code file but eventually I just have the exe and the pdb file, I am just wondering is there a possibility to get the source code through the pdb ?
This should be very simple but I'm very new to Visual Studio so I can't get it to work. I want to take data from an excel (2003) file and turn it into a bunch of charts that would be viewable on a webpage that I'm trying to build in Visual Studio .Net 2005 professional.
I can't seem to use an excel file as my data source, here are the steps that I've followed:
1) created a new asp.net project
2) dragged a report viewer from the toolbox and it asks me to choose a report or "Design New Report."
3) Clicked Design New Report, and it opened up a new blank report.
4) Clicked "Add New Data Source" and got the Table Adapter Configuration Wizard.
5) Clicked new connection and it brought up the Add connection table.
6) Clicked "change" under data source and I chose Microsoft ODBC Data Source (not sure if that's right.)
7) Under "Data source specification" I chose "Excel Files"
- The first time I did this it brought up a window for me to choose an excel file so I did. Something along the way failed out but it stilled saved "ConnectionString1" as a connection to that first excel file. Now every time after I choose "Excel Files" and click "OK" the add connection window disappears and it goes back to the Table Adapter Configuration Wizard with the "ConnectionString1" as the connection string. It won't let me specify any different excel file. So I did 1-6 again and picked up at 7B
7B) Instead of using "Use user or system data source name:" I chose "Use connection string:" and clicked Build.
8) Picked the "Machine Data Source" tab and chose "Excel Files" and clicked ok
9) The "Select Workbook" window appears so I went to the file I wanted to use as my data source and click OK
10) Back on the Add Connection window I clicked test connection and it succeeded so I clicked ok.
11) It goes back to the Table Adapter Config Wiz window, but the connection string only says "Dsn=Excel Files"
12) clicked Next, then Next again, then clicked on Query Builder. The Add Table window pops up but there is nothing in there for me to choose from.I've tried a million other things, here are a few of the errors that I seem to get a lot.
[IM006][Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed [HYC00][Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] Optional feature not implemented [HY001][Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] Too many fields defined.
Does anyone have any thoughts? Is there a reference I need to add or something?
